Open Question: Pay as you go SIM card @ Walmart?

I will be traveling to the US soon for a business/vacation trip and want to avoid the cut-throat roaming charges from my Asian provider (something like 3 dollars or more a minute) and allow people from the US to call me (because if I give them my Asian number they will be reluctant to call). Can I just walk into a Walmart and buy a SIM card and minutes for the 3 weeks I'm there? Do I need to register the card and would it be a problem that I am not a US resident or citizen? My wife and I won a cruise package at a wedding expo a year and a half ago. The travel agent agreed to give us 850 dollars toward a cruise if we booked it through him. When we started looking into it, we found his cruises were mostly overpriced and we could get a better cruise via Priceline for much less. We asked him what to do and he told us to go ahead and book it through them and he would give us a cashier's check for 750, which was the credit he offered us minus his comission. We said great! And booked it. The total cost was over 1500 dollars. We paid about half up front, and the rest was due in August. As the date approached, we began contacting him by phone, email, and Facebook. We got only response from him saying he just purchased a store and was broke, but he would get us our money ASAP. And that's the last we heard from him. Now he ignores our calls, messages, emails, and he so far has ignored the Better Business Bureau's inquiries. We managed to pay the remaining balance of our cruise from our savings, but we really needed that to cover our bills while we're out of town. This cruise is meant to be a late honeymoon for my wife and I, and it's going to be hard to enjoy it knowing that we can't really afford it. So should I take this guy to court? Do you think I have a case? We don't have any signed agreement or contract, but we have a complete record of our emails, including him saying we should "jump on" the Priceline deal and he would pay us the 750. We've been civil with him, and he has no excuses. Should we pursue? What's the procedure? Do you think we could get that money? more

I was happy that day. A girl joined my office in the same process as I was in, and they were beautiful. In a team meeting my manager introduced them to all the team mates. few days later I got to talk to the girls, After some days of talks, I asked one of them to drop her to her home after office, she aggreed. till then I had no soft feeling for the girl, but she had something which was pulling me towards her. We had Corporate Phone numbers so we used to talk to each other daily, mostly all the day. Then something starting to happen, I started missing her. I wanted to see her everytime. I still remember the way she blushed and smile whenever I used to look at her. She was becoming the girl of my dreams. She used to look awesome whenever she used to wear Red, that's why I used to call her My Lady In Red. It had become a routine, I used to drop her home whenever I travelled on my own. Our favourite destination was a ice -cream parlour near a railway station.. and we always used to take her favourite ice-cream 'Choco-Chip'.Hewas loving that time, but sadly, soon I had to leave the company as i had to start a business. The day I told her she started to remain sad all the time. She didn't say anything to me but i cud tell from her eyes that her heart was crying. Soon the day came, the last day of my office. She locked herself in office's washroom cried all the time. I called her up many times but she said she was fine. But I cud hear her crying over the phone. I had to go to the cafetaria, I didn't want to leave her there. After my farewell, I went straight to her, she had brought a truffle cake and a wallet for me, I still hav that wallet, it is one of the most precious things that I have. Me, she and two of our friends celebrated the last day of my office. Our meeting didn't stop that day. We used to meet many times. She used to travel all alone from the office to my place even at night just to meet me. I wanted to meet her, but I was scared every time she used to travel alone at night as I was concerned about her safety. Days were passing by. She became my First Love, the only girl that I love, she became my Life, I wanted to be with her every second of my life. But The good days were about to end, She got a call letter from Bangalore, she had to join a Bank over there. She told me this and asked me whether she should go orNot. Even though I didn't want her to go, I wanted her to do best in her career so I told her to go as we promised to talk to each other every day. I asked her "If she would forget me or find other guy over there in the new city", Her response was in negative. But I was worried, As I didn't want to lose her. I Loved her. And wanted to spend rest of my life with her. I gave her a photograph of mine and her, the best picture that I have ever clicked. Sooner the day came, when she had to catch a train for Bangalore. She called up and asked me, whether I was coming to the station to see her off. I refused because I wanted to give her a surprise, I was already on the way the time she called. But it was my bad luck that there was traffic jam on every route that I took for the station. I reached Railway station, just to see the train moving and her brother going back after seeing her off. I really wanted to see her, as she was going to stay there for 1.5 years. After that weused to talk on the phone, which soon started to get very less, as Whenever any of both was free, the other person was busy. I was busy in my business and she was busy with her training. I didn't do it intentionally but I couldn’t talk to her every time she called. Then came my Birthday, I wished I cud be with her that day, I really missed her that day and wanted to spend my whole day with her. but that was not possible. She send me a Present, a Bluetooth Headset, a common friend delivered it to me. But I don't know why after few weeks she started to ignore me, She started to neglect my call, stopped calling me. We used to talk once in 4-5 days. I tried talking to her but She told me finally she didn't want to talk to me anymore and she told me she will choose a guy as per her family. She specified me many reasons, a new reason every time for not talking to me. I didn't want to do it. but one day she told me to ‘Be-Practical' and not try to call her or she wouldchange her mobile number if I call her again. My heart was broken, the only girl I loved was going far from me. I felt I was all alone in the whole world. That was the first and last time I cried in my life, but I didn't let her know of it. I Told her to give me back my photographs that I gave to her, but she told me that she had thrown those pics. and when she asked me about the Bluetooth I also told her that I have thrown away the Bluetooth that she presented me on my birthday. After that I didn't want to trouble her anymore, so I stopped calling her. It has been 3 months that I haven’t heard anything from her. I really want to talk to her, I really want to hear her voice, I want to see her.Now, I regret reaching late to the station, if I had reached there a bit early, I cud have seen her for the last time. I don't know whether she was serious for me, or I was just another guy for her. But the fact is that I can't love another girl in this life. She is the only girl I love and she has taken my heart along with her. The only thing that I have of her is the Bluetooth, which reminds me of her every time I see it. I don't know whether she loved me or not but I will always love her. I will never be able to forget her and will wait for her for the rest of my life. more

