Louisiana Travel Questions asked

Resolved Question: What will happen if I travel without a license plate?

My dad was working on my bumper and took off the license plate to my car -- basically the license plate ending up staying in the back of his truck and ended up going to Louisiana with him, where it still is. (I'm in Tennessee.) He isn't sending it by mail because he plans on coming up here soon. But, the way he is, that could be tomorrow or late next week. He suggests that I go ahead and go down there without a license plate... I have the registration and all that. But I am still very afraid of getting a ticket, which I CAN NOT afford. What should I do?? Ignore my worries? Or just wait it out until he gets back up here?  more

Resolved Question: What to expect when traveling to North Carolina in late December/January?

So I'm from Texas and we don't really get much action as far as snow goes - we have some ice/sleet to deal with but rarely does the snow actually stick to the ground. I was wondering what to expect if I take a road trip to North Carolina leaving in late December and returning early January. We'd be traveling through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and SC. It'd be great to know if I'd probably encounter inclement weather on my way there or back. Would I need snow chains on my tires? Thanks.  more

Voting Question: What would happen in this situation?

Im a minor child that is in high school in florida, and today my dad told me that someone offered him a job on an oil rig in lousiana. The company offered to buy our current house, pay for the move and travel expenses, and pay for a new house. The only problem is, my dad is a working single dad. My mother is out of the picture, and does not have custody of me. The job on this oil rig consists of 6 month working, 6 month non working alternating shifts. Should my dad take this job in louisiana, where would i go for those 6 months a year that he is living and working offshore on an oil rig? i really need some answers  more

Resolved Question: Where would i be able to transfer these college credits?

I am currently attending a local university in Louisiana, I have about 15 hours left to graduate, but I am unhappy. I hate this university, they have given me problems all along the way. I would love to transfer to another one in Louisiana that would accept all credits or to a accredited online university. My major is psychology, any ideas would be helpful. I wanna travel, so I am leaning more towards a online university. Thanks to all of you  more

Resolved Question: Am I wrong to hate all this holiday travel?

My family lives in Louisiana. My wife's family is in Oklahoma. My wife and I live in Texas. Both our parents are divorced. We have small children. My first instinct is to just stay here and let relatives come to us for the holidays. We went to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving, spent all of our time off there and have been sick all week long. We are going to Louisiana for Christmas and I am dreading the possibility of continuing to be exhausted. My wife wants our kids to spend time with their extended family. I just want to do this in moderation. Am I being reasonable or do I just need to shut and be positive?  more

Resolved Question: Cool, affordable, pretty city in the Southwest or Southeast?

Hey all, I'm thinking about starting over, moving someplace where I don't know anyone. I've heard a lot of great things about places in New Mexico, Arizona, and Louisiana. I'm open to all ideas, though. If you could give me some suggestions I'd appreciate it, because I haven't done much traveling myself! Things I'm looking for-- Should be relatively safe for a single girl to bop around alone in. Libraries, art museums low rent and sunny days I love to walk so I'd like to live somewhere with beautiful places to wander around--canyons, deserts...the Garden District... (I'm just getting over a split and the walking/thinking would be good for me) A city with a lot of serious, ambitious artists would be ideal--I've been thinking a lot about Paul Graham's essay "Cities and Ambition." A tall order! Have any of you ever been to a place like this? Thanks. I can't wait to read your ideas and google them!  more

Resolved Question: Is it safe for two white girls, both 18, to travel by car to the South US? What areas should we avoid?

My friend and I were thinking of taking a road trip in January to Louisiana, driving through Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas along the way, but I have had some feedback about certain Southern areas being dangerous for Caucasians to travel through. Is this true? And if so, what areas should we avoid? Thanks! So far I am glad to hear that it would not be unsafe for me to travel, as long as common sense is involved. It is a trip I've been wanting to make for months! This question was not meant to be racially offensive to anyone, and I apologize if it came off that way. I am simply concerned for my safety because of the things that I've heard, which is why I am asking for clarification. Thanks so much for the answers!  more

Resolved Question: What are some ways to help my 7 months old like the car/car seat?

When my son was 3 weeks old we traveled from Florida to Louisiana. We started living in Louisiana when he was 2 months old. We traveled back to Florida for his appointments and to visit Family every two months. Now when i put him in his carseat he screams. Right when we open the door to the car he trys to climb over your back. When his body touches the seat he arches his back and crys. No matter where, how far, or what we do he crys the whole trip and hardly ever falls asleep. Does anyone have an idea as to what to do. I also did the number one no no. I turned him front facing at 6 months, it calmed him down a little so i thought it was better than nothing. Help Please!  more

Resolved Question: What is this Horror Movie Called?

