Open Question: I want him out of my head.....what should I do?

Hello all, Please bare with me for this long explanation. I should premise it by being upfront of the fact that I have had strong experiences of emotional and sexual abuse when I was a lot younger and am very socially anxious and have really no social outlet... which does make dating somewhat difficult :( I’ve been involved with a man for 2 ½ years. I met him online at a time when I had incredibly low self esteem and our first meet involved me getting tipsy and sexual contact (which I know is not the way to go if I want a relationship!). After that he was basically persuing me for sex and I drew a line under my mistake and wrote the whole thing and him off. But he didn’t give up, and was contacting me every few weeks via text/msn/email. I think my confidence was so low that I responded to him when he got in touch, although I didn’t let it become ‘sex chat’ and kept telling him that it wasn’t going to happen again. Six months after we had met he was still in touch and had calmed down with pushing sex and I actually felt like he may genuinely be interested in me. I knew he had started seeing someone, but my understanding was that she wasn’t a girlfriend and that it was in the early days of dating. He asked me out to lunch and I accepted. The morning of the date I was incredibly nervous, I found myself really wanting to be with him in a relationship and I was petrified, I didn’t feel worthy at all, and I cancelled the lunch date and instead arranged to meet him for coffee in the afternoon (which I found easier to deal with). He was meant to meet me at the station, but texted me to come to his apartment, which I did. He kissed me within five minutes of me arriving. He was very tender and sensual, I don’t think he was using me like he had done the first time. It became sexual again, but again, he was very respectful with me. I was very confused at what was happening, I hadn’t anticipated things going that way, I thought we were going to have a chat and get to know each other. I left shortly afterwards, I still don’t know if he wanted me to stay longer or not, I think I was too scared to put myself in the position where it may have been clear he wanted me to leave, so I cut it short. After that day, he basically got under my skin and I became attached.... and yes my logic went out of the window. He basically started using me. We have met up maybe five or six times in the past two years with msn/text/email in between. It has always been me going to him (we live an hour or two apart) and it has often been at really awkward times in the early hours of the morning or literally just having sex then him telling me to leave. He has been sexually abusive and rough. He would have met me a lot more, except I wasn’t happy to do all the travelling and he wasn’t prepared to come to me. I have always wanted a relationship and although it seems ridiculous, I was always hoping that we would end up in a relationship together. Having him in my life has cast a shadow over me getting to know other people and a few weeks ago I gave him an ultimatum. I said he could either start seeing me properly, exclusively and respectfully or I would change my phone number and email. I realise its not ideal to try and force things but i didn’t see what else to do. He replied and said he had been with someone for two years and was in love with her and also that he thought fidelity was artificial. He also said that he likes me and although doesn’t want a relationship with me, he doesn’t want to finish it. I said I cannot continue as it has and we agreed to be ‘mates’. Not that I really think he’s capable of being much of a mate, and I’m wary of him worming his way in again. I don’t know what to do. I think I have a lot of work to do on my confidence before I am ready for a relationship and I don’t want things with him hanging over me as all he’s done is undermine my confidence further. And he cheats. The trouble is I feel like I’m waiting for him to get in touch. I’m such a soppy romantic, I keep thinking about the glimmers of when he treated me tenderly. Theres a voice in my head telling me just to cut him off, but I don’t think I’m strong enough. I can see myself going through and changing my details but then becoming depressed and panicing and initiating contact with him. Its a sad indicament of my life really, but I think my experiences when I was younger and current lonliness have made this thing with him feel so poignant and in a weird way has felt comfortable. I just want to move on from the whole thing and start to build my life. I would very much appreciate any advice. Thank you. more

I'm canadian and im living in mexico. I bought my chihuahua puppy (he now has 3 months) here in mexico. I'm planning on going to visit family in canada for 2 weeks and i want to bring him with me. I will be flying with US AIRWAYS. Shots are differnt here in mexico and hes had 3 shots so far and been givin medicine 2 times to clean his insides from worms or anything like that. My boyfriend is here and is able to take care of him, but hes seriously my baby and i would like to take him with me. Voting Question: What to do about employer/friend?