I would like to find some small businesses to offer my services for free... This is for me to practice some internet marketing skills that I wish to offer in the future... Getting a job overseas (Europe) while still in Canada...? I just got back from travelling Europe and was wondering if anyone knew recruitment agencies in Canada that could hook me up with a job overseas (i.e. uk, spain...). From my research so far, it seems like I need to take a leap of faith and fly to, say, London and then start looking for a job while I am there. I don't have the kind of money to move on a whim without a job or atleast a few serious prospects. Know of any agencies that would interview me here and then have a few job prospects for me upon arrival? The job doesn't have to be skilled or permanent, just enough to sustain me while living there. Open Question: Should boyfriend have asked me to go to the game?

I'm 58, my boyfriend is 61. He has seasonal football tickets, and has had them for over 20 years. Last year I didn't miss one game and even got to go to the super bowl with him. He owns a company and is the owner and boss. A few times a year he has times for him and his employees only, such as big Christmas parties, etc. This time he is taking all of them to the game, which is only a pre-season game, but since he bought extra tickets for many of them, I feel left out. I guess I do not understand why I cannot go. These are couples who work for him and I know every one of them very well, because we have all been together for dinners and even vacations. They all know and love me as I do them. There are 3 married couples going plus another woman who is married but is traveling to our state alone for the business part of the trip, yet she is going to the game since she too is working with my boyfriend. I'm in no way concerned there is anything going on between them, that is not an issue in the least. So supposedly only people who work for my boyfriend are going. Yet I am positive that one of the husbands who does NOT work for him is going. He is his secretary's husband. I feel that if HE is going, I see no reason why me being the boss's g/f, cannot go as well. I have not said anything to my boyfriend because we have had other disagreements on this same issue. When parties and things come up, I'm not allowed, it's employee people only. This is one of the major things that bothers me in our relationship. I realize he is an important businessman and there has to be meetings and all, but is this how business is ran normally? Do other business people give their people huge bonus trips and vacations and tickets to football games and throw lavish parties and NOT include their spouse or significant other? I'm a 24 year old california resident. My father started a credit profile on my social security when i was 13 on a fake name. I caught him when checking my credit report. He paid all the debt off, but what I had left was an extremely good credit score when i was 18. i applied and applied for credit cards when i became 18 to collect airline miles. i collected nearly 800,000 airline miles through that and I did some amazing travelling. i had a good income coming in, but then my business crashed but slightly recovered, however, my girlfriend is a shopaholic, and I kept buying her stuff. i bought five new cars in my life. i'm 24. i just graduated college. i have $168,000 in debt. I have an income of about $7500 per month after taxes which is really good, but most of my money is going to debts, and I have to live at home with parents and have an ok living. I look at my minimum payment warnings, and they say it will take 32 years to pay off. I have three options. Option 1 is to not pay. Being self employed, I have the ability to dodge collectors and court actions especially since I can go to another country. I meet the requirements to get permanent residency at Spain, UK, or Canada. I can make the same amount of money anywhere. I can probably even stay here in California, and get away since I have foreign bank accounts. My other option is to settle my debts, but I don't know what amount card companies will settle for. My other option is to keep paying the debts on time, but it