Tour Of Italy Questions asked

Open Question: Is it worth it ?

I'm a dancer (as you may or may not know.. either way, you do now) And I don't know if im going to like, do it when i get older.. take it seriously, i mean. I have lots of really amazing opportunities with dance, this summer i could do a workshop in italy, i might tour china for an international ballet festival thing, and i could sign up for a big school in san francisco after i move there. the thing is, i don't know if i want to. Because If I continue with it and stop after high school, its just a huge wasted effort (imo) if i stop now, im just useless because I don't do anything else well. opinions? Im lost..Every time i go to dance though, it feels like a chore... so thats why i dont know what to do. i enjoy dance but its not something im 100% committed to more

Resolved Question: Where would we have more fun on our Graduation Trip?

Instead of attending Beach Week with the rest of our senior class, a friend and I are receiving a trip to Europe from our parents! We had originally planned on spending time in Ireland, but after looking at other tour packages, we're tempted to go elsewhere. Right now we're looking at Greece, Italy, Spain, and Paris. Where would a pair of eighteen year old's have the most fun? more

Open Question: first time going to europe 18yo girl from SF what to expect?

so i have a couple of questions, just respond to whichever you can easily answer. #1 so i heard that european men are very perverted especially in france. like they will just grab at you. now not to toot my own horn but i am attractive and tall but not blonde/blue eyed and i dont dress like most american girls. i have dark hair and with how i dress i would resemble a beatnik if only i had a beret (which i will have to pick up in paris haha) so is this true? should i not have too many problems since im more modest? also, will any european men be remotely interested? remotely is all i need, im single but i dont want to go crazy in europe although i look forward to flirting over good wine (who doesnt?) #2 what should i expect from EF COLLEGE BREAK tour? im doing west to east, london, paris, amsterdam, berlin (!!!!), prague, budapest, vienna, and munich. ALSO im from san francisco and when i youtubed ef college break i got a video of a bunch of suburban white kids being loud in italy or spain i cant remember at night im guessing going to a club. anyways this is NOT my idea of fun. or better these arent my types of peeps like im open to people i just dont want the majority of my group to be dumbasses who will rather club than go see where amelie was filmed and im left all alone. so what type of ppl were in your group and also what was your overall experience with EF? ANYTHING ELSE i should know????? this is my first time in europe and obviously i want to have the best time. more

Resolved Question: Joke of the Day! Who is Jack Schitt? Star if you like?

For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schitt? We find ourselves at a loss when someone says, "You don't know Jack Schitt!" Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual way. Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married Miss O. Needeep They had one son, Jack. In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deap Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against her parents' objections, Deap Schitt married her cousin Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock. Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chick N. Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt. Now when someone says, "You don't know Jack Schitt," you can correct them. more

Resolved Question: Escorted tour through italy?

I am planning an italy vacation for sometime in September and am considering doing an escorted tour with either Italy4real or cosmos. I was interested in anyones experiences with either of these companies and thoughts on doing escorted tours. I like the idea of everything being planned but am afraid that I will feel a bit like cattle being herded across Italy. At the same time, I have a very busy work life and not having to plan every single detail seems like a wonderful way to go. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of my Italy itinerary?