I won an online contest last year, and prize was money and a camera from Sanyo. During the contest we had to get votes every day and most vote winners won top 5 places, Out if the top 5 , one was picked by Sanyo. They chose mine ( my video), and so I got the prize. During the 8 weeks of voting, I did facebook and myspace etc to get votes. During that time I approached loads of people and somehow got talking to the owner of the contest site ( didn't know it was hiom til he told me he was not able to vote for me!). He mentioned he wanted me to do some work for him in another section of the contest site- this was outside of the contest, and concerned a different contest, and it was way before the final votes were counted. We carried on emailing a little bit, then I won the contest. That was six months ago and no sign of the prize money or camera. I have email the company a lot of times, and they promised to have the prize fulfilled by Jan 1st. After 5th Jan, I emailed- Sanyo still haven't sent the checkes etc. I start emailing every two weeks or so. A few weeks ago, this same guy, told me if they hadn't received the check by monday, he would personally cut me a check. Meanwhile he mentions the other job he has in line for me. I have no reason to believe this is a made-up story, as he mentioned it way before the contest got heated. Next week, still no check. I called, got through to him end of week, and he said same thing= "as I said, if I haven't heard by monday I will cut you a check"./ ( he said this the week before) NExt week I call, he is travellign his secretray orders a phone meeting, then he doesn't call at the time, just emails me at the time saying sorry he was so busy....so if he is emailing me at exactly the time we are supposed to call, why not phone? I call him and email during his travelling ( for work) he says he is speaking to the people at Sanyo the next day and will tell them to cough up. I don't hear for a week, then email him, are you back? He says, back in office monday (last monday) and will personally cut me a check then. I email monday, saying welcome back, he emails, "still travellling", and no word of check. Now, I email asking when exactly the check was sent ()trying to catch him out) as I haven't seen it, and maybe my mail box is not secure. Email back from him saying "sorry, so busy, bit short staffed this week". Email him, asking again , ,when was the check sent etc. Today , get email from another office worker- his assistant, saying they haven't sent the check, still wating. And I respond "huh, but he said the check was cut on monday last week, so I'm concerned" ( still playing innocent to try catch them lying). I know he is being evasive, that is obvious. He is stalling like a champion, I've never seen someone worm so much. Maybe he doesn't want the added paperworl or whatever, but he has promised four times now and hasn't fulfillled. Shame you once, etc, I understand all this. I don't want my possilbe job he's got for me to be jeopardised, at the same time I've made commitments on the money I have been promised, and don't want to be a doormat. I can let rip with him, but don't want to burn bridges. Sorry this is long winded, but I have to let you know all the details. SO far, he has not directly lied, onyl evaded and snaked around. Since my email asking WHEn the cheque was sent he simply hasn't replied ,except the first time, when he hurried a response " sorry , short staffed'. Either he thinks he is fooling me, or he really thinks I am stupid. I can see right through it, I know he's stalling. I just don't know best how to be assertive and get me money now, and still be in the future jopb. He may respect me more for speaking up, or it could be he's truned off by someone who won't put up with him. The job he offered is worth me sticking around. I just also want to be respected, but not seen as a cringeworthy dragon. By now it is late in the running to be considered a total bitch, and if they did say that, it would be their problem- I have been more thatn patient. So, any advice how to handle it?wow, you guys are very judgemental,, this is a site that IS bona fide just taking tooo long to get my prize money, the contest rules are still posted, no word of when the prize will be given.Creole Lady that is the best advice I have heard and one to use for any other time. FWIW, there have been about five other contests on this site in the last six months, and all those prizes have come through- its' not an obvious wheeler dealer guy, I am not stupid that way. I was an outlaw with no were to go, or so I thought. Tim runs continually, when one era ends, another starts. But what happens to the past? Does it just end- no. It re-creates itself, it moves on, and on, and on. And so came my discovery of the Era of Machines. Millenniums away from the mass chaos that had erupted in my time. It was in the future, a time I was never supposed to live for. It was, per se, and impromptu decision, and maybe the most horrible decision of my life, but I realized when I traveled through the everlasting worm holes that folded the universe into six sections, that I had to change the future too. Voting Question: Black Holes books films etc?

