Open Question: Wanted to take a trip to Pakistan and needed some advice?
Hey, So, i wanted to head to Pakistan and visit a friend of mine in Lahore. I wanted to stay for roughly two weeks and didn't want to spend a ton on airfare, because i will need to pay for accommodations as well. I have to leave from the East Coast (Newark, New York, or Philly) but i can't find any travel sights that allow me to plan a few months ahead. Anyway, i was wondering, has anyone had experience in traveling to Pakistan? What was the best time to go? Are they accepting of foreigners in the Punjabi region? Anything i should keep in mind while traveling? moreOpen Question: I need expertise...please help me pick a vacation!?
Here's the quick and dirty: 20-something female From West Virginia, so I'm pretty used to cold weather. Have traveled a lot within the U.S. Have traveled to London (and loved every second!) I have about a $500 budget for a 4-day trip Nov. 21-24 (not including airfare...it's a non-issue). Have a passport just sitting around collecting dust. I know some elementary French and could probably pick up a little Spanish before I leave if necessary. I can't for the life of me choose a destination! I'm interested in history, architecture, natural beauty...and probably some other things I can't think of at the moment. Warm weather would be nice, but is not a necessity. Had been thinking of Quito, Ecuador, or somewhere in the U.K. or Europe, but again, can't decide! Thanks in advance for your help! moreOpen Question: How will the recession in Iceland affect local prices tourist activities?
I'm traveling to Iceland from the US in May 09. My airfare is already booked, so the trip is definitely happening. I know that the country has some serious financial issues right now, but I haven't heard anything on how it may affect tourism. Should I expect higher prices than before or lower? Will a lot of the tourist activities from the past (i.e. whale watching / snow mobile trips etc) be less available, or not available at all? I'm definitely looking forward to this trip regardless, but just want to get an idea of what it may be like. moreResolved Question: Researching airfares?

I would like to book a round trip vacation for my boyfriend and I for the spring of next year. But, I can't seem to find any websites that offer round trips. Maybe I am just overlooking them. We would prefer a cruise but we live in upstate New York and to get to a port we would have to travel between 5 and 8 hours or more to get to the city or another state with a port. Are there any cruises that offer airfare to the port? We would like to go on a Caribbean cruise that deports from Florida but it would be easier if the airfare price and cruise price were combined. Is this possible? If so, where can I find some sites? We are also looking at other vacations such as round trips where we stay right on a resort such as Busch Gardens or Orlando Studios, any ideas? Thank you for your help! moreResolved Question: what does return airfare mean?

This saturday I'm going to my familys travel agent, AAA to book the cruise I want to go on in Feb. I need airfare from Pittsburgh to Ft. Lauderdale, round trip, and a 1 night pre-cruise hotel stay in Ft. Lauderdale. I checked and I know the cruise rate is cheaper through AAA than on RC's website. But what should I do about the hotel stay and airfare? moreVoting Question: Destination Wedding.. Do bride and groom pay for airfare and hotel?

Any advice for me?? moreResolved Question: cheap places to explore!?
my friend and i want to take some time off to go traveling in january. what would be some ideal places to visit outside of the US that won't cost tons of money for airfare and whatnot moreResolved Question: Why do Russian women consider anything a man says offensive?
I met a lady over the internet from St. Petersburg who always responded to my emails saying "she found something offensive". She has since traveled to visit me in Australia two months ago and we got along fine as long as I cooked her meals, cleaned her clothes and showed her a good time. Now she wants to visit me again for a month in December-January. Mind you she is paying for her own airfare. What are the chances she will find me offensive in the future? moreResolved Question: Which is better for travel with baby: Puerto Vallarta or Cancun?
Our first time to Mexico but we can't decide which one is better considering we travel with our 10months old son. We found a good deal for airfare and hotel for both place. I know Cancun is a little farther and have to stopover. But we don't mind if it really much better than PV or the other way around. The most important is the destination should be baby-friendly vacation in terms of weather, medical (just in case), safety, easy access transportation, lots of tour, etc. Any suggestion out there? moreResolved Question: Has anyone heard of WWOOF?