Hello folks, I have put together a rough sketch of my itinerary for my trip through Italy. I'm going this March over spring break. I plan on visiting Rome and Italy. It's a little rushed, but I honestly am a little more fast-paced than most people, so I wouldn't mind being kind of rushed. I mainly want to make sure that the places I want to see are feasible to visit and in similar parts of town. Just a note: I cannot change the day that I land in Rome (Saturday at 18hr) or the day that I leave (Sunday at 4hr). I cannot change the location where I land. I'm aware that I'd save time if my flight schedule was different, but at this point I cannot change it. The flight and three nights in a Roman hostel are the only reservations that I have paid for though, so everything else is flexible. What do you think? Saturday: Land in Rome at 6 p.m., check into my hostel. Sunday: Cappuchin Crypt - Museum of Rome - Borghese Gallery - Appian Way - Travastere walk (North City Center of Rome) Monday: Colosseum, Forums, Palatine Hill, Pantheon. Pub crawl. Tuesday: Castel Sant'Angelo - Ponte Sant'Angelo - Catacombs of Priscilla Wednesday: Audience with the pope (I have a letter from the Vatican saying I can get tickets!), Sistine Chapel - St. Peter's basilica - Vatican museum -- At 22 pm--get on a train to to Venice Thursday 6 am Hop off the train at San Lucia, arrive in Venice 9 am Walk from St. Mark's Square to Frari Church (self-guided St. Marks to Rialto Walk chapter). Stop along the way to the Rialto market to browse 11 am Tour Frari Church, Scuola San Rocco 12 pm Tour Accademia, dorsoduro neighborhood, La Salute Church 13 pm Dorsoduro lunch, vaporetto to St. Mark's to wander and shop 15 pm St Mark's basilica 16 pm Doge's Palace 17 pm Gondola ride 20 pm Dinner 22 pm Dueling orchestras with a drink on St. Mark's square Friday 11 am Grand canal cruise chapter, vaporetto 13 pm Lunch 14 pm Murano 17 pm Exploring 19 pm pub crawl Saturday: 8 am Get on a train to to Rome 12 pm Hop off at Rome 16 pm Plane leaves Rome Reservations - Make reservations at the Venice Fish, extend stay at Hostel Alessandro - Reservations for musuems--museum cards? more

Voting Question: Why is my boyfriends sister not liking me?

Okay so my boyfriends sister set us up on a blind date in Summer of 2008 (this is how we first met). She told me that I was the only girl that would be good enough for him since that is her favorite brother. So we met on a blind date and it was very awkward because he weasnt really talkative so I got the impression that I blew up his brain that way because I talked up a storm!. So I was honest and told her that it went okay but that he was just a tad quiet and she said hey its okay I am not going to be mad at you. Just cause your my friend doesnt mean that you Have to be interested in him. So I left on a trip to Italy right after I met him and I made a new guy friend in my tour group. We were hitting it off but never really dated, he was only a small crush. Of course she knew about it and wasnt like she had hard feelings. So after me and that guy in Italy stopped talking in which was pretty much 2 weeks after we got back home from the trip. I was focusing on school and job training so yeah boys were not my priority at that time. To make a long story short 4 months after we met I texted him out of the blue to say hi and then after that he became more open and wa la! we figured out that we were compatible after all! we dated for two months before we went steady and his sister was excited!. Until a year passes by, she starts acting differently with me. She starts saying crap that he is crazy for always driving out 40 mins to see me every weekend and that I dumped the guy I met from Italy and then started seeing her brother right after (which isnt true obviously according to the story above). She has been putting me on blast and making faces when she hears my name. Her background is that she is spoiled and is a big baby. Not to mention shes 21 years old shes like only 1 year younger than me , my boyfriend is 23. She also has a bf herself that doesnt really drive out to see her since he lives like an hour away friom where she lives. She doesnt even call or attempt to make the initiative to hang out with her brother since shes away from college during the week and comes home on the weekend. A big clue to maybe why she is acting like this is because before we got serious with our relationship my boyfriend and his sister would hang out more and he would buy her something from the mall or take her out to eat. What the heck is going on! more

Resolved Question: Traveling through Italy....best way?

I am taking my family, (including a 14 and 15 yr old boys) to Italy for 3 weeks. We plan on touring the country and several different cities along the way. Does anyone know the best form of travel while their with the most reasonable price. I thought about the train to the major cities and then taxi from there to the points of interest. But looking ahead, we will have lots of luggage, so I don't see this as the best idea. Maybe renting a car?....But then I've been told that it's dangerous to drive in Italy. Please someone help me that's been there and traveled the country. I am to the point of stressing out greatly about this. Also if anyone has any ideas of things in Italy that teens would like to do, other than the museums and Vatican, and churchs, please feel free to share your thoughts. I hope someone can answer this for me, and ease my mind!! Thanks in advance.I am American..and I dont really have a conception of Italy other than what I've read thusfar. Thank you for the websites, it appears driving in the US is more dangerous. I am visiting alot of rural areas as well as the major cities...my concern is being able to get into the cities via car. If I take the train, how much of a pain will it be to carry around 4 large luggage bags and a few backpacks? We are staying a month,so Im trying to find ease in travel and the most cost efficient. more

Resolved Question: Starting July 12 with five weeks to travel in W. Europe, where would you go?

