Open Question: Help with subjects for A Levels please?
Right so in September for my A levels I was going to do: Photography, Media, Hospitality and Travel and Tourism (Hospitality and travel and tourism are basically together as events and leisure managment but you can seperate them). Anyway, I recently got offered to do History which I haven't done since year 9 because it wouldn't fit in my timetable, I loved history so much and I really want to do it next year but I can't have 4 subjects so I need to get rid of one if I chose to do History. I've been trying to think of what 4 I should chose by thinking of what career I would like to do but i'm struggling with that too. Two careers that really interest me is wedding/party/event planning and the other would be taking pictures and writing articles of different places to get people to go there or just being a photographer in general. So you see why I'm confused? Right okays, well basically my question to you is for you help and ideas on what subject do you think i should get rid of and then with the 4 subjects you think i should do, what subject could I study in university and which career could I do? I'm not asking you to plan my life for me I just want a few ideas to help me decide. Okay so these are the subjects again: Travel and tourism, history, photography, media and hospitality. I need to get rid of one of those. Thanks for your help! moreOpen Question: Where to go for wildlife photography in Alaska?

How practical is photojournalism?
I want to travel for my career, and I'm 16 now. I've always dreamed of becoming an archeologist, but as I got older I realized it wasn't practical enough. So here are some jobs that I'm considering... Photojournalist Flight attendant How practical are these jobs? What's being a photojournalist like? Do you travel a lot? How's the pay? Also, how often do you travel as a flight attendant? I'm unsure that you actually can see where you go rather stay on a plane the entire time. So how often do you actually TRAVEL and experience different cultures and stuff? Another thing is what are the requirements to become either of these? Oh, and this is totally random, but what does a anthropologist do? I'm really interested in history and stuff, that's why I liked the idea of being an archeologist, but what exactly is an anthropologist? Thanks :)) moreOpen Question: What should I get for my best friend's 15th birthday, which is in May? She's psyched about it!!!?
She likes: -photography -kids -animals -dance (indian) -history -reading -writing She is: -kind -funny -caring -smart -a tad bit lazy She doesn't really like makeup, clothes or anything like that. She has a kindle, a PS3, an iPod touch, and TONS of gift cards. She is currently writing a novel and hopes to travel one day. She also likes biking. She wants a pet, but her parents won't allow it. Help? My budget is 100$ moreOpen Question: Name for photography business?

Here is a little bit about me... I'm a girl, i like feathers, photography, music, tattoos, Juliette Lewis, the beach and traveling :3 Looking for something unique and different... i am open to any options :D Thank you! moreOpen Question: Should I become a travel writer or fashion buyer/merchandiser?
I'm going to university next year and I haven't decided what I want to do yet. In the fashion industry, I'm interested in fashion buying and merchandising. But I also love writing and my main goal in life is to one day become an author. I don't want want to go to university for creative writing or anything mainly because I hate being told what to write and how to write it. So I opted to not go down that path. I also love travelling and I really would love to travel the world. So I think I'd also really enjoy become a travel writer and photographer since photography is just a hobby. But that's a plus, right? Taking photographs of your travel destinations? Do you think I should go down the fashion buying/merchandising path or become a travel writer? Do you need a degree to become a travel writer or could I go into fashion and then just become a travel writer? I also know that many fashion buyers do quite a bit of travelling, too, so could I cross over into strictly travel writing if I did go into fashion? moreResolved Question: Which is better for photography, Navy or Air Force?
I want to join either to be a photographer (i.e. Photography Specialist in the Air Force or Mass Communication Specialist in the Navy). Right know I am finishing a bachelors in photography and I would love to use my hard earned abilities to better serve my country and to get some experience in return. I love photography and I know I will excel in either brach. I will be joining as a reservist I have done quite some research already but I need your opinions: Which one do you think is better in terms of opportunities to: a) very important TRAVEL, go to cool places for assignments b) better opportunities for more varied assignments c) better treatment and advancement opportunities (advancement in rank), I would love to become and instructor in either which one has more opportunities for this (my dream is to be a photography teacher at an university or in the military and this is very important to me) d) get called the most to active duty for assignments or have more opportunities to offer my self as a voluntary for IA assignments (I don't mind in fact i look forward to that, but before you ask why I'm not joining active... I can no longer join active for the Air Force because I'm 28 and limit is 27 and I could still join active for the Navy but I want to keep pursuing a higher education i.e. a Masters degree and I know that going full time active will put a stop to this for too long...but I'm still considering for the better benefits in terms of money for college for my masters...). This is all I can think about right know...I will add more questions if needed. Thanks everybody! moreResolved Question: I don't know what I want to study for as a career?