will take 32 years to pay off. I can also do bankruptcy, but given statue of limitations, and the ability to not pay bills, I rather just hide than to declare bankruptcy publically. I'm also worried that my parents will find out about this. How do I explain 168,000 dollar debt? - What if they ask me to do something that requires me to run my credit. All I can do is put a freeze on my credit report so nobody can check. I also can rent an apt right now with the good credit I have and stay in it until my credit recovers. I see no reason for moving in the future. I'm young, and I'm sure I can stay in an apt until my credit recovers which can take up to seven years.Sometimes, I'm worried about my parents finding out, and I want to commit suicide.i have no morals. atheist. i believe in helping others so i can benefit back myself in some way. i don't do it for the goodness of my heart cuz i don't believe in it. more

On the 10th July 2010, I have just returned to Thailand from the UK from my 4 years study at the Manchester Metropolitan University on a BA(Hons)Digital Marketing and Communications course. I have applied for my visa Tier 4 in Thailand to return to study on the MSc Digital Business Management course but got rejected for the reason that I have not provided sufficient fund on the 16th August 2010. In the meanwhile I have purchased the bankers drafts for my accommodation (£9,300) and tuition fees (9,290) already and I was not aware that I needed to provided at least £5,400 as I have just returned from the UK, I had 4,900 savings on my account but now, my mother will support me as well and she has approximately £100,000 in her fix account that she would like to show. Nonetheless, I still have my current visa valid (I have been studying in UK for 4 years -since Aug 2006- and the visa is valid until 31/10/2010) Is it possible for me to return and reapply for my visa (to do my masters) in the UK if I am traveling on the 4th of September 2010?? and providing that I do have all the documents ready now? coz i really need to go back now, applying in Thailand takes ages to complete.. My husband and I have been married for 30+ years and have shared a good life together. He is a salesman and has to travel occasionally. A few months ago, he went on a three day business trip and came back with scratches across his back. When I asked him about them, he stated they were not scratches, they were "marks" and he had no explanation for how they appeared on his back. He told me that I had to trust him and he did not know how he got these "marks." The scratches look like something he would receive from a sexual situation. He has lied to me in the past about smoking. He told me that he swore to God and me, he had quit. I caught him smoking at work and he pleaded with me to understand and eventually he did quit two years later. I was hurt and lost trust in him when he lied to me. Open Question: What to charge to power wash a small deck and a house with peeling paint?

I'm sort of new to the power washing business (as far as what to charge, I have been doing power washing for someone else for years but i never took care of the accounting end of it) I have one customer wanting a 10' x 10' deck washed and sealed. She will provide the sealer, but I will have to wash the deck and apply the sealer myself. She wants the rails and all steps done as well. I am not sure what to charge for this? I am thinking about $75 or $100 and my prices are usually pretty low. Also I have another customer with a 900 sq ft house that has peeling paint. The house is located 25 miles from me, city limit to city limit so there will be traveling involved. It seems that there are alot of amateurs around here charging 100 to 125 to wash a house. I feel it is worth alot more than that, expecially when spraying a house to remove paint which is more labor intensive than just spraying on a cleaner and using pressure to rinse away mold mildew and algae. I was thinking $175 or more. What do you guys think?? Again I am usually on the low side compared to what i hear of others charging in other states and parts of the country. more

Open Question: Why is my grandma an idiot, and how can I keep my sanity?