I was watching a film which dealt with a problem arising from space in the form of a black hole and after just read up on them don't know why just did. After reading there are two theory's on time travel one by a person can travel only to a place from which they exist and the device used to take them there exists Or two by which they use strings within the universe which are under Immense pressure to travel faster than light slowing time effectively time traveling but two is bound by the fact that you can't go back further than the source was still in existence (being the beginning of time) but it states slows time down not reverse it so how is it possible to go back in time via this method. Also the first method states you and the device have to exist in the past time to which you are traveling which would mean the second theory isn't possible due to the fact you didn't exist . I thought of teleportation you can only transport to another device of known location which means its been built and is in the time zone. But technology exists to give a device co-ordinates to a location without a further device being present think of nuclear war heads they have a launch facility which is used to give launch co-ordinates to a place where nothing may exist. (Or in transport via satellite ) What do you think time travel possible or not teleportation possible or not. I personally think teleportation is possible but time travel isn't. Resolved Question: Worm composting and I need help going bigger!?

I have seen composting bins on the internet and I see they have many tiers to them. What are in the tiers and why are there so many? I see some with like food on the top two layers and then what looks like dirt or compost and then the compost tea at the bottom. I was thinking about maybe buying something cheap like plastic drawers and doing the same thing with the levels. How do these levels work? What separates them? Do worms travel throughout the levels? Is there a site that shows me something that shows the levels in details and their parts and sizes? Right now I have just a simple bin of worms and they seem to be doing just great! I want to go bigger, vertically though. Any help? more

Voting Question: My Puppy has worms and now is unwell...?

My puppy had her first injection yesterday and we also found out she had worms after she became travel sick in the car and vomited up worms. He'd already given her a worming tablet which i then administered to her. Since then she has not eaten anything ( I was already worried about her eating as she eats every little but put this down to her settling in) I woke up this morning and there was mucus on the kitchen floor (sorry for this but like snot) with blood in it. There was very little but still worried, then as she was going to sleep she was shaking and also her stomach is making some strange noises? Is this just the injection/worming tablet kicking in or should i be concerned. She has only been with us a week and this is the first time i've had a puppy. I've read up but there are so many contradicting stories and would like to be sure before I take her to the emergency vet. Cn anyone? adviseHi Guys thanks for your quick answers, I rang the vets who advised not to feed her until tonight and if she had not picked up in the morning then to take her back in... I want a dog for companionship. In the past I have taken in adult dogs and raised dogs from puppy-hood (8 weeks old). The dogs I raised as puppies had a wonderful bond with me and were extremely well behaved. The adult dogs never worked out; that close bond was missing and they had behavioral issues. I know there are people who are comfortable "re-training" adult dogs with behavioral issues, but I am not one of them: I am not a "Dog Whisperer" or rescuing type. However I am very comfortable with raising a puppy as I find them easy to train and bond with. I have tried Petfinder.com only to discover that most of the puppies listed - even though they are listed as being within 50 miles of me - are actually many hundreds of miles away. The dog rescue groups ship them up to New England, but post them in New England long before they arrive in the hope that someone will adopt them sight unseen. Additionally, most are in Southern states and my Vet tells me that 50 percent of the dogs he sees from down South have Heart Worm disease passed on from the mother (undetectable until 6-7 months of age). And the local town shelters only seem to have adult dogs. I need to meet the puppy first and see if we like each other. I am, after all, bringing home a new family member. I would prefer to adopt a mixed-breed dog who is at risk of going to the dog pound rather than go to a breeder. How do I find a puppy born locally? I am willing to pay a reasonable amount, and I am willing to travel up to 100 miles. more

Voting Question: DIY project assistance?