I am a high schooler, I love photography, I love travel, I love different languages, I currently know 4 languages: -Spanish -English -Portugues -Korean I am fluent in the first two. I am not so tall, but love being spontaneous. I'm close to going to college but I'm not straight in what I want to be. If you have any questions, ask. moreVoting Question: I do I get Paid to travel around the USA to take Landscape Photography?
I Have been doing Photography for a While but would like to start to travel to do Landscape photography moreResolved Question: i'm seventeen and don't live at home struggling for money, is there anything i can claim?
i live with my boyfriends parents and pay his Mum board and i also have to pay through all my college course (i'm on a photography course so its quite expensive). I always have to pay for my travel and more. Is there any money i can claim? i work 12 hours at weekend, but i'm at college through the week. moreVoting Question: ***I need to really follow my dreams. Please help!!!?
I'm going to make this short! For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be the type of person who is know(famous), for achieving something. I'm 18 now and I hate working 9-5. I don't see myself doing it in the future and I want my life to consist of doing something different and traveling, having an influence on people all around the world. I want to start with youtube and though I love beauty and fashion, I don't think I'm good enough to give tips on those topics and plus there's thousands of girls doing the same thing trying to make it. I'm also really interested in health, photography, film-making, web-designing, and helping people. So what can I do to become a well-known person on youtube? I really need some ideas of how and what I can do. whatever helps. Please don't be rude. Thanks!! moreOpen Question: Acer Aspire S3, Asus Zenbook, or Macbook Air?
Acer Aspire S3 (i5 or i7 variant), Asus Zenbook UX31 (i5 variant), or Macbook Air (the cheapest 13" variant)? I'll be using this as a travel laptop and will be doing most of my actual work on a desktop. I'll be using adobe lightroom 3 most of the time, but also will occasionally use Photoshop CS5.1 and Sony Vegas 10. Sooner or later, I'll probably need to use programs that deal with making 2d or 3d graphics and animation, sound design, graphic design, photography, etc. for school and stuff, but the bulk of my work will most probably be done on a desktop. i'll be getting a laptop for times when I need to be productive but can't leave school, and when on a trip to somewhere far from home and I need a very portable laptop that may not be the fastest, but pretty fast and can handle at least a few hours on lightroom without running out of ram and stuff every half hour or so. hahaha.@B K: I am aware that 13 inches is quite small, but I did mention that i'll be doing most ofmy work at home on a desktop with an ample screen, etc., but I need a laptop that's very portable that can handle work for when i'm stuck at school or out of town. moreResolved Question: I'd like to move to California, a little advice?
Before you insult me or shoot down my idea I'll tell you my situation and plan: I live in New Zealand, I'm 18 and I'm studying photography at the moment. My boyfriend and I live together and we know how to 'scrape by' because we're students. I also DO NOT expect California to be anything like 90210, the OC or any other bullshit TV shows set in Cali that focus on the rich. I'd like to move to Melbourne for about 5-6 years in 2013 and then after I've saved up enough cash (I'm not going with less than enough to buy a car and cover rent for about 3 months). I plan to (through contacts) get a job lined up before moving to Cali so that I don't have any financial issues after moving. I have lived in Indonesia, Thailand and New Zealand (grew up in all 3, moving between them) so I am quite well-traveled for my age therefore I'm prepared for any type of culture shock! I know work is difficult to find at the moment in Cali but I'm talking about moving in about 7 years, not that anyone can forsee the future, but basically, my question is - Where in California would be good for a young couple, it needs to be safe! (I was thinking Burbank) And in 7 years what will California's employment rate be like? Also I've been seeing mostly negative things about Cali. I'm asking if I do this properly, plan it out, and have enough cash please let me know of the fun, happier and more positive things about LA! moreVoting Question: I'm struggling with college/career choices?