-She says bad things about everyone in the family, then gets mad at us when we confront her. -She always tells everyone our business and purposely misinterprets it, so other people think ill of us. -Today, we have an electrician over. I know she has trouble shutting her f**king face, so I told her not to talk to the electrician because he charges $75/hour. What does she do? Gets the electrician to charge us another $75 because she wanted to talk to him about stupid crap. -She comes from like the filthiest of all the Asians. I swear to god shes from a tribe in the jungle. She doesn't keep anything sanitary. She leaves raw meat out in the open under the sun and near bugs. Despite me being the same nationality as her, I swear shes from the jungle or something, she eats like a primate. -Shes so consumed by food. Our house smells like fucking old fish because all she does is cook all day. Theres 4 people living in the house, and she cooks a meal to feed 8-12 people. That, mixed with her lack of keeping things clean, her food can actually give everyone but her food poisoning. -She pisses away like $50 a week on lottery tickets, then complains that she has no money. -She denies the fact that she beat my dad when he was a child, when he has so much proof its almost insane. -She complains just to complain. She gets mad that my neighbors use their fire pit in their backyard. She says "Oh, they're so noisy.", when I can barely hear them when I'm outside near them and shes inside. -She tells me that I never do anything for her and that she likes her other grandchildren better than me and my sister. When she fell and cracked her head, I called an ambulance for her. What did the other grandchildren do? Panicked and ran away from the house. -She tells me that when I go to college, my roommates will hate me and I'll flunk out. -Her stories are depressing. My sister just got a new puppy with her boyfriend, and she starts telling us about how dogs die, and about a rabbit she saw get eaten by a dog. If I go into the kitchen to get a can of soda, she tells me that I'll get diabetes and die (From one single can of soda, I might add). When my dad mows the lawn, she preaches to him about how the tree in our yard might fall over and crush him to death. -She tries to act like she had a hard life when all she is a gold-digger who leeched off my dads father until he died. She's traveled the f***ing world. I want to beat the shit out of her, and shes with us for another month. NOBODY IN THE FAMILY WANTS TO DEAL WITH HER. She doesn't have Alzheimer or anything. If she had a mental condition, I'd probably be more sensitive about all of this. more

Open Question: Generator vs Inverter for power all day?