I saw a horror movie a while back that was about a woman (played by a famous actress, but I can't remember who) that lived in Louisiana as a nurse, and she traveled to the middle of no where to take care of an old man that was trying to run away. It was about voodoo magic, and in the end the old woman doing the magic took over her body so that she could stay forever young. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I can't think of the actress's name. It's a blonde actress like Julia Stiles. I thought it was her at first memory, but I looked up her credits and couldn't fine anything about it. More Description: The blonde lives in new Orleans (I think) and is a nurse. To make more money, she takes a job driving out to the middle of no where to take care of an old man. The old man is terrified of his wife, and tries to run away all the time, but he can't talk. The blonde finds out that the wife knows voodoo, and consults an expert and learns a protection spell. In the end, you find out that the handsom lawyer is the husband's soul in a young lawyer's body, and that the old man is the lawyer's actual soul. The woman takes the blonde's body and puts the blinde's soul in her old, beaten up body in the end. ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Thank you thrombus! For all those curious, the actress was Kate Hudson. I was close :P  more

Voting Question: Louisiana child support help/ need info!?

There has to be a way out of this...my husband pays child support for 3 kids. 2 moms. 515.00 a month to one and 2000.00 a month to another. We can barely afford this!! He works 80-90 hours a week all over the united states...he has to travel around different states to make the most money he can find to pay this! He works construction. He also carries insurance on all kids even though the mom said in court that she world carry it (so the child support would stay higher). We have another child together that is 10 mos old. He is never home to see us any more because he has to work all over. He makes any where between 1500-4000 a week btw. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Im nervous to try for a decrease and get an increase instead. Please help with info...we have a home and a new baby that he can never see! Let me also add that I am not looking for a way out of this, but this is an insane amount, just some sort of decrease would be nice, we also have our own living expenses. I feel like if I would divorce my husband put him on child support, I would come out ahead -but still stay with him. I want to stay married in the eyes of God, but it's almost impossible to. he make 130,000 a year and were always broke! The only reason my husband works so many hours and makes that amount of money is because he has to if we want anything in life. If he only worked 40 hours a week he would make around 700$ which would all be child support. we live on his overtime  more

Resolved Question: Do You Know The Name Of The Book I Am Looking For?

Unfortunately over the years of my trying to find this book the details have started to fade. But here is what I remember. - First of all I am 98% sure it is a trilogy. - The heroine is on the cover of ONE of the books wearing a red dress (possibly on a ship), and I think she is blond. - The name of THAT book, POSSIBLY is about the dress or the colour of the dress. Scarlet "something", or "something" Fire, or Crimson "something" perhaps... Sorry, these are guesses and they could all be wrong. - It is Absolutely a Historical Romance. - It was definitely written BEFORE 2001 and possibly even before 95. In the story, because it is a trilogy, there is A LOT that takes place. A few of the details I remember though: - At some point (in the begining of the first book) she is shipped to the U.S. for stealing. She was set up by the lord of the house she was in however, she didn't steal. - She (I think), is bought as an indentured servant. Either she escapes, or it is after she is set free, she travels South with a man who leads her through the jungles near and on the Mississippi River. I believe she ends up in Louisiana. - She tries to make her way and ends up throughout the three stories having several lovers. - She ends up at some point getting kidnapped by a pirate who keeps her on his island with another girl. They are servants in his household and he (of course) rapes her. When they escape they leave on a little boat heading toward Texas or Louisiana. But they are attacked by Indians and the other girl who she has become friends with get shot with a poisoned arrow. The friend dies. - In one of the books (I think it is the second one in which she is wearing the red dress on the cover, but it could be the last book.) She is back in England again, and has a famous artist paint her in the red dress. I believe she is also mixed up in a theatre group. I know this isn't a lot to go on AT ALL! I am just hoping somebody who either read this book recently or loved it as much as I did will have a bell ring off with some part of these descriptions. Thanks everyone.  more

Resolved Question: Would any of you care to read this interesting story that i wrote?