I'm a sophomore in high school, but I am graduating next spring. I play to attend a junior college, but I'm unsure past that point. My main options: • Physical therapist. • Marine biologist/Oceanographer. • Archaeologist. • Speech-Language Pathologist. • Photographer. I want a career that makes decent money. I want to have time to see my family. I don't want to go to school forever. My family is pushing me into physical therapy. It seems like a good choice. It's growing. But, I just can't see myself really happy doing it. I like the idea of marine biology. I love animals and it's a dream of mine to travel and work in the outdoors. But I'm not sure I would enjoy the science of it all. Archaeology sounds fun. But iimt doesn't make much money at all. I'm a big history buff but I dread history essays. Speech-language pathology is something I found on a website that sounded good for my desired lifestyle. However, I wouldn't ever consider it as a "dream job." Photography is what I think I like. A dream of mine would be to travel the world and take pictures. My family says going to art institutes is kind of a waste of intelligence. I'm not sure I'd make much money. What do I choose? Help! I'm open to career suggestions. moreResolved Question: Sketchbook/portfolio work?
I'm about to start my GCSE's next year. I'm taking art because I really enjoy it, this year I completed a sketch book completely on the topic of Japan. I really enjoyed building up on a topic and making a portfolio kind of thing. But I've just started a new sketch book and I'm not sure where to go with it. I'm really into fashion, bright colours, 60's and 50's style stuff, photography, and travel (allot I know) does anyone have any idea's of how I can wrap all these things into one short topic title?and any idea's on how to present portfolio stuff would be great thanks :) moreResolved Question: Does anyone have any tips for hiking or taking a trip alone?
I am single and I am interested in getting into photography, traveling more to new places to explore new cultures and places, as well as getting into hiking/backpacking eventually. Anyways, I am planning on going on these adventures by myself along with my dog, but I need some tips for these types of adventures when I do go alone. Would you recommend hiking alone and if so what tips do you recommend? I have also considered joining a singles travel agency that would allow me to travel, but go as a group with other people from around the US. Does anyone have any useful tips for me? Please help me out :) moreResolved Question: What are the best photography schools in California?
I am currently a high school senior. My dream job is to become a travel photographer. What is the best photography college in california for this? I would also love to study abroad. Any advice or tips? Thank you!(: moreResolved Question: Are there any affordable photography workshops?
I was researching photography workshops or programs for the summer, and they were all CRAZY expensive. Well, maybe not crazy...but to ME they were really expensive. I'm in highschool, and I live in Michigan. Could anyone help me find a cheap but good photography workshop? I'm not really into studio or portrait photography. I was kind of hoping for tiny travel or something. The workshop doesnt have to be in Michigan, it could be in surrounded states. But yea. haha this might sound unreasonable, but is there a chance there would be anything around $100-$200? I dont know, I've been searching online for photography opportnities and I'm having a difficult time. It can be only on day or something.^^I dont know where that last sentence came from I dont remember writing it hahah moreResolved Question: Where are the best photography opportunities? In the army, navy, marines, or airforce?
Best opportunities to take meaningful and diverse pictures, for travel, w/ a great program, great technology, and chances to go out and actually do something? moreResolved Question: Which Computer Should I Buy?
I've narrowed down to 2 computers: One PC, One Mac; One Heavy Laptop, One Sleek Desktop. To help answer, I've included a brief summary of me. Don't do much gaming (maybe a decent amount of time of Minecraft, Sims 3, and Civ 5, not much, though.) Don't do a lot of video shooting and editing, but interested in art and photography. Lots of Youtube, Facebook and Facebook Games, and web browsing. Lots of Microsoft Office Word use for school. Lots of iTunes use (if it matters). Use iPhoto a lot. Also interested in music, so GarageBand, or just iLife in general (if Mac). Visit Aunt across state a lot, and have lots of homework when I do it! (Once a month) Not getting computer until June 10: my birthday. Budget of $1,500 plus its accessories, like MS Office, Wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse (Mac) Elegance is everything, combined with all of my wants. Like to sit on the couch or bed watching TV while typing a word document. Power + Elegance = Perfection, for me at least. Don't travel much, and not legally allowed to get a job, so no having to go anywhere with a laptop or Macbook, plus, I can get an iPad or other tablet for school notes and what not, instead of a Macbook/Laptop. The computers I picked: http://www.amazon.com/HP-dv6-6c50us-15-6-Inch-Screen-Laptop/dp/tech-data/B006OEL898/ref=de_a_smtd or http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC309LL-21-5-Inch-Desktop-VERSION/dp/B004YKXGIK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334379885&sr=8-1 . So, since I have experience with both, I am willing to get a PC if it is worth it. And yes, I know that iMacs will be updated soon, so I'll just get the newest base model at the time (June 10). Thanks! moreResolved Question: PC or Mac? Which Should I get?