Hi, Starting on July 12 of this year, I will have about five weeks or so to travel around Western Europe as I please, though I will be looking to travel on the cheap. I will have already toured Spain and I will be visiting Italy on another trip in the future, so these two countries are out. I will be leaving from Barcelona on July 12 to start this five-week trip, and though I am open to traveling long distances to visit major cities----jumping around the map, so to speak------I prefer to take my time and enjoy one particular region. If you were I, where would you go? What would be your ideal itinerary for this time period? Thanks.Note: By 'cheap' I mean relatively speaking. Hostels instead of hotels, for example. more

Resolved Question: Most romantic places in the world?

My boyfriend (hopefully soon fiance lol) are planning a trip for June. We live in Canada right now, and have seen most of Canada, and for this vacation we would prefer to leave North America. We've don't want Caribbean (we've been a couple of times already), or Mexico. We've been to 11 countries in Eurrope (Switzerland, France, Italy, etc.) so we don't want to go back there this year. Really, I'm just wondering what would be considered the most romantic places (beach preferred instead of city). We've been looking along the lines of somewhere like Greece, Thailand, even Hawaii (although I realize this is American). Is there anywhere else we should consider? We're looking for beautiful scenery, beaches, a relaxing vacation ,but options to tour small towns or cities if we wanted to. Thanks! more

Voting Question: Is it necessary or overcautious to use a PacSafe or similar slash-proof bag on trip to Italy?

I'm going to be traveling to Italy around Easter and am trying to figure out what type of a purse to bring. There is a lot of talk online about how major cities in Italy are hot spots for petty theft - pickpockets, purse snatching, purse slashing, etc. I'll be in Rome, Florence, and Venice. I will likely be with a tour group about 75% of the time, not sure if this makes me any safer. I don't plan on taking that much stuff with me each day, but at the same time a money belt isn't sufficient for my needs. Plus, I'll have a point and shoot and a DSLR on me at all times too. Looking into getting a PacSafe purse, but am not sure if I really need one or if I'm just being waaaay paranoid. I'm usually very aware of my surroundings and tend to keep a hand on my purse at all times even when I'm here at home in the US. The only time I could have my attention diverted is when using both hands and eyes to take pics with the SLR. Has anyone here purchased a PacSafe for a trip? Did you think it was necessary? Did it make you feel safer? Thanks for any advice! more

Resolved Question: What would you think if your fiance put this online?

"I want to go somewhere....walk a bout across Australia, or a maybe climb through the mountains in Central America, or Italy. I mean that's all there really is in life on earth (Travel, Love). You have your Friends and family, some job they hate (for most LOL), See the world, what's the point if you stay in one area, o...ne job, and one boring life forever, live for your kids, maybe I'm selfish and want to live for me." Would you think they weren't ready to be married and would rather be alone? I wrote a question last night about this but my fiance ever since his mother passed called off the wedding. He always wanted a long engagement. He proposed december, 24th 2008 and he wanted to get married in 2011. His mother wanted us to get married in 2009 and I compromised with 2010. After his mom passed he postponed the wedding and now our date that was set is canceled and I have to wait for him to find himself. It just really hurts me because my dream of marrying him and sharing my life with him got taken away. I feel as though he took it away from me. He doesn't like to talk about the wedding, and stuff. Whenever I mention it he's like "we'll talk about it when we get there". He's trying to be a pro golfer and he's almost there he said "when i make the tour we'll get married". I have no idea how long that is..I just don't want to be wasting my time. I was there for him beyond belief when his mom died, and never asked for anything from him. It just really hurts me because I use to be excited about it and now I feel as though I'm not allowed to be and I cry about it. I feel like he doesn't give a shit about it anymore. His mom has been gone about a year now..and he's still in that angry place. I don't know what to do or how to deal with it..I got some helpful answers last night anyone else have some good answers? I just want him to pick a date but he is so freedom struck that I just don't understand why he proposed to me then? What should I do? How can I get him to just relax and pick a date..it's not that hard! How do i get him to get back excited about talking about it? I mean I'm not even excited anymore because it just hurts to think about it...what do I do?he's 32 also and I'm 22. I don't think his mother would have wanted him to call off the wedding..unless that's why he was marrying me.. more

Resolved Question: How can I backpack around Europe with a tight budget and not much traveling experience? Long explanation...sry?

