In almost one month, I will turn 16 (yay!) I am only going to invite 3 of my closest friends because I want to keep it simple, but I want it to be fun and memorable. You don't turn 16 every day! I have had several ideas of what to do, but I'm still not sure. Earlier this year, I planned on inviting my friends to Water World for my sweet 16, but I just went on a very expensive vacation to Florida and don't want my birthday to cost my parents too much. I thought about going rafting (I live near a place famous for its white water rafting), but my mom doesn't think its a good idea. Recently, I wondered whether just going bowling would be okay. My friends and I love to bowl together, but we do it all the time for almost every birthday, and like I said, I want my sweet 16 to be memorable. I also thought maybe just inviting my friends over to my house. We've never been there so we don't know weather to rent a car in my current location, Saint Louis, MO and just drive there or to get a vacation package with the flight-hotel-car. Ok, My parents are divroced and I live with them half and half. 4 days at my dad's house and 3 at my mom's house. My dad buys me food and clothes when I need them. I also pay a little for them as well. Usually i will let the clothes I need be my birthday gift or christmas gift. My mom doesn't do anything for me. She never buys me clothes or food. In fact i just asked her if I could have some food. I can cook just fine but all she buys is spaghetti. I personally don't like eating spaghetti 3 days in a row. If I ask for something else she just says eat some carrots or bread. She doesn't even buy milk for cereal. I am hungry and pissed. My dad works his ass off to get me my necessary needs and my moms does nothing. Trust me she has money, she gets 800 dollars a month for child support and is a she sells houses for a living. Oh I forgot to mention her boyfriend is a millionaire and in the past month she has gone on 3 vacations. She went to California, Texas, and Florida.I just recently turned 17 and am getting a job but I would like to be a teenager and use my money for dates not food and clothes. My dad's wife is giving me her car to me and buying a new car. She doesn't make much money so my dad is helping out. He asks my mom and she doesn't help at all. Voting Question: Which type of loan should we use to get a mortgage for a home we are planning on living in?

My husband is Active Duty military and we used a VA loan to buy our first home which we are now in the process of selling in North Carolina. We have moved overseas and live in military base housing. My husband has 4 years left in the military and we have always planned to move to Florida when he retires from the military since our families live there. The home prices in Florida right now are so low we want to take advantage of them and buy our post-military home now. From what I can tell the only home loans in Florida are primary residence and vacation homes (you can't get a mortgage for a rental property). Since we will not own a primary residence when we purchase this home and we do plan on this being a primary residence can we use a primary residence loan? The vacation loans require such a huge down payment and we cannot use a VA loan for a vacation home loan (which requires no down payment or PMI). We would like to have little to no down payment as we would have no trouble making the payments on the home since we live in military housing and the homes are soooo cheap! I don't want to empty my savings account to buy the home but I don't want to let these home prices slip us by when we are planning on living there in just a few years. What are our options for loans?When I talked to Bank of America about home loan options they said in the state of Florida you cannot get a mortgage loan for a rental property. In Florida you can get a primary residence or vacation home loan. That is not to say that you can't rent out your vacation home or your primary residence if you eventually move out of it. You just can't get an investment property loan in Florida according to Bank of America. In my original post I states we were living in military base housing overseas. I am not familiar with the parental gift option. Both of my parents have passed away so I doubt this would work. My husband's family already lives in Florida only 15 minutes away from where we want to buy. They are not in a position to give us a "gift" to help purchase a home. more