I am not asking for a controversy, just which one sounds right for me? And which of that type is right for me? About me: Don't do much gaming (maybe a decent amount of time of Minecraft, Sims 3, and Civ 5, not much, though.) Don't do a lot of video shooting and editing, but interested in art and photography. Don't travel much, and not legally allowed to get a job, so no having to go anywhere with a laptop or Macbook, plus, I can get an iPad or other tablet for school notes and what not, instead of a Macbook/Laptop. So what do you think? Should I get a Mac or PC? Please leave the Pros and Cons of both, and come to a conclusion of PC or Mac, which brand, which type (Desktop or Laptop/Macbook), and which specific model. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Should I Get A Macbook Pro or an iMac?
I've been looking and goign back and forth between a Macbook Pro 13" base model, or the 21.5" iMac, also base model. Me: Don't do much gaming (maybe a decent amount of time of Minecraft, Sims 3, and Civ 5, not much, though.) Don't do a lot of video shooting and editing, but interested in art and photography. I'm traveling a lot and generally enjoy taking photos. I am not interested in taking any photography classes really, and for that reason would like to have an intuitive camera that's easy to operate. Ideally it wouldn't be toooo expensive but if it makes sense to spend those extra $200 to get super camera then i'd be willing to spend that. thanks:) moreResolved Question: Can you guess my zodiac sign?
1. I love to talk, about anything, except I don't like really serious conversations. I'll make jokes to lighten the mood. 2. I love to travel. I wanna see the world. Im going to Canada and Italy this year, and I'm sooooooooo excited. honestly, I work hard at my jobs so that I can have money to travel. 3. I know some people don't think appearance has anything to do with signs but I'll add that I look much younger than I am. 4. I'm shy and innocent when people first meet me, at least what I'm told. I'm a very genuine and sincere person. Even though I can say things that shock people, may hurt them, but I don't mean too. 5. I love to flirt. And I have a lot of crushes that are short lived. 6. I get bored easily and can become depressed if I'm stuck in a rut. 7. I love to work out but if I don't keep it up I become super lazy. It's like two extremes. I fluctuate in weight by going up and down 10-15 pounds. 8. Things I hate: people who have have no drive/ambition, the news-it's all depressing, animal abuse, close minded people... To name a few. 9. I make friends easily, get along with most people. Unfortunately I can't please everyone. Wish I could. :/ 10. I love tv shows. Photography. Nature. 11. when I get bored I eat, watch Netflix, get on here, get on Facebook, clean (if I'm in the mood, and it's a rare occasion) lol Alright I think that's good enough. Can you guess my sun sign? I think it's easy lol Also rising or moon? :) ok go crazy. moreResolved Question: What part of Europe should i move to? Depending on all my personal factors...?
OK SO, I'm a female, 18 and live in NY. I'm currently broke, jobless, and confused with life. The only thing that excites me is traveling, partying, and photography. Haha. I went to mexico and loved it, i realized i love embracing new cultures and getting to know new people. But my real question is what part of Europe should i move to? It'd have to be inexpensive, yet interesting, preferably a city type environment, with friendly people and things to do. I only would want to live there for a year or so until moving on ( unless something unexpected changed my mind ) I'm looking to move there by next year- around spring time. I'd be going by myself. I don't even have an exact reason for going, other than i need change, and europe has always interested me. I'd probably move there, it's inspire my photography, hopefully get a part time job, and maybe meet a guy with a sexy accent? Haha I can't live in the states anymore, the people are miserable, selfish, and close minded. Not to mention UK skins made me fall in love with the accents. Is there anything i should know, or be aware of? And back to the main question, where's the most inexpensive, lively, city type place with fun party loving people? Thanks!! moreResolved Question: Can't Decide. Help :)))?