Please let me know of any grammatical errors i have made, if you want to read more of this story just email me and provide me with your email address so that it could be sent. Yahoo answers is cutting the majority of my story. email address: v_uhiara@yahoo.com Thanks! “When one door closes, another one opens” August 29, 2005 my whole life began to change. I found myself trembling in fear as tears run down my face. My family was right beside me, praying and waiting for a relief, as a monstrous storm named Hurricane Katrina began to take its place. As all of this was happening, we thought the world was coming to an end. Luckily, there was a moral that I learned from this catastrophe, which changed my whole life and future. Saturday morning, we were jumping with joy, not knowing we were jumping for doom as our parents were finally leaving us. They were about to travel very far to Maryland. It was not very often that our parents would travel. This meant that we should make good use of our time. No one was there to restrict us from doing anything we desired. We could watch movies and talk on the phone as much as we wanted. We did not have to hear these four despised words for once, “Go read your books.” Everything went really smoothly. The only thing which made the day horrible were my five younger little brats. They were causing so much chaos. The whole house was a mess. Fortunately, I had my siblings cooperate with me to get the house clean. On Sunday afternoon, I was really looking forward to going outside. As I stepped outside the house, I noticed the grey clouds covering the bright, shining sun. Unfortunately, I made my way back into the house. I decided to watch a few movies on demand for the remainder of the time. Uhiara 2 As I was watching my movie, the phone just so happened to ring. It was my Auntie Kenny, sounding really concerned. She asked, “Where are your mom and dad?” I told her that they were in Maryland, and that they wouldn’t be back until Monday. So, she ended the conversation by saying, “Thank you.” Thirty minutes later, my mother called the house. She wanted to know everything that we had done, since she had left. Surprisingly, I happened to tell her the truth. All of sudden she began to yell at me through the phone. She yelled, “Do you not know that a hurricane is heading toward our city!” I became speechless and scrolled down to channel three. I did not really worry much about the hurricane. Almost all the hurricanes, which came to New Orleans, were not really much of a big deal. Unfortunately, I began to have doubts about this one. This hurricane, which was ready to make the landfall the next day, began to concern me. When I began to wonder about the other hurricanes, which had hit Florida a few weeks ago, I thought about the large amount of damage that occurred right after the storm. Therefore, I was hoping that the type of damage, which had happened in Florida, would not happen in Louisiana. My main concern happened to be whether or not if my parents would come home in time to save us from this incoming storm. As I was watching the news, they mentioned that the flights going to and from New Orleans, were soon to be cancelled. All of sudden, fear overcame my body. I was praying that my parents would catch the last flight back home. I regretted rejoicing to the fact that my parents had left. I really wanted them to come back home. My little brother was three years old at the time. He asked, “Are mommy and daddy Uhiara 3 coming back home?” I responded by shrugging my shoulders. As a result, he looked at me weirdly and left the room. I turned my head back to the television and saw the Red Lobster commercial. My stomach was growling, and I haven’t eaten anything since morning. I decided to go into the kitchen to make a sandwich. A few minutes later, we saw the gate to the door open. My siblings yelled, “It’s mommy and daddy!” Our hearts were filled with happiness. We did not expect for them to be back so soon. I and my five younger siblings went to hug our parents, and we took their bags. We wondered what caused our parents to look so angry yet seem so happy. The following morning, there was an announcement stating, “All Orleans Parish Schools Will Be Closed.” I was extremely happy that school would be closed. I had more time to sleep and finish my homework. As the day proceeded, we continued to watch the news. My mother was monitoring the news to check if any mandatory evacuations would be in effect. The only way we would evacuate, was if the government announced a mandatory evacuation. Since I was born up to August 2005, we have never evacuated. My sister and I, had our fingers crossed, hoping the evacuation would be mandatory. A few minutes later, we saw the headline stating, “Mandatory Evacuation.” I was strangely excited to read that headline. Finally, for the first time ever, we were going to evacuate. We a  more

Resolved Question: Traveling and pumping breastmilk?

Hello! My husband and I will be traveling in November to Louisiana (we're driving) with our baby (she'll be 4 months old). I'm already pumping and freezing breast milk and so far I have 4 bags, 4oz. each. I'm also planning on pumping in the car and give that milk as well. I usually pump about 2oz per pumping session. I also supplement with formula and I really don't want to give her formula exclusively in the car (since obviously we won't be stopping every 2-3 hours to breastfeed; if we do that we'll never get to Louisiana!) My question is, can anyone give me tips on how to store the already frozen milk in the car for the ride (it'll be a 10 hr drive and we will possibly stop mid-way there and stay overnight at a hotel)? Any feedback from moms who have done this before will be greatly appreaciated! Thanks! Yes, we will be stopping every 2-3 hours to use the restroom, etc. but I won't be nursing since that'll be another hour in a stopped car that we could be driving instead.  more

Resolved Question: I want to travel around the world. Advice?

