Ok so first i wanted a hamster, then a guinea pig because they were more affectionate. I have researched both a lot but i now i decided if my mom allows, I want a hamster. I got my hamster research a while ago so i would appreciate if someone could refresh my memory. Please answer any of the questions below: What kind should i get? dwarf or syrian? Which is better and what are they like? The rescue near my house only has baby and adult syrian so if i want a dwarf is there somewhere besides a pet store, i can go? What type of cage is the best for a hamster? safest and preferably easy to clean. Should i get a Male or female? pros and cons of both? What is a good kind of bedding and food for hamsters? Safe and nutritional treats? I am worried about the temperature in my house. I know not to keep them in the sun or by a vent/fan but what is the safest temperature for a hamster? Open Question: Chihuahua puppy in crate? Screaming!?

I asked a question earlier, but it was NOT phrased right and everyone jumps to the conclusion my dog is being abused and not loved.. anyways. i just bought a chihuahua puppy after doing years of research, and am trying to crate train it. The only time is will be in its crate room will be during the day for 6hrs while I am at work. Its crate is in a laundry room with his food, toys, and potty pads, it had lots of windows and is big. In the mornings I walk and play with it and then put it in the laundry room. When I am home at 2 I let it out and it is left out all night until bedtime to play and walk. My question is, when it gets put in its crate it cries and cries and dosent stop crying. You see i am trying to crate train it for the next couple days because I dont have work.It needs to get used to being alone for a while while I am at work. Also when I travel, crate training will be helpful. I try for 30min periods a couple times a day to put it in its crate an shut it and leave. It cries and cries for ever and dosent stop. I feel so bad! It tried to claw its way out of it, the crate should be a happy den place for it, not a torture cage! It is plenty big enough too, with all his toys and moms blanket in it. also I dont want it to become too attached, because then I have heard of dogs having separation anxiety and I would never wish that on my baby!! Will this stop? more

This isn't much but I want to make sure my beginning it good. Constructive criticism is welcome. Chapter One I watched as the first of London flew by outside the car window. It was a stormy day. The sky was gray and dismal and the sun was nowhere in sight. Not the happiest day for moving. My family and I were moving to London. We had lived in Paris for two months as is the usual time that we stay in one place. I had been all over the world. Rome, China, Egypt, and even Russia. My mom had a job as a journalist. She was in such great favor with her boss, that she was the only one chosen to travel to world and search for mesmerizing stories. She apologized every time we moved, promising that this would be where we stay. That was two years ago and once again she swears that this is where we will stay. I’ve heard plenty about London. It’s rainy and foggy. Of course, I love storms, but I don’t have anyone to share it with. I didn’t have any friends in Paris, I haven’t bothered to make friends for four years. I got rid of texting on my cell phone plan long ago, because I had no one to talk to. This place isn’t going to be any different. I’ll be the shiny new toy at my new school and then the new toy will disappear and everyone will move on. I doubt anyone even knows that I went to their school. Resolved Question: Dog will not tolerate going in the boot?