I guess the whole idea just bores me to death? i am a creative person. well everyone says that. I'm looking to become a professional photography in the near furture, but I don't even know where to start. I want a really good camera for staters. I was thinking either Canon or Nikon, but I didn't know if there was possibly a better brand out there that may just be less popular? I'm deciding between the two, will almost surely go reserves (well, I'm 100 percent about that for the Air Force since I'm 28 and can no longer enlist active duty, but I can still go active in the Navy). Also Im a girl if that helps in any (i know its not important in the way they will treat me...I know i will be treated the same if I'm a woman, just want to get insight on any girls that have been in any of the two branches as any of those two jobs (rates), and any boys that have been in any of those jobs too). I would like to know in your opinion, which one is better in terms of assignments. Right now I'm a little biased towards Navy seeing that in the Navy (I believe), I will be able to do many more things (write, take videos etc.) whereas in the Air Force I will be truly an specialist in photography only (at least that's that I have read everywhere), don't get me wrong, I love photography (in fact right now, I'm finishing a bachelors in Fine Arts in Photography...thats what I want to do in the Navy...I just would not mind also doing video or journalism, broadcasting etc since that would expand my knowledge, but I REALLY hope I can get a slot as a photographer since it is my main strength and passion. I'm also basing my opinion on what i see in each respective branches photo streams in Flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/usnavy/sets/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/usairforce/sets/ and in and in the the defense imagery webpage: http://www.defenseimagery.mil/index.html Which one do you think is best? I kind of have a feeling that the Navy has more varied assignments (they are on water, and on land and they seem to travel a little bit more? What do you think, which is the best for a photography/media career? Thanks so much, I value your opinions! moreResolved Question: boyfriend/college/road trip dilemma, help?
Hi I just turned 22 years old and am about to graduate college with a bachelors in business entrepreneurial studies in Phoenix, AZ. My boyfriend Kyle and I have been planning an after graduation trip for me. We will be traveling places up the coast that I have never been to before and attending musical festivals. We already bought tickets for the concerts. We're both really excited about it. I have been dating Kyle for 8 months. He's about to turn 20 and is a freshmen in College studying Art in Flagstaff, AZ(two hours north of Phoenix). All school year we have been taking turns driving two hours to see each other for the weekends. Kyle wants me to move up there with him once I graduate. There is a photography program at his school that he suggested I should attend. I toured it and realized I want to attend much more serious photography program. I looked more into it and remember Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. It's everything I could ever want in a Photography school. I applied without telling anyone and got in. I really don't want to go to his school for Photography once I looked more into Brooks Institute. We are normally very open about whats going on in our lives, but I'm not sure whats the best time to discuss me moving to Santa Barbara this September to go to school there. He has a friend who goes to his school and he has a girlfriend who lives in San Francisco. Kyle looks at their relationship and says that's it's much too far a distance between them. They didn't last long together. I like being with Kyle, but I think going to Brooks and my future is very important. A career in photography is not easy to live on, but I have a lot of drive and passion. I want to do it. Kyle of course doesn't want to be without me. I feel like if I tell him about school before the trip then he'll be devastated the whole trip and may not even go even though we already have tickets. If I tell him during the trip we could end up fighting in unfamiliar places and thats not good. I could tell him after the trip, but we have another music festival to go to mid July. It's actually in the same city I'm going to move to. We just bought tickets for that concert yesterday. There is not much tying Kyle down to his current school. He doesn't have any friends there besides his band mates. He's the singer in the band and they are about to have their first show. He's very passionate about the band. I asked him if he would ever consider going to school in California and he said its too far from his family and too expensive. If he changes his mind about california and does want to be closer to me than I should probably tell him about my plans sooner so he can look at schools. Late July is a little too late to find a school. Should I just be upfront about it now? He is going to be devastated and constantly thinking about it. He has my tickets so what if he gives it to someone else. I basically don't want our trip plans to be ruined, but want him to go to school in California too. moreVoting Question: What should be my major in college?