A couple of friends and I (students, if it matters) want to travel through Europe next summer. In general, we plan on staying in hostels. Comfort is not a big deal to us, as long as there is a roof over our head. I would think it would be cheapest to arrive and leave from the same place for a round-trip ticket? I really don't have an itinerary, but I wanted to spend a few days in Italy, as well as Holland, and quite a bit of time in France. I have friends in Holland that I can stay with, if that makes a difference. Also, I'm not sure of what other countries would be good to go to (not greatly expensive, laid-back people, etc) for a few days--any suggestions? I'd hate to spend a lot of time in Europe and only hang out in 3 of the countries. I also heard something about some sort of railway pass for all over Europe? I plan on spending a month, or maybe a couple extra weeks if time permits. So basically, what I want to know is how much each aspect will cost, and the trip as a whole, roughly--I'd rather have it rounded up. I don't care so much for tour-groups, as I'd rather save money and experience it on my own. Also, what will I need, as far as legal documents go (aside from passport)? Surely there might be some countries that are cheaper to fly into and out of than others? Thanks ahead of time, guys! Also, we're all very active and fit. So if it would save us money (as well as letting us experience Europe a little more), we wouldn't mind biking as transportation during our trip. But obviously not the whole time. more

Im planning to go on a European tour for my 21st birthday and I've heard great things about Dubrovnik however most tours either spend time in Corfu in Greece or in Dubrovnik. Resolved Question: Obama is Trying to Introduce Healthcare for All; Why is this Wrong?

There are people accusing him of Socialist, or even Communist, tendencies. Surely, the man is simply trying to ensure that everyone, no matter what their status, has access to medical treatment when they need it. Nothing to do with Socialism, or Communism, surely - but simple humanity. John F. Kennedy first planned it, but was killed before he could introduce the bill. So, after so many years, Obama has had the courage to reintroduce the idea. Everyone here in the UK complains about the Health Service - but they make use of it all the time, for free. And if they don't like it, then they can pay for private treatment (although, when they get into real trouble, the private sector sends their patients off to the nearest NHS hospital). We used to run a B&B: we had a visitor from Australia who had toured Europe, and developed a bad chest infection in Italy. She was charged a huge amount of money to see a doctor and was prescribed some medication that didn't work. The same thing happened in Spain, and then also in France. When she came to stay with us, she was obviously not well, so we sent her off to our doctor, who diagnosed her properly, and gave her medication that worked - at no charge. Within a day or two, she had stopped coughing, and could not believe that she got this service for free. Which is better; our system, yours, or the possibility that you could have ours? more

Resolved Question: Seeing Italy and Greece?

My school is offering a trip to Italy and Greece. I was just wondering if it sounds like a good one and if I'll be seeing the good parts of Italy. I've always wanted to go, but I hope I am seeing things I'll remember and not the random parts of Italy no one has heard of, you know? Oh, and where is the city above water? The tour brochure says: Florence, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Chiesa di Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio, Duomo visit, Leather workshop, Gates of Paradise, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Dante's house, Rome, Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel visit, St. Peter’s Basilica visit, Colosseum visit, Piazza Venezia, Forum Romanum visit, Rome City Walk, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Sorrento, Patras, Brindisi, Pompeii, Delphi, Athens, Temple of Apollo, Parthenon, Acropolis visit, Temple of Athena Nike, Omonia Square, Syntagma Square, Olympic site, Plaka district, Temple of Olympian Zeus, and Hadrian’s Arch. more

Resolved Question: Hey all you Harley riders! I'm back! Did you miss me?!?!?

I'm sure many of you have wondered where I've been over the last 5 months or so. I recently returned from a long motorcycle vacation in Europe (after an awesome trip to Sturgis of course!). In early August it appeared that the bond trading firm I work at was going to go under but we were lucky enough to get some stimulus funds/bailout money to help keep us afloat. As the company restructured with the new $, I was able to take the remainder of the year off and collect my bonus early. I must say, if you ever get a chance to tour Europe on a motorcycle, do it! I went through Spain, Italy, the Alps, Munich and many other parts of Europe. Even got to race on the Moto GP track in Munich! It was first class all the way! Anyway... I hope everyone is happy to have me back in the Yahoo Answers community! I just didn't have time in Europe to log in and visit. Since getting back I've already put the battery charger on my Road King! Looking forward to riding again! more

Resolved Question: How much money would I need for a really cheap European tour?

