Voting Question: I'm trying to decide if I want to become a neonatologist or a neonatal practitioner. I've come to realize?

that many neonatologists have a very demanding schedule, but I want plenty of time to spend time with my kids and husband and take vacations over the summer (I love to travel and half of my family lives in the Philippines). This make me think that entering nursing school would be best, but I'm concerned the salary won't be adequate to help my parents save for their retirement, save for my own retirement, save for my children's college, and the other zillions of things I'll need to pay for (including travels). I dont have any urge to live in a big expensive home, but that might change if I have lots of kids...which i do want. This makes me think that becomeing a neonatologist would be most beneficial. Please help!  more

Resolved Question: Philippine passport (3 months to expire before travel)?

Hi, I am in the US and I am traveling to the Philippines this coming December 2008 and returning January 2009. My passport is due to expire on March 2009. I cannot have it renewed now because it takes 6 weeks and I'm leaving before I can get my new passport. The embassy suggested that they write a letter to the airline that I should be granted entry to the Philippines and that I should renew my passport as soon as I get there. I called the airline and they said that they will make a note on my reservation but there is not guarantee. What should I do? To: sw33tazn... Are you sure about this? Rush renew process in New York? I am in NY and the girl specifically told me that there is no way to rush this. 6 weeks is the time frame. May I ask how much did you have to pay for this?  more

Resolved Question: How do you like the wungwah?

I spawned a new monster I dreamed of for a horror novel. I dreamed of a certain kind of creature that's similar to a vampire. I call it "the wungwah." Like the vampire, a wungwah sucks the blood of its victim. Think of it as half-spider/half-vampire. The wungwah never ages and lives forever like the vampire. Like werewolves and vampires, peope turn into wungwahs. The area around their eyes turn black while the person develops fangs and black spots all over their skin like a leopard. Instead of growling, they hiss. The wungwah can turn it's victim into a wungwah by biting the person and injecting them with venom like a snake or spider. Most people think spiders eat their prey, but all they do is drink the blood. Like vampires, wungwahs must feed. Like Spider-man, the wungwah crawls along walls and ceilings and jumps high. They move at brisk paces and have super-human strength. They travel underground like moles. Unlike other folklore, the wungwah originates in The Amazon. The wungwah was spawned when the shaman of an Amazon Tribe drank mixture of venom, gypsum, belladonna, mandrake, datura, and morning glories. The shaman gave the potion to his tribe so they could defend themselves against Portuguese and Spanish invaders. The wungwah spread into surrounding areas of Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. As they progressed through Central America, the made their way into Mexico and the United States. The wungwahs made their way across the ocean through cargo planes and ships that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. They became meals on wheels for the wungwahs. Just as they have the name "nosferatu" for the vampire, they have a name "battaranda" for the wungwah. Battaranda means "nightcrawler" in the native language of the tribe. The wungwahs made their way to Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. This was another part of Montezuma's revenge. Some of the Aztecs, who became wungwahs, infected Spaniards. Ferdinand Magellan was killed in The Philippines when wungwahs overtook his ship and nearly drank the crew dry. The remaining members were the ones who defeated the wungwahs before they returned to Spain to carry out Magellan's legacy. The only ways to kill the wungwah are fire, salt water, and beheading. The Spaniards and Portuguese realized they had to throw the wungwahs overboard to make them disintegrate in the salt water. Many vampire slayers were killed fighting wungwahs. They learned they were fighting the wrong monster. When they tried to stake them through the heart, all they did was infuriate the wungwahs. Many people in Mexico and the Southwestern United States mistook the wungwahs for chupacabras. Like werewolves, the wungwahs travel in packs. Whenever they hang, they encircle their victims and spew venom into the person's eyes. Now the slayers face a new challenge. The only place you'll be safe from one of these is in salt water. Either that or you'll need a torch. The Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas were the only ones able to defend themselves against wungwahs by surrounding their fortresses with torches. Wungwahs are afraid of fire. An effective team of wungwah hunters would wear fireproof suits and carry flamethrowers. Or they would have to carry lots of swords to behead them. So now you know the legend of my new monster. Meet the wungwah!  more

Resolved Question: How safe it is to ride on the public transportation system in the Philippines?