I'm almost through my second year of college and I still don't know what I want to do!! I know that I want to be able to be creative, so I thought about Graphic Design but unfortunately I can't draw, I just love to take pictures. I would take up photography but that doesn't make enough money, I decided that I would do freelance photography on the side as well as music performance because those are my two passions. If at all possible, I'd like to do something that involves writing as well as taking photographs... being a magazine editor for a fashion magazine would be a dream job of mine because it also involves traveling. :) But if I wanted to do that, what would be my major of study?? Thanks for the help... I know that was a lot of information. But would it be bad to take up journalism? I've heard that print media is going down... or is that not true? I just want a secure job ya know? Can you get a well paying job with a photojournalism degree? moreVoting Question: ENGLISH GRAMMAR CHECK HELP?
please check the grammar, tenses and what so ever.. you can change the words a bit if you want to make it better.. It's not a poem btw, its for my website.. about photography life.. Behind a photograph is a moving memory. Inside a photograph is a captured memory. Everyone of us is different. Each of us has a unique diffrent personality. Whenever I travel, I meet diffrent types of people from many diffrent places. Each of them are completely different, making the photographs it self have a diffrent taste, emotion and atmosphere. moreVoting Question: Starting a freelance web design business?
I'm going to be traveling for a 2-3 years, only living in one location for a maximum of 6 months. I'm changing my career route and want to teach myself the ins and outs of freelance web design. Now I currently run several websites, and have built about 4 or 5. I know my way around Wordpress UI, and Basics of Drupal 6/7. Fluent in HTML, decent CSS, For a short time I was a professional photo editor/retoucher so I have Photoshop CS3, 3 ext, 4, 5 so I know my way around Photoshop/CameraRAW/bridge I plan on putting out extra money to replace my current desktop with a laptop and figure I will get a Mac Pro so that I can use it for business as well. My main question is, What programs/pieces of technology could you web designers NOT live without? What do you use on a weekly/monthly basis? Tablets? Photoshop? Illustrator? I want the ability to do simple logos if clients want, I have professional photography equipment so photoshop will be mainly used for editing pictures on website, blogs, etc... What do I need to be able to tackle most anything thrown at me? And then the last question, I'm going to teach myself, any reccomended books/websites/methods to learn? Thank you guys/girls so much! Have a nice day moreResolved Question: Any ideas on how to decorate my bedroom? (Repost)?
Okay, so I asked this question about 20 minutes or so ago but I don't think I explained myself fully enough. I'm a fourteen year old girl from South-west England. I have some basic ideas on how I could design it but I need a bit of inspiration and some ideas on what to add! I love traveling, music, photography, elegant designs, languages, hanging out with my friends, etc! Hope that helped a bit more! Thanks! (I'd also like some fairy lights or something to make it really pretty).I also do theatre and like vintage as well as elegant designs! moreVoting Question: Why didn't they tell it how it is during black history month?
Throughout the 6,000 years of recorded human history, the black African has invented nothing. Not a written language, weaved cloth, a calendar, a plow, a road, a bridge, a railway, a ship, a system of measurement, or even the wheel. (Note: This is in reference to the pure-blooded African. Those who have not been influenced by other cultures.) African blacks are not known to have ever cultivated a single crop or domesticated a single animal for there own use (although many powerful and docile beasts abounded around him.) There only known means of transporting goods was on the top of his head. For shelter Africans never progressed beyond the common mud hut, the construction of which a beaver or muskrat is capable The Caucasian race has crossed seas, harnessed rivers, carved mountains, tamed deserts, and colonized the most barren ice-fields. It has been responsible for the invention of the printing press, cement, the harnessing of electricity, flight, rocketry, astronomy, the telescope, space travel, firearms, the transistor, radio, television, the telephone, the light-bulb, photography, motion pictures, the phonograph, the electric battery, the automobile, the steam engine, railroad transportation, the microscope, computers, and millions of other technological miracles. It has discovered countless medical advances, incredible applications, scientific progress, etc. Today Africa represents about 32% of the world population. Yet only 3% of world trade. moreResolved Question: Sony NEX 5N opinions and what-nots?
There are already a lot of reviews with regards to this, but I would like to ask all the average users out there on what is their opinion (real world situation) on this Camera. I am an enthusiast and I own an SLR, used mostly on every type of photography (travel, events, landscape, nature, etc.) And I am thinking if this can be a lightweight replacement / back-up camera for me. Thanks moreResolved Question: What's the best starter lens for Nikon D5100?