I will be there for 3 months. From May to August. Travelling by Bicycle from Greece-Italy-Austria-Germany-Holland. Or something like that, still have to figure out how far I can get, But can someone please give me a very rough outline of the money I will need. Maybe from your experience? Sleeping in tents or youth hostels and traveling mainly by bicycle and eating from supermarkets. Or just a quick guess? more

Resolved Question: Where should we stay on our anniversary in Northern Italy?

In July, my husband and I are going to Italy on a tour that we are designing ourselves for our anniversary and I am looking for the most romantic city to actually stay in on the night of our anniversary. We want to visit Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, and maybe another place... Thanks more

Resolved Question: This may sound lame, but are there any sites for people that want/need travel buddies?

None of my friends can/want to go anywhere ever, and some just can't afford it. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't be able to either, but I get free airfare wherever I want (I only have to pay tax) and I've never traveled out of the country.. or anywhere, really. I need to do get out and do more before life/time passes me by, but I don't have anyone to do it with. Mainly looking for someone to go to Europe with. I feel like I could take on London okay alone, but I'd rather not.. any other country such as Italy or France, I def. don't want to go it alone.. I'm not anywhere close to being knowledgeable or fluent and I don't want to get stuck in horrid situations with everything I have to encounter (at least not alone). Are there any sites or ways to find good, decent people to travel with? I guess kind of like a dating site, but for friends. Again, pathetic, I know, but I have no one willing to do anything big like this with me, so I have to find a way somehow before I decide to do it on my own. Also, if you've been to London, where would be a good place to stay for about a week? I mainly want to sight-see (Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, etc), visit bars (pubs), etc.. not necessarily any tours.. I want to be able to venture out on my own for the week. Never done anything like this, so I don't know what to expect, how to get around, or anything. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! :) more

So if you guys know of any or have been on any like that please let me know! if it's a combined trip with italy or something thats ok too. more

Resolved Question: Touring EUROPE for 2 weeks by EURAIL, suggestions? countries to go to? Events?

APRIL OR MAY is the time im thinking I will be taking a BackPack. I will be on R&R with a few buddies from my unit(ARMY). We are flown to Germany for FREE. We will be traveling EURAIL. I was thinking PARIS, London, Ireland, San Marino Italy off the top of my head but where else? The pass we are buying will allow us up to 21 countries but we will only have 2 weeks. Indepth experiences and stories will be appreciated. Im not putting this off and who knows if I'll ever get the chance again so I gotta make the most of it. more

Resolved Question: Best way to see Rome?

I want to plan a trip to see the Vatican, the Coliseum and maybe take a few day trips to places like the Amalfi coast and/or Pompeii (guide tours). My problem is that I don't know where to start! I am thinking 2 weeks, but I have never been to Europe at all. The only place that interests us to any great degree is Central to Southern Italy. We are not generally "tour" people and driving is not in the cards. We like to eat well, drink coffee and browse at our leisure, soaking up the ambiance and not run around. (Read..we like to sleep since we stay up late). I can see waking up at the crack of dawn a few times but we would like to relax. Is it feasible to stay outside of Rome and take a day train into Rome to sightsee? If so where would that be. Inner Rome seems very overpriced for the kind of Hotel that you get and I see a big risk of getting caught in a highly overpriced fleabag hotel! I was thinking maybe $5000-$6000 US for 2 weeks accommodation and maybe $200-$300 US a day in meal and tour expenses ($10,500 all in excluding airfare). Any suggestions? Feel free to suggest an Itinerary..lol..I am at a loss!I would like to thank all of you for providing some fantastic recommendations. At least now I can start to plan my trip! I am thinking that the best way to go would be to research a relly good hotel in central Rome for a week and then try the double decker transport as one person recommended. After Rome it would probably be best to stay near the Amalfi Coast and then see the rest of Italy from that location and just "blow by" rome (since we were already there) and visit Florence and/or Tuscany and the more southern parts of Italy after that. Thank you all again very very much. It was very kind of you all to reply!Sorry but I can't seem to be able to award a best Answer or Edit some of my crappy spelling. For some reason I kinda botched something up in trying to Edit...so I am very sorry! more

Resolved Question: Where should I go for my high school trip?