Hi I have a 16 week old puppy, we have had her for 2 weeks and she will not tolerate being in the boot. When we went to pick her up we put a crate in the boot (as advised by the breeder) with blankets and toys in it. She was fine while we stood chatting for 15 mins but just as we were pulling out of the drive way there was this stench and she had dioreaed all over the crate, weed and been sick, and was covered in it! So we cleaner her up and tried again, same thing happens 5 mins down the road. So its a 4 hour drive back to my house so (my partner is driving) and I have her on my knee and she was fine and went to sleep. I was thinking she didn't like the crate as she was doing the same in it at home and whining etc. Luckily she is quite a good puppy and can be left in the house without destroying it so we did away with the crate. So I tried her in the boot (with my labrador) there was plenty of room and she pooed and weed in the boot!! (the lab was not impressed!) I now have her a harness which attaches to the seatbelt and she (doesn't like it) but has been ok in the front passenger seat. I daren't try her in the back yet... Is it travel sickness/nerves/ or is she just doing it out of malipulation so she gets to come up front with us? ThanksSorry maybe I didn't explain properly, I have 5 door 4 x 4, it's not a closed boot, there is a dog guard up in the back, I have tinted windows and the seats were tilted down as the crate wouldn't fit in if we didn't move the seats, so she could see us. Hello,I am about to embark on my bravest journey yet....travel a cross atlantic flight with my 15 month old son. before you think I have gone completely crazy....let me quickly add that the reason is to meet my entire family and friends who live there. SO the crazy idea.Anyway....since i cant reason with him much, I cant talk him into submission or quietening him...I know toys might be good but his attention span is small so I cant expect him to be engrossed in anythng for too long. Am I doomed? of course he wont get his own seat amd they MIGHT give me a car seat...but I am not sure how much he will want to sit on his....the only thing I am hoping for is that he sleeps for at least the first leg of the journey...since its a night flight.I am flying British Airways. I am traveling from southern IN to Northern TX with my 18 month old daughter to see my husband in the Air Force (he's at his tech school). Well im a huge fan of prerunners, trophy trucks, sand rails any thing with long travel suspension, i actually have a 99 ford ranger 3.0 2wd and auto trans with long travel suspension, 18 inches of travel front and back. I live in a really small town surounded with 45 square miles of forest with alot of back roads, dirt roads so on... So i think this truck is a really functional truck up here, its got really soft suspension its a fun toy truck but it can also get the job done, i have to haul water out to my house. My friends think im better off trading in my truck for a big lifted 4x4 truck cause mine doesnt have 4 wheel, where i live there is alot of snow and mud i forgot to mention that. Voting Question: My 9 year old sister in law wont share with my 2 yr old...what to do?

This is an interesting situation which makes this so hard to figure out. My wife's father got remarried and had another child who is now nine. My wife and I have a daughter who is two. Recently we moved to the town her father lives in because we love it and my wife feels safe there (I travel a lot for work). My wife's father lives below us in a two flat as we are renting while we save to buy or own house. The situation is great except for that my sister in law has major issues with our daughter being around. She has essentially been an only child and refuses to share anything with our daughter. My SIL tends to come up by us a lot to play with our daughter and her toys but if we hang out by them, our daughter isn't allowed to touch anything. Just today our daughter grabbed a toy (which was age appropriate for her) and yanked it our of her hand went to her room and closed the door. My wife said to her if you want to play with our daughter's toys then you are going to have to share too which made my SIL start crying hysterically. It made me mad because my daughter's feeling were hurt. What is your take on the situation? Do you think it is fair that we make our daughter share with her if it is not being reciprocated? She we talk to our in laws about it? Any advice is appreciated! more