I'm a beginner when it comes to photography so I chose to have an entry-level camera like Nikon D5100. I've made some research on the different lenses that is better than the usual 18-55mm starter kit lens offered by most sellers. I'm torn between the AFS 50mm F1.8G and AFS 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR DX. (I use to have the AF-S 35mm f1.8G DX in my list but due to the "zoom" issue, I thought it might not be the choice as a starter lens.) Btw, I'm planning to use my first dslr cam for all-around purposes. I travel a lot and I might also use it for portraits. If you have other suggestions, feel free to post. Thanks. moreResolved Question: What should I choose for my Air Force AFSC?
I'm a 22 year old female with 40 college credits and a backround in healthcare. I have worked as a cna and know considerably a lot about the medical field but am unsure of if I want that as my career anymore. I have a strong interest in photography and have thought about wanting to travel in the military but am unsure which categories would transfer back into civilian life well. I used to be very driven and have lately fallen into monotony and I need something to help drive me again and I think the USAF will do just that.Forgot to state I already talked with a recruiter and took my practice ASVAB and got a projected score of 90. I don't want to go to MEPS without my positions I want chosen. moreResolved Question: Deciding between Airforce reserve (or Air National Guard) or Navy reserve, which one travels more?...?
I have been doing lots of research for months...I'm thinking of joining the reserves because active would put my future master's degree on hold (currently finishing my bachelor's degree). My bachelor's will be in Fine Arts in Photography so i don't think I will be any good as an officer (unless it is as a public affairs officer but I would like to be the one taking the pictures etc., not telling people to do it...at least that is what I think right now, that may change). I also know there isn't much need for PA's in either or the branches so I will probably join as enlisted. Also, I know I will enter any of the two branches as E-3 when I finish my bachelors degree. I was thinking of joining the Navy to be a Mass communications specialist and the Air Force to be a Photography specialist...I could accept other jobs (mainly thinking of anything health related, really interested in something that has to do with radiography), but these are my first options for each of the two branches. I know they are hard to get into (from everything I have read here on yahoo answers), but I know I will excel in these positions and I will strive to get them. Also, yes, I would love the GI Bill to help me pay my master's. I know Navy offers some extra training (apprenticeship) for those in active duty (if I do get the chance to be active sometime, I will be sure to take advantage of this) in the Mass communications specialty (https://usmap.cnet.navy.mil/usmapss/static/usmap.jsp), specially interested in this one (https://usmap.cnet.navy.mil/usmapss/static/wps/wps.jsp?aimsParm=0062N)...does anyone know if the Air force offers these apprenticeship too? please provide links if you do. I'm aware the Air Force is more specialized whereas I could do many things in the MC rating in the Navy (and it scares me that I may not even touch a camera if I do get that job, I could do video but my specialty is photography...i know I could also write which I don't mind, in fact I'm very good at that, but I'd prefer to be in the middle of the action taking pictures, not sitting on a desk all day). Now, I would like to know from anybody that has had any experience in any of these two reserve branches, where would one travel in each of them in those two weeks a year one has to serve...which of the two branches has more opportunities to travel to exotic places like (japan, italy, spain...) and which one stays more stateside. I have heard (and read in the Navy's website) that the Navy is the best for travel, is this true even when you are a reservist? I know that was a lot of questions at once, thanks for your time to anyone who can answer! moreResolved Question: which beginner camera should i get?
hi i started to get into photography about 2 years ago and i been using my friends camera and i feel like it is something i would really enjoy. i want to invest in a dslr camera my friend is currently using the t2i with a lot of things attach. i was wondering what camera should i get? i like the t3i because of the screen but idk if thats a good enough reason to get it. i currently have some money saved up enough to buy the t3i but i was looking into the 5d mark iii and i was wondering if i should keep working and saving up for that instead of wasting my money on the t3i. i tend to take pictures of me and my friends and also landscape when i travel. thanks ahead of time moreResolved Question: How can I make a career out of photography?