My mom has decided that she will pay for me to go on a trip either my junior or senior year of high school because she allowed my sister to do that when she was in high school. I need advice on whether to go to South Africa or a European trip. I feel so blessed to go to either. So, the European trip is a school run trip that I would go on the summer before senior year. One of my best friends and her family plus our American History teacher is going. We spend a little less than two weeks in London, France, and Italy. We will tour cities and countryside and go to many famous places. This is covered in $3,000+ including the hotel rooms and food. My sister went on this trip and enjoyed it, but she seems to be trying to convince me to go to Africa, not Europe. I think the culture will be impressive and I actually may remember something from my AP Euro History course last year. The South Afirca trip is a business trip for my mother to Durban ; so she will be in conferences a lot of the time and I am not allowed to run about South Africa on my own without her. I would go on this trip the summer after senior year. I really want to see the animals of Africa and the culture because I want to have a career involving Anthropology or Zoology; so I think it would be a good experience. I fear that the city may be to touristy and built up though. Also, my mother hinted that her new boyfriend may be coming with us; he is nice, but he is around us way too much and has become annoying. I don't know if my opinion of him will change in a year, but right now the idea of spending my vacation in Africa with him makes me want to jump on the plane to Europe. I really want to pick the right place because I don't think I will be able to experience other cultures than the U.S. for a long time once I have to pay for everything myself, and I want to make the most of this gift. Please tell me which you think would be the best trip and why. :) more

Resolved Question: What other local/authentic/different things to do in Cancun?

Hi everyone. I have been to Cancun, Riviera Maya (Playa Del Carmen), Tulum, Chichinitza, Xeh-la, XCaret, Tres Rios, Valladolid, the Zip Line tour, etc more than a few times already. I am vacationing in Cancun itself, and I was wondering, besides these attractions is if there is something else to do where there are less tourists and more locals and is nice. I know of Isla Mujeres and Cozumel, but like I said, I prefer hidden treasures. Also, Merida for us is a little far. How about Holbox? How far is XCalak? We will be in a resort and prefer to return the same day. What really interested us last time was the natural water hole, cenotes. There was one, but I forget the name, near Valladolid. PS I would like to know if you mention a place, if it is doable by bus or by car. I would also like to know if it is safe. Some places look safe when you go with a local guide, but I can tell a little by the way some places aggressively PUSH you to buy souvenirs, how it can be a little harrassing and sometimes doubtful. PS I do not want to take tours again. I don't like the, "Buy this bracelet to support the Mayan language and buy this $30 US bottle of tequila with your tacky photo on it, come on my friend where are you from? America? (Please say America so I can charge you double! Oh, Italy? Oh.. let me go harrass those other ones then)." I appreciate your help. more

Resolved Question: I want to go on a trip to Europe?

I want to visit three countries, France, England, and Italy, but where do I start? I'll probably only want to visit the major cities like Paris, London, and Rome. What is the best way to tour these countries/cities in the time span of about 10 days? I've heard about the Euro Rail Pass, but that's about it. How did you go about touring Europe? more

Resolved Question: information on a gap year in Europe?

I just got back from an 18 day tour of Greece and Italy. i fell in love with Europe and traveling. next year is my last year of school, finally! I am really interested in taking a gap year in Europe, in 2011, either for a few months to a year. There are so many different programs just by googling it, i am interested in community work and wouldn't mind volunteering. But it needs to be affordable, being a student i don't have an endless amount of money. I was wondering if anyone had done a similar gap year? or know more about it or have any good website suggestions. thankyou! more

Resolved Question: I need some ideas to plan a trip to Italy that would potentially include Sardinia? A "Foody" vacation...?

A friend of mine and I would like to make a trip to Italy in the next 3 to 4 months. We are looking for a frugal way to enjoy a tour of the country and Sardinia as well. We would want to follow the cuisine as much as the sites. Ideas? I already hopped on line and found 8 night stays to be around 4000 for the 2 of us but would like to bring that number down as much as I can.Suppose I should include that we will be traveling from Kansas City, MO. Resolved Question: Planning a 3 week 6 country tour through Europe in 2011. any idea?