Hello all, I am looking for somewhere I'm able to buy small hobby sized gears for a project I'm building. I need to reduce the speed of a powerful 12V DC motor similar to the one you'd find in a small cheap air compressor to drive a piston I'm building to pump water slowly. I'm looking at reducing the speed to as low as 30RPM which should allow plenty of force from the high speed motor to drive a piston head up and down a PVC pipe. I'm not sure of the motor I'm after yet but I know the motor will output 15,000 to 20,000 RPM and will have to travel through several gear-sets to reduce to the 30RPM as not to over-do my DIY piston (its more for show anyway so low speed is good). So what i'm asking you guys is: 1.) Where can I buy gears needed in Australia (preferably near Adelaide so I won't need to post them and they are only needed small. Also I probably won't want plastic due to the force and high speed) 2.) What type of gears should I use (Worm or normal etc.) 3.) What ratio will I need through each set to achieve such a low speed? My question is are we advancing fast as ppl would have predicted? Take for example 2001: A Space Odyssey (written in 1968), the general expectations (in fiction at least) were that space travel would be much easier than its was in the real 2001. My feeling is that we have become more "earth centric", i.e. we are more focusing on money making, how to become richer, how to make people comforter rather than space travel. Another aspect is the security concerns because of the stupid terrorism threats. I would like some thoughts and materials (web links) around the following; 1. What were the expectations of earlier generations? 2. Do you feel we are advancing in the right pace? 3. Voting Question: What criteria for entry/exit would you set to improve our Immigration system?

Immigration is a fact, we cannot, and in my view should not close our borders. Neither however can we allow all and sundry to come here. Many British people emigrate, and they go to all corners of the world, so the notion of closing our gates is a none starter. A former colleague of mine went along the path of emigrating to Australia, he worked for a major Telecom company and his skill set's and experience were required in Australia, he had sufficient funds, and after completing the pre emigration process it was determined that he had enough "Points" to be allowed to go to the country. Now as it happens, he went on a trial basis. He didn't sell his house here in the UK, he went over and rented in the area he would be living and he went to work there. After a few Months, he decided that having seen the country, and done the work, it was not for him. Of course there were a number of other factors like being so far from loved ones (Mum, Dad etc) who would only ever see him if they were able to travel or on the one or two times a year he would be able to get back to Britain. If he could have taken his parents and all the others that he would miss, then he may have stayed in Australia. None of those concerned would have been able to get a permanent visa or ILR in Australia, they could not have passed the criteria or gained sufficient points (age, skills, health etc etc). I think the Australians have got it right. So is this the sort of thing we have, and if it is, why do we have so many people bringing in relatives who would never be allowed into Australia. Resolved Question: Can you interpert my Worm dream?

I had a dream there was a blemish on my finger. I tried to pop it and a little worm thing popped out... I discovered there was a worm under my skin. I kept asking the people around me to help me get it out but no one would help me.. I kept messing with it trying to get it out until the area got really irritated, red and swallen and the way the worm was moving made it seem that "it" understood I was trying to remove it from under my skin.. So I tied my finger off with string to cut off the circulation and make sure the worm didn't travel under my skin to other parts of my body.. I then squeezes with all my might and removed the worm with tweezers... now... WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN??!?!?!?!?!?!?! :/ I hate my dreams.. more

Resolved Question: What if space aliens are none other but us?

This may sound absolutely crazy, but what if all of the "alien" phenomena is human beings from the future. Like all of the ufo's, abductions, contact stories, and cases in the bible and early christian art depicting and describing UFO and aliens. It might even be able to explain pyramids and the other alien contact that people talk about that could have happened thousands of years ago. Even Francis Crick’s “Maybe space aliens seeded life” is true. Human beings spawning life and starting the evolution process. I do not know how the first human beings got there but this time loop of future humans spawning life is part of gods plan and he put the first humans on earth to start this time loop. There is probably so many things wrong with this proposal but i would like to see others thoughts. Now as for the time travel part, I am not too sure if time travel could ever be possible but in the future it might. Maybe with more discoveries with worm holes and other stuff in that nature. Like lets say we discovered time travel in, lets say 700 years from now, and we go way back in time to try and observe the beginning origins of life and we discover nothings there, so we decide to plant it the first seeds of life. This is just some crazy, preposterous idea that I came up with and i don't really believe its true, but i am curious to see what others think of it? more

Resolved Question: My computer has been infected with Trust Soldier before, but...?