i have been playing paintball for a long time and ive been wanting to get into airsoft because there are alot more scenario games you can play. and i came up with my own based on the popular video game resident evil. tell me what you think. the game can take anywhere from 3-6 hrs to complete(possible more) it consists of the members of the famous s.t.a.r.s. unit battling zombies. you will need a big building to serve as the mansion.and hopefully a place with a field with reasonable size grass and maybe some smaller building to serve as the outside. heers how it goes. bravo team goes in first(15-20 mins) before alpha team. unlike the game bravo team will not be dead when alpha arrives(hopefully). the two teams will have to work together or separately to complete there goal which is to first find the key to leave to builiding then travel outside and search until you find your main objective(the cure to the t-virus) before an airstrike destroys the area then make your way back to the house to the area designated as the comm room were they will call for an air evacuation. they will have to defend the area for 5 minutes until the evac arrives. at which point they run back outside to the evac site. now the rules. to make it fair 1 shot equals1 kill no matter where it hits(unless noted). in homage to resident evil games each player will start with one handgun(unless noted) with only 30 rds of ammo. survivors can take up to 7 bites before death and then reanimation(which occurs 30 seconds after death at which point you drop your weapons and become a zombie). guns and ammo will be scattered throughout the area for use but it must be used wisely. also there will be areas called safe rooms where zombies cannot go which can give you time to rest and reload. you can stay in them as long as you like but it wastes time. also characters should be chosen randomly. both teams can coordinate tactics thru radio contact also certain things should be classified as herbs and first aid spray for healing survivors must exhibit signs of being hurt. 1-3 bites you walk and run normally 4-5 you walk slower and with a slump. 6 and above you walk with a limp and you can not run and barely walk. zombie characters are not armed with guns and can only bite the survivors. also the zombies respawn 45 seconds after death. there are red and green herbs each green herb heals 1 bite while a red and green heal all damage(just like a first aid spray) red herbs are useless on there own. each game is to have a defector who is to eliminate both teams to stop them from completing there goal. they must wait for the right time to attack(preferably 1 at a time) the defector can ask "barry burton" for help and they cannot refuse. unless the defector is "barry burton. also throughout the scenario there will be areas you cannot enter without a key some "locked" doors can be picked while some others cannot. next the characters. 1. normal zombie(limited movement not able to take cover use weapons) 1 shot to kill 2.dr. salvador( limited movement not table to take cover the chainsaw wielder instantly kills a character he attacks required to use a chainsaw so they stand out 3 shots to kill) you can buy a toy one for $10 at wal-mart 3.nemesis(zombie allowed to move at normal speed only zombie allowed to use a gun 5 shots to stop him for 15 seconds) 4.hunter(zombie allowed to run 3 shots to kill) Bravo team. 1.enrico marini(team leader) starts of with a shotgun or assault rifle(coin flip or something like that decides what weapon each team leader gets. one gets a shotgun and one gets a assault rifle 2.forest speyer(marksman) uses a bolt action rifle 3.kenneth sullivan(pointman) starts with a handgun 4.edward dewey(pilot marksman) starts with a handgun 5.rebecca chambers(medic)only character allowed to combine the affects of red and green herbs starts with a handgun 6.richard aiken(comm expert) starts with a handgun and radio. alpha team 1.albert wesker(team captain) starts with a shotgun or assault rifle 2.brad vickers(pilot) starts with a handgun 3.joseph frost(mechanic, comm expert) 4.barry burton(weapons specialist) starts with a handgun and double ammo 5.chris redfield(marksman) starts with a handgun 6.jill valentine(B&E specialist) starts with a handgun and can open some doors that can be "lockpicked" also it should be noted of the if both teams comm experts die then communication is down team can no longer coordinate. so there it is let me know what you think. more