I am planning a 3 week 6 country tour of Europe in Summer of 2011. My countries are England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, France, and Germany. There are many things i want to see but i want to know what you guys think are some of the "Can't miss" sites in these countries. My itinerary is going to be something like One week traveling through England, Ireland, and Scotland, 5 days in France, 5 days in Germany and 4 days in Italy.I would definitely like to talk further but cannot figure out how to add you. more

Resolved Question: How to plan a trip to Europe?

I am planning on going on a 3-4 month tour of Europe. The countries include England, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. But, mainly the first 4 listed. I want to start my tour as soon as I get out of school. Which should be around June 12 and school starts around September 4th so I would have to be back by August 15th. I would like to spend about 1 week in each country...maybe less. I really have to make it to France, Italy, England, and Spain. I want a cheap price and I want at least 2 other people to go with me. Maybe 3 others. Could you organize a trip to see how much it would be? The cities I must see are Barcelona, Paris, Roma, and London. Sweden would be cool because I am swedish mostly. I want to eat at a fancy restaurant in each of those cities. I love good flavored foods in foreign countries. Thanks so much. more

Resolved Question: First trip to Europe--which of these places should I go and when? Website and hotel suggestions welcome too!?

I'm planning my first trip to Europe sometime next year with my husband. We can probably spend only about a week there, but I have lots I would like to do, so I need some help to narrow it down. Since it's my first trip, we'll probably want to do a lot of the typical tourist sight-seeing like Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, etc. Here's my list of places I'm most interested in going: Italy--this is a MUST, but I can't decide if I should do one city and then go to another country or just stay within Italy Great Britain France Spain/Portugal I would love to do Greece, but I think that would be a trip we could take later because there'd be so much to do Germany and Austria are also possibilities but not likely. I have found a couple websites (virgin-vacations.com and europeandestinations.com) that offer some pretty cheap packages, but if you've found another website or agency that has good packages, let me know! Since I've never been anywhere close to Europe I really don't know what's amazing to see. What's the best time of the year to go there? Where should I stay (neighborhood or specific hotel)? What should I visit? Where has the best food (besides Italy)? Are there areas I should avoid? Any cool tours or sightseeing I should do? Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks! more

Resolved Question: whats your favorite joke?

Who is Jack Schitt you ask? The lineage is finally revealed. Many people are at a loss for a response when someone says " you don't know jack schitt." Now you can intellectually handle the situation. Jack is the only son of Awe Schitt and O Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O Schitt, the owner of kneedeep N. Schitt, Inc. In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt, and the deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Fulla Schitt,Giva Schitt,Bull Schitt, and the twins, Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against her parents' wishes, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Mr. Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt-Sherlock. Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt and they produced a nervous son, Chicken Schitt. Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt were inseparable throughout their childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. Thewedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens wedding. The Schitt-Happens children are Dawg,Byrd, and Horse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son left home to tour the world, and recently returned from Italy with his new bride, Pisa Schitt. So now when someone says, "you don't know Jack Schitt", you can correct them. more

Resolved Question: Going on a tour - can you leave the group and just use the flights and transfers?

Found a tour including flights and hotel in different parts of Italy that I couldn't otherwise do myself for as cheap, the flight alone, excluding accomodation. However, it all makes up part of quite a regimented tour, with little free time, which I don't particularly like the sound of. I prefer to do my own thing more, as many people do. Usually I just book my own flights and accomdation separately, so I've never been on an actual tour, so I'm not really sure how it works. Obviously, it'll vary from operator to operator, but in general if you are on a particular tour, are you expected to stay with the tour group, or are you at liberty to pick and choose what excursions you go on and what you don't? Thanks more

Resolved Question: Honeymoon in Italy, help?

My wife and I want to have our honeymoon in Italy, and we want it to be good. We're looking at spending two weeks to a month, and especially want to see Florence and Rome, and Venice would be a nice add on. What we're looking for is a nice villa to rent in any of these cities and a great tour of all three. And we definitely want to see the great art. Doesn't necessarily all have to be one tour; three separate ones workAnd actually, we wouldn't mind maybe touring these places and then renting a villa in a more remote part of the country, hopefully on the coast. Basically a place to stay peacefully for a while, that isn't necessarily in a big city. By the way, we have a smattering of Spanish, French, and Italian to work with more