I was think of the U.K to start working in a pub for a few months, saving up and moving around Europe for a few weeks before flying to India, Thailand and Australia. I like the idea of teaching English but I am still in college and don't have a degree yet. Has anyone done something like this? Any tips on how to get started? I would love some idea of finding work abroad to support myself. I doubt I could save enough for this amount of time.  more

Resolved Question: Is it possible for a family of 4 to visit Disney World for under $2,000 TOTAL and still be enjoyable? ?

Hi :) I had the amazing opportunity to visit Disney World this summer. Since I won the trip through 4-H, my family was unable to come with me. As anyone who has visited Disney previously can understand, I immediately fell in love and have been trying to find a way to get my family there since. I am hoping to try to plan a trip sometime during 2010. 4 members of my family would be attending (the youngest being 16/17 in 2010, so it would be all adult tickets). We live in Lake Charles, Louisiana and would most likely be driving, So gas would need to be included in our budget. I know it's very hard to count for gas, since there is no clue how much it will be in 2+ years. This budget of $2,000 would need to include: -Gas -Tickets(and bonus options such as fast-passes, park hoppers, etc) -Food -Hotel -Souvenirs -Wheelchair/electric scooter rentals -And other things I'm probably forgetting :) I have many questions/options to conceder such as: - Is it better for us to buy a package or to buy tickets separately? - If we do buy a package, which one? - When is the best time to go? - Should we stay inside or outside of the parks? - Which hotels inside the parks and outside of the parks are the cheapest? - Should we purchase a meal plan? - Can you buy fast-passes for all of the parks? - Where can you buy fast-passes? How much are they? is it worth it? - Also, my father is physically disabled. What can we do to help him enjoy his stay? -Is it better to buy a package/tickets ourselves, or should we contact a traveling agent? I have done some research, so please don't just tell me to look at the Disney web sites. What I really want/need more then anything is first hand advice from others who have planned Disney vacations before. Of course we would like to stay as many days as possible for our budget and be able to visit as many parks as possible for our budget. If anyone could give ANY advice on how I can make this budget work, it would be greatly appreciated. Also if I have not provided enough information, please contact me at Hyperchick1037@aol.com and I will try to help you help me. (please title your e-mail : Referring to your Yahoo Post about your 2010 Disney trip...) Thank you so much for taking your time to help my family :) Hey guys. I think I should have been a little more specific about my father. He isn't wheelchair bound. He has major back problems. He is able to walk on his own and gets around daily with out any assistance. However, with the walking required at Disney, he would need a wheel chair (preferably a motorized one). Also, we would not be going to either of the water parks, but we are interested in going to Orlando Universal Studios Islands of Adventures. We definitely would like to go to Magic Kingdom (of course), Animal Kingdom, and Universal Studios. As for Epcot and MGM...it would just depend on how long we would be able to afford to stay and if we could afford the tickets. Just thought I should clarify. And thanks SO much for every one who has responded, it really means a lot and I'm getting a ton of great advice!  more

Resolved Question: lemon tree leaves turned brown, what to do.?

I recently purchased a baby lemon tree from florida. It came in a little travel bag and looked to be in good health. On my way from traveling from Florida back to Louisiana we stopped somewhere for a few hours. I left my plant in the car. When I got back in a few hours later the plant was very moist in the bag and the leaves turned brown(completely). When I arrived back in louisiana I put it in a bigger pot and placed it by a window (following the packages directions) I was hopping they would have turned back to green by now but there still brown and its been over a week. Now the leaves are getting crispy and the baby plant looks like its dying. What do I need to do so that it doesn't die?  more

Resolved Question: People to People program?