Hi there, I am wondering if anyone has heard of or knows anything about WWOOF? It stands for Willing Workers on Organic Farms. This program is when someone works on a farm. In return for a full day's work, the owner of the farm gives the worker a place to stay and feeds them. It's basically a work exchange program and can last from several days to months. I'm a college student from the United States and I love to travel. I've been to Australia and it was spectacular. I recently got to do a conservation program through Conservation Volunteers New Zealand. I picked New Zealand because I've never been there before. But I probably should have picked to do a project in Australia instead because I'd eventually like to live there some day. No offense to New Zealand; I just really liked Australia! CVNZ was amazing and a great cause, but it was a bit pricey. It cost me nearly $2,000 to do the project plus the airfare (another $1,200) to get over there. I'd love to do another project but I'm a college student--not like I have a ton of money! But I'd really like some experience in Australia rather than just being a tourist if one day I try to immigrate. I'm perfectly fine for buying a plane ticket and working for my keep--room and board. I see it as a reward for getting to be in Australia. Having to pay for the project to do volunteer work makes it difficult. People over here also thought I was crazy to pay so much money to go work for free; they gave me strange looks when I told them about the program. I'm looking for any feedback you can give me on WWOOF and whether or not you think it is a good program. I'd also very much appreciate any other advice on volunteer projects if you know of any other programs. Thank you! moreResolved Question: How much should we bring for one week in Florence, Italy?
My husband and I are travelling on vacation to Florence, Italy for one week in November. Our hotel and airfare are paid for already but we are trying to budget for food and stuff to do along with additionals. How is the price of food in Italy compared to America (we live in Upstate NY)? Would $100 us dollars a day be to little for food for the both of us? Also we would like to take the train to the Cinque Terre for the day, can anyone give an idea how much the train tickets cost? I think it goes by kilometers, how much is say 90 km? Also, how expensive are the museums, and finally can anyone recommend a good wine tour in Tuscany, we are staying right in the center of Florence and would like a nice wine tour one day. Finally, I have heard Florence has nice markets to buy oulet items and leather and such, how are those prices? Can you bargain with them a bit? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Budget for Europe. Please Answer!!!! =)?
Okay so I realllly want to go to Europe for about three months. I have been receiving very mixed reviews about how much I should save to spend three months in Europe (not including airfare). I would be staying in hostels, eating the most affordable food possible, and travelling in the most affordable manner (train, walking, maybe even hitchhiking) I want to stick to a strict budget but still see all the amazing sites European countries have to offer, and I would want to spend time in countries such as Ireland,England, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Holland, Germany... How much would this all cost, ALL AND ANY ESTIMATES ARE APPRECIATED. Please help me out!!! =))) moreResolved Question: a question about airfare?
Is it cheaper to book a flight through a travel agent or deal direct with the airline and why? moreResolved Question: What's the best bang for our buck for December/January travel?
We have been gifted a wedding present of a late honeymoon by my husband's aunt who owns a timeshare. We can pick wherever we want, domestic, international, you name it, but we're going to have to pay for airfare and food once we get there. What are the best deals for last week of December flights and where will we not get completely gouged by food and travel costs? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Finding volunteer opportunities in Australia?
Hello. I'm from the United States and I've recently done a conservation program in New Zealand, traveling around the country and working in various regional parks. While I was over in the area, I spent time traveling in Australia--not for volunteer work, however. I've been to Australia before this trip also. I would like to do conservation work again only this time in Australia. I went through Conservation Volunteers New Zealand; I also see there is a Conservation Volunteers Australia. It was a great experience, but it was also very expensive to do volunteer work, considering it was just work (food and housing was included in this cost) and they didn't take us sightseeing. It was $2,500 over three weeks and another $1,000 for a plane ticket. I'm looking for something not quite as expensive. I would like to spend some time in Australia after I gradute college, perhaps even permanetly move there. I work for the U.S's park service as a park ranger. I would like to see some different parks and work in a park in Australia. But I would also like some experience in Australia before I move. I probably should have done the volunteer work in Australia; but I've never been to New Zealand before. Could you give me any suggestions on some volunteer work or programs I could do? I'd like something not quite as expensive, maybe working onsite at a park and being allowed to stay in an extra cabin or in the campground. I'm fine with paying the airfare, I'm looking for something a bit better with the living expenses since I'm there doing free work. Thank you! moreResolved Question: How much tax should I pay for airfare of $1498 total for 2 tickets. Is $980 2 much I got it from travel agency?
I bought it in June so it's supposed to be cheaper when you buy it in advance. when I looked at them now there 1033 + 103 in tax so 1136 with tax. I payed 1250 for each. they break down on the invoice is 1498 for the tickets and 980 for tax so the tickets were $749? and $500 in tax? isnt that a bit much? moreResolved Question: Traveling from Texas to Vancouver, BC (Canada) for the 1st time?