I have an assignment due tomorrow for my photography class and we have to take pictures/ find pictures we have previously taken that would be considered stock photography... What are some examples that I could take by tomorrow without a car? I have pictures of different places I have traveled, I can take pictures of food, technology, art stuff, and other simple things like that. If it helps, I am a college student living on campus without a car or transportation off campus... Thank you for your help! moreResolved Question: Could someone correct my english plz?
could anyone tell me if there is any mistakes ... ? Thank you very much ! What if the Victorians had access to our technology ? Yesterday was the moment to discover the artists’ answers at the launch of the Steampunk exhibition in the museum of history and science in Oxford. The exposition gathers a collection of three-dimension objects celebrating imaginary art in science of Victorian area turned in physical form. It is allegee area since it involves literature, sciencefacts, sculpture, photography, and especially films. The idea to feature Steampunk artists came to Dr Jim Bennett, the director of the museum, as he received a letter of Art Donovan from New-York to submit the idea. “We quite liked the idea that an aspect of our collection was informing this current movement” said the director of the museum of history of science. Art Donovan, the curator of the Steampunk exhibition, knows a lot about the movement since he is himself involved in the creation of objects such as the Siddharta pod lantern made of solid mahogany, solid brass and illuminations. His main inspirations are Jules Verne and H.G Wells. His own answer to the “what if” question is that “the Victorians’ creations would not be in generic plastic as nowadays but rather made of beautiful wood with mechanical elements exposed”. In order to organize the exhibition, Dr Jim Bennett said they decided to separate the artists in two categories “First the practical ones with object working as they should originally do and the fantasy ones with sculpture devices based on scientific ones from 1970”. Among the people present we met Thomas Willeford, the creator of a device allowing you to jump from an airship to another by charging up the machine with steam which creates a burst of energy in the two wings. He is also the inventor of the temporal isolation devices. He explained that “if you travel in time you kill your own parents, nothing happens to you until you get back and then you are like : oh my god my parents are dead !”. Hopefully the device is not working or the inventor would have time to kill… Thomas Willeford was not the only specialist in handcrafted timepieces. Art Donovan added that “horology and horological design play an important part in the exhibition”. Vianey Halter’s work was also featured as Haruo Suekichi’s creations since he is highly regarded around the world as a watch designer and as a very big legend among steampunk enthusiasts. The exhibition also displays James Richardson Brown’s inventions. The creator also writes about steampunk and “most of my inventions are created by character in my books, using metal, clay and found objects”. Among these objects figured a pair of solar obscure glass and a working mobile telephone in the shape of a candle stick phone. The exhibition will last until February 21, 2010. You can find more information on the website of the museum (www.mhs.org.ac.uk/steampunk) and discover all these incredible inventions and their eccentric creators. moreResolved Question: WHY IS LIFE SO BORING?? am i the only one who thinks this?
gahhh I just feel like life is so repetitive. With school it's the same schedule every single day and there's nothing fun and it just feels like a repetition of what happened the day before; with very few differences. i really really want to travel the world but i am only 15 (almost 16) and plus my family doesnt have the money to pay for travelling. is school even necessary to become successful in life? i find my only happiness to be when i'm playing violin and thats pretty much what i do with my life. i also like anything artistic such as photography. so why is all that extra math and history crap added in? i just want an adventure and something new in my life!! why does our culture have to be like this? why do people have to do the same thing every single day? in my perspective, my life is actually very stressful. waking up at 6:30, sleeping at around 1 am. stupid internet is really distracting too. whenever i get on this crap i feel the need to surf and look up stuff and waste time and i feel like im wasting my life. should i just prevent myself from using the internet anymore?? actually wait that got me thinking, maybe if we all stopped using the internet life would be better and people will actually hang out more because the shitty friends i have- actually all the shitty people in my school- feel the need to create friendships ONLY online. which is why i deleted facebook. after i did that i finally realized who my real friends were. wouldn't life be better if we all just stepped off the internet and did productive things instead of rotting the innocence of our minds and look at stuff we don't need to? being misinformed, take the kony video that everyone knows for example. this is a prime example of how misinformed people are, and how they will listen to whatever given crap they hear from the media. oh and the media don't get me started with that our popular music sucks and everything now a days is autotuned crap crap crap and nicki minaj and rihanna and all that. what happened to the classic music??? i'm like the only one in my group of 5 close friends that actually listens to good music whereas theyre listening to shitty justin beiber and one direction (theyre hot though but their music sucks). wait but getting back to the part where our society is becoming more screwed up everyday. people just seem to refuse to do anything if it doesnt involve electronics or tweeting or facebooking and i am just so fed up with everything and here i am raging about something i just asked too many questions holy crap it feels good to vent moreTop Travel Photography Links