ok, here's the deal: i'm 13, about to be 14 in like 2 months. i live in north louisiana. and i'm heading into the 8th grade. last fall, during the month of october i went to Washington D.C. (and we visited other cities, such as Philadelphia) in the JrNylc program. I've also got letters since then to participate in Pylc (or something like that) to attend the president's inaguration in january of 2009 but i don't really want to attend that program mainly cause I've already been to D.C. and that's alot of money for basically the exact same things as before. Then today, I got a letter in the mail from the 'People to People' program. They said I'm nominated to go to a 19 day trip in EUROPE!!!! (Italy, Swittzerland, Austria, France) I'm like stoked. I've never been out of the country. The farthest I've ever traveled (other than D.C.) is Tennessee. Yeah, I was just wondering how much do you think all this will cost? And how do we get from country to country? Do we fly? If so, do we have to buy the plane tickets? Or does that go into the main cost? How is everything set up? Are we in groups like we were in JrNylc? Just tell me everything you know. Please! I already reserved a spot in a local meeting that explains everything. But, that's in like 1 1/2 month and I'm kind of anxious. By the way, where do we stay? I read something about staying with another family? But I wasn't quite clear. Well, I knew that I would have to fly to Europe. I'm not an idiot. I mean to say "Are we going to have to fly from country from country?" But since, Texas is almost bigger than Europe, I'm sure we will just drive all those places. And, to the living with family thing, I only asked that because the letter says "Friendships and memories -- Stay with a warm, welcoming host family or expierence European life during a stay in a tradition guest house." and I didn't really understand that. Oh, another thing, I'm going during summer 09. So since Europe is across the world I'm guessing it will be cold over there? What kinds of clothes should I wear over there? Resolved Question: Travel in Louisana recommendations, pls

Can you give me a short 10 day itenerary to enjoy Louisiana for 2 adults, a teen, and a 5 year old girl. We'll start in New Orleans French Quarter for 4 days (Sat-Wed, and several days in Baton Rouge (Wed-Fri), but we have Fri-Mon left to fill in and would like to have an idea what else to do. Also we're not sure since we want to travel where the best swamp tour is (is it better in New Orleans or elsewhere). We definetly want to feel the Cajun, Creole, Arcadian adventure, need to know which plantation is the best, which swamp park is the best. It seems like every town has a swamp, a plantation, and everything else, but we'd like to find the ultimate of each to do in the state so we can best enjoy.  more

Resolved Question: Is this a good horror story?