The reason why I asked this question is because I came across some information from the State Department's website that warned Americans against traveling on the Manila Light Rail System, public city buses, and jeepneys due to safety and security concerns due to lethal terrorist bombings that occurred in them in the past. So how safe is it to ride in those forms of transportation in Manila? And what about public jeepneys for the rest of the country besides the Philippine capital?  more

Resolved Question: How often can a tourist (B2) visa holder travel to the US?

I came back home to the Philippines last Sept 11 after a one month vacation in the US. Won't i have a problem coming to the US again (as a tourist) this Christmas? I asked that question because I've heard that a person who has a B2 visa would be denied entry to the US if he would travel within six months after his departure. I don't know if this is the right venue for my question. Do you think it would be better if i just inquire at the US embassy? I can't find the answer to my question in their website. Resolved Question: Do you think my young filipina wife will think I am wierd if I tell her to call me daddy?

I am an older australian man and I can't get a girl in Australia so I go to the Philippines and these young girls really get me going. I'm ok with the fact that they are using me but we both pretend like we love each other and most people here on YA buys into it. I have trouble in the real world though cause even though nobody comes out and says anything I know they think it is wierd for me to have such a young girl for a wife. I know this because they give me that look. I am ashamed of myself on the inside but on the outside I try to hold my head up high and face the real world. Facing the real world is so hard for me in fact that I travel to the Philippines as much as I can to get any from the reality of life. Why can't I find a hot girl of my own race? How come girls of my own race don't find me attractive? Why I am forced to go to the Philippines to fulfil my devious desires? I am in my 50's and my wife is in her 20's. I am so ashamed of myself. Is this normal? Are there any other people in this place that are in the same boat I am in?  more

Resolved Question: How do you like my new monster?

Last spring, I was discussing my new monsters that I spawned for a horror novel. It's a monster that I dreamed of. Sometimes when I'm either waking up or going to sleep, I hear words as I'm in my subconscious state of mind. They sound like the names of objects or places. I've even heard real-sounding names. I dreamed of a certain kind of creature that's very similar to a vampire. I call it "the wungwah." Like the vampire, a wungwah sucks the blood of its victim. Think of it as half-spider/half-vampire. That's the best way I can describe it. The wungwah never ages and lives forever like the vampire. Like when a person turns into a vampire or a werewolf, they will do the same when they turn into wungwahs. The area around their eyes turn black while the person develops black spots all over their skin like a leopard. They develop fangs, too. Instead of growling l, they hiss. The wungwah can turn it's victim into a wungwah if he/she chooses. They do this by biting the person and injecting them with venom like a snake or spider would. Resolved Question: Trip to the Philippines?? (Bulacan)?

I have a dear friend in Bulacan, Philippines. She has asked me if I could "possibly" travel to her country by next year. (no, not for money, she has NEVER asked for money) She has just been really sad lately, and said she needs someone to comfort her. (specifically, me) The only problem is, I am 14 years old. So, I do not nearly have the money. (should I get a job??) Also...I speak some tagalog, so I could get-by decently (she speaks fluent english though, so its ok) Okay..back to the point, how do you think I could get there? (foreign exchange, etc.) She lives in Bulacan, Bulacan, Philippines. (i have known her for over 1 year) And, I live in around PIttsburgh, Pennsylvania. So, any help would be very much appreciated. Maraming salamat sa inyong time. Your kaibigan, Andy M. Well, I was thinking about having my mom's bf go with me (he used to be married to a Filipina from Angeles City) Also, I was hoping that she could do the translations for me. (i've spoken with her on the microphone [and webcam] before, and shes perfectly fluent in English) We've also sent letters to each other in the past, and not once, has she asked for any money. I would like to save up, so I can pay for it by msyelf. Oh, and she is 17. (no, it's not like im her bf or anything, we're seriously only friends) Also, there are many more reasons aside from her being sad. Thank you for all of your answers so far!  more