There are so many puppy mills out there and people who don't care about the dogs that they are breeding, so everyone is skeptical. I read the answers people gave, but the truth is, there is no REAL definition for what a BYB is. It's whatever people want them to be. To some people, it's anyone who doesn't show their dogs, to others it's anyone who breeds at all, to me, is anyone who breeds ONLY for the profit and couldn't care less about their animals. We had actually intended to show a couple years ago but with our young kids, decided it's not something we have time for at this point in our life. Showing requires an incredible amount of time, money and traveling. We are still hoping to show some time down the road when our kids are grown. Since showing isn't an option for us right now, our tzu are just our family and loving pets. Right now, we are breeding for nice conformations and great temperaments for wonderful companion pets. Many of our shih tzu puppies can be show quality if someone wants to pursue it. Whoever answered about making a profit is right, you don't really make a profit after you calculate in all the expenses. Any profit we do get goes right back into our tzu family, buying them new beds, toys, vet expenses, food expenses, grooming expenses, etc. About their registry, APRI is just as wonderful of a registry as any other, but people who prefer AKC constantly talk bad about the other registries out there because they think theirs is the best. All the registry really means is that the puppy is purebred. Puppy mills, backyard breeders and even the best breeders in the country use APRI, AKC and any others there may be. The registry tells you nothing about the breeder or the puppies. Many of our adults are registered with AKC, but we register our puppies with APRI because that is the registry we prefer. I hope that helps answer your questions a little bit :) Please don't hesitate to ask if you have other questions. heloo sir/mdm, i am 24, i have a bachelor degree in Textile engineering, i hate it... i quit a job after 1 month, not enough pay and lot of noise in industry and dry environment.. but i have no other choice, the degree cant be use in any other field.. i dont like teaching that much, but i am good at teaching tutions part time. i have a option of MBA marketing, i also dont like it too. PLZZZ i cant think what i like, i sit 15 hours on computer almost daily surfing internet watching movies, thats 1 thing i like a lot. I also want to go to Europe travelling and a small beautiful home there etc and any job in beautiful place i can do for living there i will do. but i am stuck in asia with no money to go anywhere...alas...ok thats my wishes, i need to full fill it. I had seen a chiropractor before about my lower back pain problem the docotor had untightened my lower back and made the pain go away. My doctor said the muscles tightened up and wraped around my spine, no knocked out plates though. It all started when I was working at Toys R Us and I was carrying a very tall latter and I put it down after I was finished down stocking and I go to pick a item off the floor and it hurt like some one was stabbing me in the lower back with a knife. It has been about four years now and I started working in my garden and it requires a lot of bending and moving and it started up again the same pain. It now feels like the pain travels down my glutes and the back of my thighs and the side of my thighs too. I barley move forward and backwards and I could feel my lower back spine area like a knife stabbing me. I dont have any medical coverage anymore so I cant see my doctor. I do a stretching workout called pilates and some cardio too and seems to soothe the pain a little for the moment and the next day it comes right back. I'm taking a 6-day trip to Arizona with my 8 month old daughter. We wont have a rental car so I need to be thorough in my packing. We have a rental company dropping off a pack 'n' play, a car seat, a baby gate, a pack of diapers and a pack of wipes; and a friend is going to take us to the grocery store for water and food the day after we arrive. Aside from those items, I must bring everything we could possibly need or we'll just be sh*t out of luck lol. Here's what I've got so far: Clothing: 4 short-sleeve onesies, 3 long-sleeve shirts, 4 PJs, 4 shorts, 3 pants, 6 pairs socks, 2 pairs shoes, 3 sunhats, 3 dresses, 1 jacket, 1 bathing suit. 8 receiving blankets, 2 fleece blankets, sunglasses. Feeding: Tons of bibs, 2 cans formula (one lasts about 4 days), formula mixing pitcher, all our bottles (about 15), snacks (yogurt melts and rice puffs, will have these in the carryon on the plane), 2 days worth of baby food to get us through to when we go shopping, so 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners. lots of spoons, 4 bowls. Health/Hygiene: baby wash, gum cleaner, 8 diapers (for the day of travel, will have more as soon as we get to the hotel), pack of wipes, diaper rash cream, eczema ointment (can't imagine how bad her skin might get in such a dry climate :( its already bad in florida), sunscreen, teething gel, car seat strap covers (absolute must with her dry skin or the straps make her skin crack), neck pillow, 2 pacifiers (helps when going up in the plane cause sucking makes baby's ears pop). Fun: pool floatie, tub squirties, fabric blocks, her favorite duckie and turtle toys, balls (all of these toys are small, collectively wouldn't even fill a grocery bag) Other: Baby monitor and extra batteries (the hotel suite is 2 separate rooms), stroller. I am the type to forget the obvious and bring things that won't get used lol. Anything else I may need?The long sleeves and blankets are because we will be spending alot of time in the conference room where for whatever reason the hotel always insists on keeping the AC set at 65. Even when everyone complains. I always bundle up in my snuggie lol. Good call on the bottle brush! Totally would've forgotten that since i use the dishwasher at home. more

Can anyone give me some advice as to what I really need to bring for a 3 1/2 yr old boy, 2 yr old girl, and a 7 mth old boy on vacation. We will be going to NC for a week and we have never gone on vacation with all three before. Voting Question: Pomeranian puppy training?