Into the Swamp The muddy, thick water was still below the rotted trees, the top of which seemed to block out the night sky. Haunting sounds rang through the darkness of the swamp, as the fog swept over the dreary land, setting an uncomforting mood. The ground was almost pure mud, mold covered the majority of it. A certain sick feel lived inside the swamp, which had no name. No human lived within 10 miles of it, and hardly anyone ever went in, for there was no purpose. Few animals lived in the area near regular land. Riley Black stumbled into this setting clutching a shotgun in his right hand and his injured right shoulder in his left hand. On his back was a carry on bag filled with $500,000, shotgun shells, and a flashlight. He limped, feeling as if he was too dizzy to continue, and he was going to collapse. A couple dozen yards in, he reached a dreary, cold body of water, and on the muddy banks of which sat an old, wooden ferry boat. It looked as if it wasn't able to stay afloat in the water. It creaked in an uncomfortable manner as Black put his left foot in. He sat down slowly, grabbed the oar, and set off. The wood on the boat, much like the trees in the swamp, was dead and rotted. He could barely see through the fog, but none the less, the oar continued to make it's way slowly through the muggy waters. He glanced up at the the tree tops as the boat skimmed through the water. Crows soared furiously through the foggy air, screaming at one another. His concentration was broken by a small tug on the oar. He looked down at the water. Moments passed. Nothing. Just as he started to continue, a figure leaped out of the water and clutched to the side of the ferry boat. Black looked over at what was trying to climb on to the boat. His body went still as he stared into the face of a decomposed, human-like creature. It's face was rotted away and boney, with green, dead skin. It's teeth were clearly visible through it's almost absent mouth. It's right eye was popped out more so than the left, and it's nose was just dead skin that wrapped tighly around the nose bone. It had a small amount of grey hair atop it's head. It made it's way onto the boat, revealing a skeleton like figure bundled up in old clothes much like a bum would wear. It gave a loud, horrifying, high-pitched shriek as it lunged toward Black. He snapped out of his trance and quickly grabbed the shotgun. He aimed and fired, hitting it right between the eyes. The creature fell off the boat and sank back into the water. He put the gun down and stared at the spot the monster had just stood. Sweat dripped down his face, and he breathed uncontrollably. "I heard a gunshot over there!" said a voice from the entrance of the swamp. "Aw Christ. How'd they track me?" he thought. He picked up the oar and paddled as fast as he could. Within minutes, he reached the opposite bank. He hopped out of the boat and into the mud, which was about four inches deep. Gathering his stuff together, he looked around , thinking about his direction. He walked a a bit aways further. "You lost?" said a woman's voice. Black turned to see a smiling old woman in a sundress and hat. Both the items she was wearing were covered in a flower covered pattern, which definately didn't match the place she wasin. Black's temper quickly came into play, for he was greatly impatient at the moment, but before he could say anything, she interuptted him. "The cabin your lookin' for is just o'er that direction" said the woman pointing, then she turned and walked down a muddy path. Black turned to see an old cabin. "That was not there before. Who ar-". She was gone. "That's impossible!", He thought, frantically looking around the path she had traveled. He stood there for a moment before shaking it off and heading towards the cabin. * * * Earlier that day, in the City Diner in a small town in Louisiana, Jackie Randle sat waiting and enjoying his burger. Randle was a tall, pale guy with a ragged look to him. His old, paint covered Pantera shirt and ripped jeans didn't say much about him. He finished his food and leaned back. "I hope this guy Hanley's bringin' is good. He obviously sucks at arrivin' on time, I don't think he's that responsable to pull somethin' off like this." he thought. Just then, a man in jeans and a plad shirt walked in to the quiet lttle diner. He was a regular sized guy, handsome face and combed back hair. He looked like a dirty man. one who cared little about hygene. It looked like he wasn't sure about what he was doing. He had certain nervousness about him. Randle looked up, "Guess you're the guy I'm lookin' for?". The man show a toothy grin said,"I guess so. You Jackie Randle?". Randle nodded and stuck his hand out. The man shook his hand pleasently and sat at the opposite seat in the booth. "You gonna order anything? You Hungry?", asked Randle. Almost insantly the man replied, "No. I'm just here to get the plan together. Nothing else." Randle hesitated before nodding. "Where's Hanley?" asked the man, who for some reason seemed to be getting impatient. "He'll meet us there," They sat there for an hour going over notes. Randle said, starting to wrap it up," So let's go over the plan, Hanley'll walk into the bank, gun in pocket, and sit in the waiting area. You'll walk in and go up to the tellar farthest from the front door. That's when I walk in and and immediatly take out the security gaurds. You stick up that tellar there and tell 'em to open the vault. Hanley'll come into play if anyone trys to get near us, in which he'll pick off the gaurd or whoever's tryin' to be a hero. We'll improvise after we get out of there, but Hanley's bringing his car and he's got an old cabin out in a swamp about a half an hour from here. You got it?" The man nodded and asked "We're supposed to be there in twenty minutes. I got the guns in my trunk and we can walk from here, it's only three blocks." Randle gave a thumbs up. "Man, this guy's weird, but he seems to know what he's doing. I'm not gonna question Hanley. This guy- wait what's his name?" He thought. "Excuse me, uh, guy?" Randle said catching up with him,"What's you're name? We've been talking for like an hour and I still don't know". The sharply dressed man hesitated, then looked up ,"Black. Riley Black." * * * The fog seemed to grow thicker, and Black knew it was only a matter of time before those cops found him. He immediatly went to the corner of the two story cabin's first floor and sat down. He sat down and pulled out a pocket knife. He took a long breath before sinking it into the hole in his right shoulder. He let out a silent scream as blood seeped out and down his arm, and within ten seconds, the bloody bullet fell to the filthy cabin floor. He then cut off part of his shirt and wrapped it around the already festering wound. He checked the bag to make sure the goods were still there and he quickly yanked up the shotgun and went up the stairs. There were four empty bedrooms upstairs, all of which had the same feel as the swamp. The cabin was hundreds of years old and hadn't been inhabited for about fifty years. He stood at the broken window and waited for about ten minutes before the two cops found the cabin. One stayed outside and and the other quietly went in. Black squinted and pointed the end of the shotgun out the window and and picked the cop off. The bullet went into his heart. Black quickly turned to the bedroom door and waited for cop two to come rollin' through the door. Since he had shot the other cop, cop two was surely on his way. As soon as he came through the door, he was on the ground and bleeding from the neck. Black walked over to the dying man and looked down at him. He raised the gun, aimed, looked away, and fired. Blood was now all over the walls of the little bedroom. Black wiped the blood off his face and sat in the far corner of the room near a closet. The closet was locked and Black was a little too shooken up to go looking around in the old house. Darkness wasn't far off, the fog was still holding strong. He began to get dizzy, his head started to wobble. He passed out right there in the corner. "Wake up!" Black heard the voice of Hanley. He blinked a few times before looking across the room. There stood Randle and Hanley. They had a lantern with them and two guns, and that was about it. "What's wrong with you?", yelled Hanley,"Killing the cops and not disposing of the bodies or their boat! You and Randle go fix it, now!" Black stood up, anger boiling inside of him,"Why in God's name would you ever choose this swamp? I had a zombie-thing leap outta the water like Jason, I saw a ghost woman just walkin' around in the swamp, I- I'm freakin' out here!" Hanley, looking annoyed, said "You're