I am starting a business selling drinks from a ice-cream type truck. These trucks are actually empty DHL delivery trucks that I have converted over short of hooking up the machines for power. I have 4 machines each on 3 trucks and 2 machines on a cargo van. Each machine is 10 amps and need 110 volts to power them not 240. I don't know if that's start-up amperage or constant amperage. These machines are Slurpee type machines that you would see in 7/11 store or QT gas stations serving frozen drinks. I am wondering what would be the best solution to power the machines to run basically all day. The trucks are gas powered, not diesel. I am not so worried about the cost of gas to run the trucks all day if using an inverter, just trying to figure out which method would be the most sensible in providing all day power and long term usage. If I do use a generator how should I install/mount it on or in the vehicle? Also, who or where could I get them wired to do such? It seems like no one knows anything about the topic yet there are plenty of ice cream trucks and motor-homes traveling the USA which are using one or both methods, I just can't seem to find anyone who knows how or where to get it done. I asked the question before and am not getting a solid answer either way, so wanted to try again and see if someone can be a little more specific as to which source of power would be better suited. ok so my family moved up to Raleigh NC from Miami Fl because my husbands 2nd cousin and her husband offered him a job at their shop up here..we have been here for 8 months already..things were ok at first until we realized how this place was being run..its a VERY small business but the workers are treated like dogs literally..they are forced to work outside in the hot hot sun or in the pouring rain..i guess because he is to lazy to out up some sort of tent or shelter for the guys to work on the cars under. well my husband was brought up here to help manage the place..along with another guy who has been here for about 5 yrs. all the guys out back love my husband because he treats them with respect and never commands work from them.well heres the thing..since we've been up here we havent seen our family..only our parents that came up for a visit a few months ago..well now in Oct. we were going to take a trip down to FL for 1 week because my mom and mother in law are throwing me a baby shower, we have to drive because at 7 months pregnant my midwife didnt recommend flying. well his uncle or whatever cousins husband is being a total jerk saying he doent know any job that would let him take a week off after only working there for 8 months..the thing is 1 he pays my husband very poorly and 2 my husband doesnt get paid for days he takes off..so i dont see the big deal..he said he could take a weekend..oh yeah plus my husband works 12 hrs a day 6 days a week..its not worth is to spend $350 on gas drive for 12 hrs with a 20 month old baby plus me at 7 months preg for just the weekend...so now hes throwing a fit that this is redicoulous and he might let him take the time off later..but i cant travel at 9 months pregnant if he decided to let us go in november /dec...please guys any suggestions or help..the jobs that you have to wait a yr. are jobs that offer paid vacation time..my husband doesnt get paid vacation time or anything..no benefits..nothing really..and its not even for the shower that we want to go its to see our family..i mean these ppl are our family..i just dont understand..i know he is lucky to have a job..but at this point we would have been better off with the job he had in FL...he came up here to help this man..and now he is screwing us over..plus he is not the nicest of people he is incredibly rude and inconsiderate of others..even his own family..oh and there is no work contract or anything...so all that stuff about being on probation for a yr or whatever..yeah that wouldnt work unless my husband was on a contract more

Being "sucked" into politics now-a-days is a scam and it's sad to see how many people get their hopes for something that will honestly...probably never happen. The economy will never improve for a few reasons. 1) We depend on other countries for resources, which was a huge mistake from the start. 2) The economy going to (for lack of a better term) "crap" is caused from the 'snowball affect.' But these things all revolve around one cause. GAS. The gas prices rising is the cause of the snowball affect. Let's break it into story mode. Let's say Joe, your average American Dad was working for the Big Three. Joe was let go from his job because people just stopped buying cars and showing interest for new ones. Joe is now supporting his family on unemployment. Why are people not interested in buying new cars? Well, all of their money is going toward gas. The average tank takes 30-70 dollars to fill. Joe has no job now with two children, dogs, and a wife to support do you think he can afford these gas prices? Since people aren't buying new cars, there's no need for more cars to be made. So a lot of people in the car plants were let go also. Since we all depend on our unemployment to hold us steady, we really don't have time or money for vacation, going out to dinner, ETC. So why doesn't Joe get a job somewhere else? Problem... Joe didn't attend college back in his early days because the car dealerships offered him alot of money with no or little education. Blame our economy on education, go ahead...but the real reason is gas prices. So Joe looks for another job which requires no or little education since he cannot afford college anytime soon. Problem, average jobs are not hiring. Why? Because so many people were affected by these gas prices that business are lacking service and losing money. So they too let people go. Gas has now went from affecting the money in our pockets, to car business', food industries, travel agencies, ETC ect. (snowball effect) seems like this wouldn't be to bad of an affect but, it is. Money builds over time and in the long run business' lost more money then put into their work. Now companies can't pay their employee's so their also losing their jobs and now no one is hiring. Going to college is the one thing that put you that one step closer to being hired at the job you want compared the other other guy who does not have a college education. But, whose hiring besides medicine really? We look at gas as "people are going to need it regardless, so we'll keep the other countries happy and our company going by keeping the prices raised" but in reality...we need to reverse this snowball affect and lower the gas prices so EVERY industry rises again. It's really sad to see children not eating lunch or just sitting at home doing nothing bored out of their minds because "they need to save every penny for gas" or, 'saving their money because their are no jobs for teenagers because adults who should have a career and or college degree take the only jobs they can which are for the younger generation still gaining their education' We need to lower the gas prices so ALL industries rise again and get more business then every before. Alright so I just turned 20, I'm getting married to a wonderful man next year. I love my family, and my life is pretty good, and I love going to church. One thing has got me stressing though...what should I do as a career?? I will have my associates degree at the end of winter semester this year in Business Administration, not my original plan. I was going to go for graphic design, then I couldn't afford to go to a university so I went to a community college for visual communications, but found I wasn't happy so I switched to business administration, pretty general, pretty safe. Resolved Question: Women: Have you ever been in a situation where people respected a man over you because he's a man?

