Resolved Question: Why does my 128 mb flash drive only have 122 mb?

it is a Memorex travel drive USB 20. It says on the label that it has 128 mb. It has no files on it. But two computers tell me that it only has a maximum of 122 mb. Is it just an issue with the computer? If the drive does indeed have only 122 mb, is there a reason why the label says 128 mb? Is this some kind of industry standard to measure space this way? more

Ok so I bought a USB Traval Drive the other day. I brought it home to load some English papers on it and it wouldnt work. I have a compaq computer but its Windows XP. I took it to school today and asked my teacher if it would work on her computer and she plugged it in and it worked. Is there something I need to do to get it to work on my computer because I really need this for my school work when I have to type it at home.If you give me advice it would be really nice if you give steps or explain to me how to do it. I have Windows XP and a Memorex Ultra Travel Drive. The external hard drive worked fine before, but all of a sudden my computer doesn't recognize it. I go to My Computer and the drive (typically E: for me) doesn't show up at all. I'm in 6th grade (age 12) and I have to do a project. i dont have to do a powerpoint, but i want to because i can type faster than i can cut draw and glue stuff down to posterboard. I don't have any other versions of office on my cpu except 2007 and my school has like 2003 i think. I'm not sure why, i told my teacher and he said something about saving things in years on the cpu? I have no idea at all what he meant and i'm pretty sharp with the cpu. I told him my dad put it on the cpu and my dad's pretty smart on the cpu and he said maybe my dad can help me fix it. It never will open (my powerpoint) on the school computer. the computer teacher didnt even know why. I use the travel flash drives. My dad's not home so he can't help right now (he'll probably be back soon) and my mom said to start my homework and be done soon so i can take a shower in a little while. I have a PSN i think it is attache flash drive that i put it on. My U3 Memorex drive was working fine yesterday. Today, I connected it back to the same computer and the light won't even come on. I believe the light mean that it's booting from the drive. I didn't do anything different to the drive. I alway EJECT it using the loaded U3 software. Is my drive dead? Is there any way I can get the data back from the U3 drive? I just got a Memorex mini u3 travel drive 1GB It works great, but when i use it on the library computers, it wont work, it just shows a hidden CD called U3 Files or something. I use my drive most at the library. I got this uninstallation program from sandisk. i can get rid of this u3 feature. WHAT DOU YOU THINK I SHOULD DO.I can use it in my windows xp machine. it's u3 compatible, I cannot use it to donload stuff at the library, But it works at school. I never use the u3 Feature. Using lexar jumpdrive, memorex travel drives, pny attache flash drive with Windows XP older computers. When plugged into USB port a notice that it would work faster if plugged into faster port flash at the bottom. However, the drives don't open automatically as they do on my newer laptop/desktop. Under my computer they don't show as any drive - anywhere. I can't get them to open using any method I know. I've tried to open saying a drive letter but since I don't know what drive - if any the drive has attached to I am unable to do so. I have an old laptop Win 98 SE. Recently I purchased a Memorex travel drive (Portable USB Drive) I uploaded the drivers from memorex website, but whenever I plug the USD portable drive into my laptop I receive an 'unknow device'. I click My Computer, Device manger, properties I only have two options to select from: General & Driver. Whenever I click 'Driver' it shows Microsoft 4-23-1999. So I click to update the driver. The computer always seaches for the micrsoft driver, not the drivers I just downloaded. To make matters worse, if I manual try to search for the drivers, in the folder I downloaded them. I receive a message that folder doesn't have any info for your driver. How can I get a work around this message? These are the drivers for the portable usb from the manufacters site. more

I've just finished reading instructions about downloading necessary driver from the memorex website and I'm a bit confused. This is where I get confused, "select download file once you have determined the appropriate driver, click on save, choose or create a folder on your computer's hard drive in which you want to save the zipped downloaded driver, you will install the driver from this folder after it has been downloaded as a zip file." After following some of these instructions, it seems it went into my WinZip, which I've never used before (and don't know how to use). I need to know what I should do from this point. more