When I've got my own place and have settled down, I want to get a dog. I've always wanted to get a larger dog, but I don't think I would have a large enough place, enough money, etc etc. That's not just why, but I have always wanted to get a Pomeranian because they're one of the few small dogs that I don't think are completely terrier-like unlike most of the toy dogs. They are pretty darn cute too, eh? :) I would love to rescue a dog, but don't think I'll live near a rescue shelter and won't want to stress the dog out by making him travel really far. Well, what I want in a dog is one that'll welcome me home happily, be excited to see me, as I'll most likely be living alone. I want one that will defend my property, but won't be completely snappy and yappy at everything, and I would like it to bark at unusual things, but to respond to the 'quiet' command. I know how to do this, but I'm just worried it won't listen to me and I'll be left with deaf ears and angry neighbours. I will happily take it for as much exercise as a Pom needs, I'm happy to walk it in rain or shine, as I am quite into walking, and having a dog that needs exercise will encourage me to stay in shape. This is another reason why I don't want a big dog - i would happily walk them to their needs, but might not have enough time to do so. When I haven't got much time, I can just walk my Pom to the park, play games, then go home. I don't want to carry him around and use him as an accessory, and want him to be a lovely little companion. If he won't mind being dressed up at Halloween, or Christmas or something, then I don't see any problem. But I do have something against seeing an animal forced to wear something when they can't decide if they want to wear it or not. But, if he doesn't mind then I don't see why not? So yeah. My questions are how to train and raise the puppy so he becomes a confident, friendly, sociable dog, and not one of those yappy snappy vicious little monsters that I am really scared of owning. I will try to keep ground rules, but how can I get him settled on the first night if he wants to sleep in my bed? I don't want to give in...and I'm scared this'll be the case with potty training, socialising, etc. How can I teach him to become a well behaved little angel? I'd be rather embarassed if I let a little fluffy pom pom rule my house. :P Sorry I'm banged on for so long, but I really want to raise a good dog. I also have a scare of him living with just me. I mean, I've seen some small dogs become 'one person dogs' because they only live with their owner, and aren't really used to other people. My mum will happily look after him when I look after him when I go to work, etc. But I'm scared she'll spoil him and make him turn into a brat. How can I stop him from becoming protective of me? So lets get this straight, we never had ANY problems, besides the fact that he lossed his phone so talking and meeting up was a little hard, but other than that we are GREAT and still are actually...he tried to play at getting at me. i danced with him, and though he tried to kiss me i just responded by kissing my fingers and placing them on his lips with a smile and a pat on the cheek. ( ha! smooth move right! ) i saw him again a few days ago at his brothers initial sermon at a local church, and another movie moment like above. i had to leave early but my friend lanisha txtd me right after a conversation she had with him where she told him that we needed to work things out, and he responded saying: he wanted to, he was going to try again, he still really liked me ( he used the L O V E word ) and he was going to find a way to get me back. so lately we have been talking more and finding more interest we share. he is a BEAST at playing guitar! which is SO attractive! we were the match people saw as puzzle pieces, people said we looked just...great! together, and we just...idk...fit. plus when i hug him, its the BEST feeling in the world! like..its one of those low down feelings that comes from the very bottom of your stomach and just runs up your spine and its GREAT! dont start me on kisses..though ive only kissed him 3 times and none of them were full force, they were great :) but anyway, im not going to fall for anything and im still very hesitant about any choices im going to make. we talked things over and he seems very sincere and truthful about everything he told me. ha, truth be told... without the incedent i mentioned above we would probably still be together. there are others that have my interest but i don't feel the same connection with any of them that i do with him ( of course some of that being because i've known him a while ) he may be transferring to my school this year which seems like fate to me, so im contemplating these things as they happen. what do you think about it?Im not in 8th grade, i start high school in 2 weeks.just clarification :) more

Resolved Question: Stumped on where to have my daughters 2nd birthday party?

We were originally planning on having it at our apartment. However, I have a rather large family and my daughter is the baby of the family. So they all love spoiling her at any given opportunity (she usually gets new toys just because they get to babysit her!). So they will all be at the party because it's the perfect opportunity to spoil her rotten. And our apartment is not big enough to hold all of them comfortably. Then I suggested my mums boyfriends house since it's bigger. That got shot down because my boyfriend hates this guy with a passion. Actually no one in the family is very fond of him to be honest. Her birthday is at the end of September so planning it for outside isn't a good idea. We live in Southern Ontario and it starts getting a bit chilly and rainy here that time of year (we had a storm on the day of her 1st birthday party). Everyone else I know lives in apartments or out of town and I'm not going to ask my family to travel out of town just to go to a birthday party for a child who lives IN town. Any ideas of where I could hold the party that won't cost us a lot of money? more