For example: Your on a business trip with a guy. You're both the same level career/job wise. You travel together to a different state to meet with people from another branch of your company to do business. When you both get there, you have to spend a week working with these people. You and this guy are equally social and greet everyone, chat them up, talk business, etc. However, every single person you both meet, these people gravitate to your male co-worker. They mostly talk to him, even when you initiate conversation. You have the same if not more knowledge than him, yet everyone only talks to him. When you all go out for drinks to talk more business and hang out, people give him all of there attention despite your efforts to socialize. So, it would appear that people are respecting him over you because of his sex. Because he is a man. You have no other explanation for this phenomenon. Voting Question: Today's Parents Worst Since The Start Of Time?

Today's parents are not parents as they are defense attorneys. We all hear daily that their kids "never" do anything wrong. B.S.! Parents today do not teach accountability, being responsible and if their offsprings ever get into a situation that the kid does not like....parents will sue and raise hell until they get the results the want even if they do not come close to deserving it. God bless today's teachers as parents are their biggest enemy! We see it everywhere. Taken a flight lately? Parents bring their young children on a plane and let them scream, holler, and annoy all others that had plans of a nice quite flight. Do the parents of the unruly kids pay more for their airfare? What gives parents the right to let their children disturb all others and make people miserable? When did in become socially exceptable for parents to let their children run wild and be obnoxious in a restaurant, hotel, movie theatre, grocery store, etc.? USA Today just did a poll this week about air travel. Well over 90% said they hate having to fly with parents with children as they are subjected to a horrible experience of crying, screaming ruining the business travelver's flight. People that responded to the poll went on to say there should be a special section for parents with young children. Absoultely love this idea and I had better not hear a wimper of descrimination. You no grounds to state that. While growing up in an era where there were crying rooms in movie theatres. Glass in rooms are where parents would take their kids when they were crying. Today we could have the same room but parents would not think of taking their kids in there. Why? Because they just don't give a damn. Parents today feel their kids can be as rude, loud with no manners and everyone else should just have to deal with it. AGAIN B.S. I was recently in a chain resturant and parents had 3 kids causing a loud scene and i saw other patrons asking to be moved away to enjoy their meal. As all should feel I approached the parents and asked if they paid more for their meal to allow them the right to make everyone eles dining experience a nightmare? The father stood up and wanted to fight. Yep, he wanted to fight and told me he was going to kick my ass....because he sucked as a parent, there is no dicipline in their household. Results were I encouraged him to hit me. And I went on to say that when you do I will own everything you have, you will be in jail and your children won't have a father. All this because you think everyone should turn a deaf ear to your to your undisciplined children and all others should just get comfortable of NEVER having a quite meal, flight, movie or grocery shopping experience. One would hope parents would realize that their children's behavior is a direct reflection of their parenting or lack of. People, neighbors, friends, co-workers do judge the parents by the actions of their kids. WIth that they determine the parents character, class and if this is someone they would socialize with. Remember when your father could just give you the look while out to eat and you knew you have to behave? That was when going out to eat was a priviledge not a right. What happen to the values we used to have? In closing my wife and I both own businesses. We have seen over the last 5 years that when we have hired a 20 something year old employee that they lack the core qualities that takes to make a good employee. Not accountable for their actions, lack of respect for others, "all about me attitude", the feeling of entitledment without work ethic to achieve higher goals and always quick to call their parents to complain. Guess what? This is the real world and Momma and Daddy have no way to bail you out of not doing your job. Bottom line is we have not and will not entertain the thought of hiring anyone that just got out of school. We are running businesses not day care. more