Hey everyone. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. Any feedback would be helpful. Ok here is my situation. Christmas is coming and as of yesterday, my in-laws have invited myself and my husband to spend Christmas with them. Hubby is homesick after a year and a half of being here in Texas with me and would like to go home to see his Dad & Brother, we've seen Mom, and she came to see us a few months after we got married. Now I haven't traveled internationally since I was 12 years old (15 years ago) and then I didn't have to plan anything, so I'm at a total loss. 1) Mom & Dad are paying for our airfare, so we don't have to worry about that. 2) How much money should we take with us? We're severely in debt now, but we understand they aren't' expected to give us living money while we are there. I expect we should be there approximately 2-3 weeks at the most. While I'm gone I will be earning no income, no vacation or anything, and no money saved up to pay for basic things like car payment. (Oh, and the painful thing is my job is giving me anywhere from 8-12 hrs per week @ $12.31/hr, that’s not even paying my car payment on a monthly basis, much less anything else.) 3) I'm not used to the weather there, hubby says it's cold. Well depending on the time of year in Texas it rarely is as cold as I expect it there during the winter. Should I buy clothes to wear there, knowing I will probably never wear them again? Should I buy them here, or there since I will be at least able to gauge what the weather will be like. 4) Presents! How do we decide what to get his family? In my house we don’t exchange presents. We spend the day enjoying the time with family, but everyone in the household understands that cash is tight with some of us attending college full time, others have low incomes and whatnot. How do you get present’s for someone you’ve never meet, or know very little about?? For Mom & Dad we thought getting a picture of the two of us together would be nice, we’ve just visited a local photography studio, I’m looking at $400 for a nice set of pictures, maybe more than we NEED, but I would like to share with my family as well as his, and we never did have a real wedding, so no pictures other than what my Dad took with his digital camera. For his 16 year old brother we figured we’d give him a gaming system, like a Nintendo DS Lite. His Aunt Judy is a very professional woman and living with them, I have NO IDEA what to get her. Also there is an “Uncle” Harry, whom has had a bad run of luck since all of his life savings were invested into the stock market, and it’s gone badly for the last several months. He’s also in the hospital, once he gets out… well with no job, who knows how he will survive. Is there anything else which I haven’t thought of yet that I need to worry about? As soon as I get a chance to I am going to research how it will work if I use my Visa credit card in another country, to see how painful that will be. If it gets down to be THAT bad then I will have to take a loan to get the money to take with us on the trip, and we’ll just figure out a way to budget. I know that others have told me about traveling internationally with an AT&T cell phone. I don’t imagine anyone will HAVE TO call me, but in the event that they need to I would like to know it is an available option. Buying a pre-paid sim card there would probably be a waste, considering if we needed to make a phone call we could make it from the landline at home or from a pay phone to call locally. OK! Sorry I know that was long. Thanks for helping! moreResolved Question: What is the best way to plan a trip to Hawaii for a family of 4?
We have never really planned a big trip like this before. Do I go on those discount travel websites? Do I get a travel agent? get airfare and hotel separate? Together? long ago, i read that if not for the holiday season spending, stores would all go belly up. the merchants said that the holidays are what keeps them in business at all. and, do you remember that our economy practically fell apart when we had been attacked on 911? no one was out spending money, most definitely, not for air travel! this has had far reaching effects on air travel in general. bargains on airfare are long gone. how has your spending changed since the bailout? do you spend less, or more? or, what are your plans on buying for the holiday season? will you spend about as much as usual, or will you cut back? why? how will you cut back? if you own a business, has the interest rate on your short term loans gone up? by how much? how is this affecting the way you spend to run your business? are you laying off members of your labor force? why? who is now taking money from their money market account and buying commodities like silver and gold? you? why? or, are you putting more money into savings? in what form (IRA, 401K, etc.), and why? do you think you will buy a house as the prices drop? how about that car you've wanted? can you get the loan you need to buy it? or are you deferring buying it? why? is it more likely now, after the bailout, that you will be laid off? or have you only heard rumors? are you frightened? what are you doing if you are frightened? please let me know your age and location. i love elaborate answers! show me the how, when, why, where, and what. moreResolved Question: travelling to Nepal in NOvember?