A few months ago, my computer became infected with the scam "antivirus" called Trust Soldier. Basically (if you don't know already), it's a virus that travels from PC to PC with the help of a Trojan to inform you of nonexistent infections in your files. It warns you of the fake infections, and conveniently doesn't give you the option to rid them of your system, but instead tricks you into paying for the full version... That's not the problem, though. I got rid of that a few months ago. But anyway, I've noticed that my computer is infected again, with a number of Trojans and E-mail worms and whatnot, and my PC (on its own) suggested and INSISTED that I download "Antivir" to get them off. It seems EXACTLY like Trust Soldier, there is absolutely NO option to remove the viruses with the "free trial." It's trying to make me pay for the full version to remove them, and now I don't know how to remove it. The "viruses" keep building up and I don't know what to do. MY 2 MAIN QUESTIONS: Is this "Antivir" a real antivirus system or just another scam? If it's actually real, how in the world do I remove it!?Thanks. Do you know if it's another scam though? And, I have been trying to download AVG, but every time it says I have to remove Antivir first, but then when I go into "Add/remove Programs," it's NOT IN THERE. I'M SO CONFUSED. more

Resolved Question: What if War World Two would have been prevented via modern day technology?

Just for a moment, imagine that we have the technology needed to travel back in time, and that the US Army is planning to go back in time to prevent War World Two from happening. Now imagine that they open a worm hole and pass themselves and all of their equipment through it. Their equipment would include the most cutting edge technologies available here at 2009. Now that they arrived at the year of 1939, they fight off the Nazis with the twenty-first century's technology. The Nazi army, with their 1939s technology won't stand a chance against the 21st century F-16's, F-22's, and the modern day tanks and guns. Now, what if they prevented the Holocaust from happening, how would that reflect the future? Would Israel exist? And what changes will it bring? And by the way, when the "imaginary" US Army would go to the past via a worm hole, they won't really go to the past, since the past is gone, there is no way to travel back in time. So by opening a worm hole and going to the past, I mean that they would get into a parallel universe, where the past is now. And so the changes they would make won't affect our universe, it will only affect that parallel universe. Resolved Question: How do planets work? Or wormholes for that matter?

I want to know how and why planets stay in the position they are in and why they simply just dont fall through the universe. Is it a pocket of gravity? or is it a star that holds the planets in line? also, i want to know if its is theoretically possible for a planet to not be near a star or in rotation at all, and still have it receive some type of heat from a near by moon or planet that is set ablaze? Lastly i'm curious to know if a planet could be encompassed by a series of wormholes, yet not get sucked into them. would this, in turn prevent space travel to anywhere but the designated places the worm holes have? or are they avoidable? I know these are bizarre/ random/ ignorant or even stupid questions but i want to write a novel and this was one of my scenarios. Resolved Question: A worm falls down a well, how long does it take to get out?

A worm, with a blue spot on the top end of his body, fall to the bottom of a 400 foot deep hole in the ground just as the sun rose on a Wednesday morning. He started climbing out- blue spot leading. Each day during daylight, the worm crawled up 3 inches (measuring the distance traveled by the blue spot). At night, it slipped back 2 inches. You /showed/ me, it wasn't my fault, I didn’t meant it... It just kept crawling, inching along the curving vines of your pretty coloured flower. The problem is, you see, is a worm doesn’t know how stop. Even if it’s nice little worm, a nice blue little worm, who only ever wanted a flower for its home. A worm changes its mind very quickly- it doesn’t have a very big mind and they’re very curious too cause there’s so much they don’t understand and I tried to see where it was going, I did, and I tried to tell it to come back. But, it /really/ liked your flower. And you kept moving your arm. And now I'm afraid it will get bored of your flower, cause there’s some things worms do understand, and it will travel deeper and deeper under your skin because there’s nothing more incomprehensible than another living being.The number of "ands" are there because the person speaking is supposed to appear anxious.