I have one year until I graduate college. Then I have plans to get a masters and or get a job. Ever since I started college I randomly said I am going to move to florida. Last winter I took a cheap vacation there and went to Tampa, Miami, Keys, Jupiter, Orlando all over in my car. I live in Illinois now and hate the state and the politics if you know what I mean. Why florida, I love off roading, beach's, windsurfing, biking and hiking. Yes I have been there during the summer so I know how hot it gets and how buggy it gets. A lot of people say that there is to many old people down there but when I was down there that didn't seem to be a problem. I went to all the big city's and seem to love them all but wouldn't want to live in south florida because I felt cramped there but Tampa was my fave and Jupiter or all along the east seemed ok but really didn't get into the country which is what I'm use too. We haven't been on a family vacation in a long time. We will be "on the road" probably a good 10-12 days with our 21 year old son and teen daughters this July and we need ideas for affordable accomodation. We have friends scattered about but my husband wants this to be a vacation, with a capital V. We cannot use our current vehicles because they are older and not reliable so we will be spending a little on a rental. We will be travelling down the East Coast (from Canada) to Florida across to Mississippi for a family reunion and then back up north through Tennessee and Ohio. Does anybody have any creative ideas? Last July me and my lady went on a cruise to the Bahamas in July. We loved it. We talk about it every single day, and it was almost a year ago. We decided that we HAVE to go on another tropical vacation this summer. We will not have as much money this summer so we have to watch our budget. I do not have the same job that I had last summer, and I am not making nearly as much money as I was. We are going to try and save up for a few months. So we are planning on maybe late August or September (I heard it can be cheaper that time of year too) We were thinking maybe 5-7 days in the keys, would be cheaper than another cruise. I read that camping in the keys can save you money from the expensive hotels, and it can also be very romantic and peaceful. So if we could camp for a few nights and maybe stay in a hotel for a few nights. That would be ideal. My question is, how expensive would it be for two to visit the keys for 5-7 days ??? Camping most of the time, and maybe a hotel for one or two nights. Not to many excursions, maybe some snorkeling.... and some site seeing (I am into photography) We were thinking maybe the Florida keys, or the Virgin islands. But the Florida keys sound cheaper. When I was 19 I got my first credit card with credit for a whole $300. I was contacted by Ramada Plaza resorts and folded like a cheap chair for a "free" vacation. I almost included 3 of my best friends. After the fact, I checked it out and although it was legitimate, it was not free. Meals, airfare to Florida, taxes turned out to be $2000+ per person. Luckily they had only charged my card for the $300 but were demanding the balance. I fought it and won. I contacted 'Phone Busters' who advised me it was legitimate but what it really cost, and that I could probably book a vacation of my choice for much, much less. The ones I love are the companies who advertise diet supplements, make-up, etc. for a free one-month trial...all you pay is the shipping. Then the next month your credit card is billed for $79.95 and good luck getting a human on the line to cancel! How about you? (and I just about bought the Slap Chop...good thing I researched that one first!) more

Resolved Question: Where and when should my boyfriend and I go on our first vacation together?

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years now, and we want to finally go on a vacation somewhere. I'll be 20 in October, he'll be 21 in December. I can't decide if we should go somewhere over the summer (probably late July early August) or if we should wait until winter break (mid December to mid January) to go somewhere. Also, I can't decide where to go! I think he really wants to go to like a national park or something historic, and I'm fine with pretty much anything. I DO think a beach vacation would be easier and cheaper, but I'm not sure how fond he would be of that. Although, with the right destination, for the right price, he can probably be convinced! I've been to Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Iowa, and Florida, (he's been to all, plus Nebraska) and we'd really like to visit a place we've never been to. We'd like it to be relatively cost effective, too. No more than 700 a person (flight and hotel) in the summer, and no more than 800 a person (flight and hotel) in the winter. Cheaper than that would obvisouly be GREAT!!! We have also entertained the idea of DRIVING somewhere, but we only have like 4 or 5 days to vacation, so that probably wouldn't be wise. So, where do you think we should go? When do you think we should go? What to do there? more

Resolved Question: Floridaaa! Which city is the best to vacation for a few days?

Keep in mind... CHEAP. My boyfriend I are looking to spend a few days in Florida for our Spring Break this year. I don't want to go anywhere super expensive, as we are both limited on money (we probably have 1k each to spend TOPS. Absolutely no more than that!) I don't want to go to a city where I have to pay a lot of money to have fun. For example, theme parks? No thanks. My boyfriend doesn't ride rollercoasters anyways (I know, total killjoy). SO! Basically I want somewhere: Cheap, but nice! Relaxing Lots of things to do (as inexpensively as possible) Relaxing Andddd.. did I mention relaxing? haha A Beach city would be ideal. Resolved Question: I'm planning a vacation to Orlando, Florida.?

I'm going to Orlando in August with my sister, just the 2 of us, and we are not sure which way is the cheapest way. We want to go to: The beaches Disney World Sea World Universal Studios + Many other attractions in Orlando. Would it be cheaper to go with a travel agency? hi! my anniversary is coming up in april and my boyfriend and i want to come to florida for about 3 nites. we want a hotel on or very close to a beach and a hotel that we could walk to a little village with bars, restaurants where you can eat outside and some shops to buy like souveneirs or whatever. also something on the cheaper side would help. we dont have a crazy amount of money just want to spend a few romantic nites together. your info is appreciated thank you! more

Am I missing something? I'll still have access to the HP World with the above package, right? Why the difference in cost, when cheaper grants 4 days and the more expensive 3? Resolved Question: Where in Florida are the cheapest coastal towns for vacations?

I'm trying to plan a vacation for spring break next month. I don't wanna go to the typical spring break towns really. And all I'm wanting is a nice beach to go to, preferably on the gulf side. We'll probably be driving so just a hotel would be needed. Any suggestions? :) I've been to St. Pete and I loved it.PLUS, I'll be with at least my boyfriend. and he has never seen the ocean. so ridic. more