just a little worked up. Now do what I said." Black moved towards the dooor and turned around. "Watch him!" said Black and he walked out of the room. Hanley looked greatly confused. Randle and Black walked down the stairs. Black noticed that they had hung lanterns up in nearly ever room of the cabin, including the backdoor where the cop came through. They walked out that same backdoor and stopped. "Black, I'll go do somethin' with the boat, you go do somethin' with Robocop over near the tree." He watched Randle walk into the black with his lantern. He fished for his flashlight in his front pocket and proceeded out of the lantern's light. He walked over to the cop's body, but stop after almost stepping on a dead rabbit. He looked down and studied it. It's flesh was half gone and it was missing a back leg. He got a bit closer and squinted. The rabbit's body twitched! He jumped slightly back, but then felt kinda stupid. Just then, the rabbit began to twitch violently, then it stopped. It rose up on it's three remaining legs. Black backed up and followed the rabbit with the light, and he watched as it hopped over to the cop's body. It paused for a moment before looking at Black and then grabbing the cop's collar by the mouth and somehow dragging it far off into the woods. Black stood there in absolute shock. The moment was then broken by Randle's screaming. Black quickly ran over to the water bank to see all three boats and Randle sinking rapidly in the mud. Black lunged forward to grab his hand, but was stopped as the mud began to move, as if something was crawling through it. Suddenly, a figure of mud began to form from the ground up. It stood, pure mud, about ten feet tall. It had no facial features, it was just a basic human-like shape. It looked up at the moon and a mouth began to open up, letting out a peircing howl. Black shot at the mud monster, but the bullets did nothing but get lost in the figure. It looked down and let it's body fall on Randle and the boats, all of them disappearing, drowning in the deep, deep mud. Then, the muddy waterside returned to how it was before any soul had touched. It regained it's normal shape. The swamp grew silent. The fog stopped dead in the air. Black stood in one spot, trying to collect his thoughts. He looked up at the spot where Randle met his demise. His eyes grew wide at what was now happening. He screamed as the water began to move, as figures arose. Creatures, much like the one Black dealt with on the ferry boat, limped out of the water. The creatures caught site of Black and headed in his direction. They all very much resembled his ferry boat friend. Rotted flesh, bolging eyes, skeleton figures. Moaning. Dazed. They were zombies. He turned and ran toward the cabin as fast as he could manage to move. He began to slow down when he heard the voice of a woman singing. A dreary, beautiful voice filling the air. He couldn't make out the words. He looked over to the area of the sound, where he saw the woman in the sundress slowly walking and singing. She stopped and turned to him. His spine began to shake and the hair on his body stood up. She smiled for a moment, before her now transparent body began to quiver and fall to the ground. Her flesh began to fpeel away from her bones, leaving a skeleton in a sundress lying in am pile flesh. Then within a split second, it disappeared. He hesitated and continued towards the cabin. "Hanley we gotta get outta here now!" He said running up the stairs. He ran into the room, but was stopped at the sight of the the corpse of the cop feeding off of Hanley. "Man, Hanley, I told you to watch him." He said raising the shotgun. The corpse looked up at him. It had not yet rotted like the other zombies, but it still had those menacing bolging eyes. It hissed at him, right before taking a bullet to the forehead. He walked over to Hanley's body and put a bullet in it's head before it could change into one of those things. He peered out the window. The zombies stumbled toward the back door and into the cabin. He decided to wait out night and swim, seeing as how all three boats were under water. He'd sit in his corner of the room and pick off whatever came through that door. He had enough ammo to take down hundreds of them, and he had all the time in the world. * * * The 1978 corvette flew down the road. So fast the cop cruisers barely kept up. Randle sat in the passenger seat, turning around after every reload to shoot at the cop cars through the shattered back window. Black sat in the back doing the same while Hanley drove. "Where's the swamp?" Black asked reaching for more ammo. "Well, I didn't think they'd keep up like this, so one of you two has to get the loot and tuck and roll at the next sharp turn. The swamp entrance is marked by a tree with a red spray painted X. Get in the swamp, there's two ferry boats. Take one across the water, cause that only way to get to and back from the otherside, and get to the cabin. It's about a ten minute walk from the opposite bank." Hanley said quickly. Black sighed "I'll do i-" but was interupted when a bullet hit him in the shoulder. He grabbed his arm and fell below the window. "They got me! They got me bad!". He looked down at his arm, which was pouring blood everywhere. He moaned in pain looked up a the ceiling of the car. "Can you still do this?" asked Hanley. "Yeah, yeah, just give me a second!" he cried still looking at the ceiling. "We don't have a second! We're turning now!" yelled Hanley. "Ok!" Black responded as he struggled up to the broken back window. Randle tossed him the bag with the money and Black grabbed his gun. They turned in an area where trees blocked the cops view of them, and vice versa. "It's now or never" he thought, and he lept from the back of the car, rolling into a ditch on the side of the road. * * * Riley Black sat in the corner of the abandoned swamp cabin, picking off every zombie that poked it's head through the door. His eyes were bloodshot, his hair was a mess, and he'd sat in that corner for the past few hours, just shooting. The amount of them calmed down, eventually, there were none coming through the bedroom doorway. He sat for a minute before rising and walking to the window. Daylight was soon coming. He walked to the doorway and looked down the steps. Nothing. He walked outside. Nothing was there. It was if everything had stopped. He walked over to the side of the water. "You're gonna die in here, Riley, but it's you're only chance." he muttured to himself. He put the shotgun in the bag, trigger out, and slung it on his back. He took the longest breath he ever took and dived in the water. It was about a ten minute boat ride, so he knew he;d be swimming for awhile. He swam for ten minutes without any truoble. The sudden hault of all these horrid events worried him, but this peace didn't last for long. In an instant, the sky melted into pitch black, and with the already hard to see through fog, he felt lost within the middle of the water. He stopped and doggy paddled to keep afloat. He looked around frantically in the dark, until his eyes stopped upon a light in the fog. He waited for a moment, as an empty ferry baot with a lantern on the pole float towards him. "This is the swamp playin' tricks on me." He thought "But once again, no choice at all." He pulled himself up on the boat and looked around. Nothing strange. He grabbed the oar and paddled faster than he'd ever paddled before. He came within sight of the bank he first entered the water on. He remained very alert, looking around at everything in his path. He reached land, grabbed the lantern, and quickly fled throughthe swamp. "This is way to easy of an escape." he thought in fear. He reached the entrance of the swamp and for the first time in about twelve hours, he smiled. He was yards from freedom of the horrific events that took place here. Suddenly, his foot was caught on something. He quickly glanced down to see a hand breaking through the Earth and clutching tightly to his ankle. He tried to shake free but the grip was too strong. He reached for the shotgun in his bag, but he had no ammo left. He paniced. He looked around as zombies began to pour onto the path. They edged closer. He fell backwards onto the ground. Three of them pin him down, while one of them opened it's decayed mouth. "The swamp loves to play tricks on me," he thought, "it put me so close to freedom, and just took it away with whatever evil has resided in this place. Sick, twisted games these waters play.". This was the final thought of Riley black before the creatures that pinned him down began to drag his feasted corpse back into the darkness. Back into the waters. Back into the swamp. Yep thanks  more

Resolved Question: Should I contest an unwarranted careless driving ticket in Louisiana?

My 18-year-old son was traveling on I-20 in Louisiana last week and had a horrific accident when his rear passenger wheel blew out while he was traveling the speed limit, 70 mph. Fortunately, he survived the ordeal with his few injuries -- but his vehicle didn't. The Louisiana Highway Patrol issued him a ticket for "careless driving," saying it was *required* for all single-vehicle accidents and that they "hated to do it," considering the circumstances. I find this difficult to fathom and wonder if it's worth our while to travel from several states away to contest this unwarranted ticket.  more

Voting Question: Traffic ticket violation?

Hello every one Any body can help about my speeding ticket. I was traveling from Louisiana, to Michigan. I am Mi resident. I got pulled over in KENTUCKY for speeding. The fine for speeding is $ 20.00; the court fee is $ 138.00. Is this normal? I called them and I said, I'll just pay the fine, and I will not do the court. The told me you still need to pay the court. Isn’t this a legal steal? I know in MI if you get a fine you, either you pay it, or if you want to go to court, call & set hearing day, and then if it's your fault, you will pay the court cost. You don’t pay court fee if you just pay your fine. What can I do about this? Is there any way to just pay the fine without the court fee? And what is going to happen if I don’t pay it at all? Peace Yeah DJ, but I'm not going to travle from Michigan to Kentucky just to atend the court. I will be spend money on the gas more than the tick cost.  more
