Open Question: Is Brugges worth a day trip from Paris?
How do you spell this beautiful city {lol}? Even spell ck provided no option for correct spelling. Anyway, my sister went there "Brugges" in Belgium and raved abt how beautiful it was. So if you've traveled around Europe, you'll know which city {or little town} I'm referring to. Should we just spend all our time in Paris for a 2 week vacation? Or is it worth the effort to get back to the airport and fly to Brugges for a day trip? {saw it advertised and thought it was interesting} thx moreOpen Question: Where is a good place for a guy in his early 30's to have an awesome time?
I have been lucky enough to travel all over europe and south America with my Job. In my off time, I have visited many locations as well. I'm a guy who likes to travel and have fun! I'm planning another trip and I can't decide whether I should go back to Pattaya (by FAR my favorite place on EARTH.) or somewhere else. here are my choices: Pattaya, Thailand (I've been here before and I'm leaning toward returning... If I could afford it, I would retire there tomorrow) Phnom Penh (never been) Tijuana, Mexico (never been) butam, indonesia (never been) Rio, Brazil (never been) Angeles City, Philippines (never been) my question is this: Do I stick with going to a place that I know is awesome (Pattaya) or do I venture out and try something new? I was wondering if I should go back to Pattaya again or should I go to one of these other places for a change. also, If anyone can suggest any other places, I would welcome any recomendations and input. keep in mind, however, that i'm not interested in visiting anywhere boring and that my idea of a fun vacation definitely is NOTmuseums old churches, temples, museaums, ruins, or old castles.ok, I'm not really into beaches, scenery, vistas or peaceful serenity. I'm more into nightlife and partying.Thanl you so much for your response! I really appreciate that you took the time to answer. honestly, I don't find "serene ambiance" anywhere near as soothing as a sensual massage. Many places that others would describe as soothing are places that I would consider somewhat boring. I'm looking for an exciting vacation. there are many beautiful places in America with really nice scenery, but my favorite place in America is Las Vegas even though there is not that much scenery. I prefer las Vegas over hawaii, for example because Vegas is more fun and exciting for me. moreOpen Question: What is coverage repatriation ? I am trying to take a vacation cruise to Europe.?

Choose a city in a foreign country OTHER than North America (ie Europe, Asia, etc.). Once you have chosen your city, look up the cost of a flight to get from Kansas City to the city you chose (be sure to list the airline, flight numbers and times). Decide how long you are going to be gone before you look at a flight. Then, find a hotel in the city of your choice. Tell me everything I would need to know about the hotel (name, address, phone number), what kind of room you are getting, the amenities in each room, how many nights you'll be staying, and whatever else is important to know. Then, research all of the different kinds of activities you can do in/around the city - museums, parks, adventures, boating, skiing, fishing, snorkeling, etc. Don't forget to list the price of your activities. Make sure you include a rental car for your travels around the city, how much will that be per day and for however long you are gone, what type of car are you going to get and who is your rental car through? You're given only $5,000 for your vacation, so spend it wisely. Have fun vacationing! :) moreVoting Question: Amex cc: Why was I only approved for $2000?
I just applied for "Blue from american express" that I plan to use when I travel to Europe this summer for 3 weeks. I was approved within 5 seconds for only $2000. I monitor my credit monthly with a credit service and my 3 credit scores are in the 707-730 ranges, annual Salary >50K, current debt is less than 5% of available, my reported length of credit experience is over 10 years. Is this amount for a credit line normal in this economy or is two grand considered a high credit limit? I am a novice to international traveling and would appreciate some help from those who have traveled through Europe. I'd like to plan a trip that would entail landing in Venice, then journeying perhaps by train over to Switzerland, Paris and end up flying back to America from London. Can anyone give me a little insight into what I should expect as far as prices for traveling from country to country, approximate time it would take to travel this way around Europe, as well as the best way to see as many countries as possible while I'm over there. I'm sorry if my question is too vague, but I'm completely unfamiliar with planning such a trip that would involve journeying through several different countries, and I'd really appreciate any tips from any experienced travelers who have vacationed in Europe before. moreResolved Question: How much does Spanish-latin amercan and Spanish-spain differ?
I notice when chosing Spanish as the language I wanted to learn on Rosetta stone that I had a choice between paying for the Spanish/Latin Amercan disc or the Spanish/Spain disc...they were both the same price but completely different expensive products. How much do they differ? very little I assume...?...? Please advise. For example, how much trouble would a Mexican have communicating freely and confidently in Spain with the locals if that Mexican were to travel to Spain in Europe on vacation? Would he be able to communicate as well as an american that traveled to England? Or is this a bad example? Please tell me some differences between latin American spanish and Spain spanish...with examples. Thank you very much for your time; Perry in FL I am currently trying to learn Espanol using the latin american version of the Rosetta stone cd's How much do these languages differe from each other? very little I assume....maybe mostly only the slang? Please advise. Do they mostly differ in words, syntax, or both...or very very little? I would have thought very little until I saw that I had to choose between spending three hundred dollars to learn Spanish/latin Amercan or spend the $399 for the Spain version....WTF?? Thanks again Would a person from one easily be able to commincate with a person from the other? A Spaniard visiting Mexico and vice-versa.....what are some examples of any differences? moreResolved Question: About how much in US $ would it cost to travel to all the concentration camp sites in Europe?

Recommended or not?
I recently got married. My wife and I are in our early 30s. We have never been to Europe and have been contemplating going on a tour. Contiki tours offers a 47 day ultimate European tour. We finally have enough money and vacation days saved to go on a trip like that. We are looking to get some feedback, insights, views & recommendations on this trip. Or if there are other trips that are perhaps better suited. We are not looking to spend a gazillion dollars. Contiki has reasonable prices but we are not sure what to expect on a trip with Contiki. My boyfriend and I want to vacation during May-June time to the Caribbeans for about 4-7 days. I've only traveled to Europe so I don't know much about the Caribbeans and we aren't sure of where to go at all. Are cruises cheaper for two people? or is flying to an island and renting a hotel room cheaper? I'm looking for an area that has beautiful clear beaches with lots to do such as snorkeling and a good venue of things to do (good restaurants, clubs, bars). I am also on a budget so I'm looking for a cheap or fairly priced area as I am still in college and only 19. Which brings up another issue of somewhere I can possibly drink as well? I've heard Providenciales of Turks and Caicos is very nice, but I've heard a million other places are very nice as well.. Websites with cheap but good hotels or deals will be a great deal of help! moreResolved Question: It's 2010, why are some Europeaners still so focused on skin color?
I know what you're thinking, not another "is Europe racist" question on YA. I apologize in advance, but I feel my question is coming from a rather unique viewpoint. I'm a member of the US military currently stationed in Southern Italy far away from any major US military installations which means I've had to integrate somewhat into my surroundings. As a 6'2, dark skinned black American this has not been easy. A few of my friends here are into Western culture and instantly recognized I wasn't African and were really friendly and helpful in showing me around and welcoming me into their social circles despite the language barrier. Others I assume see black skin and either become fearful or enraged for some odd reason. Women grip their purses despite me having thousands of Euros on my person at any given time due to a problem with my bank. Men puff out their chest and attempt to stare me down with no provocation whatsoever on my part. Children point and stare...I've even had vacationing couples in Amalfi come up and ask to take a picture with me like I was a circus attraction! I'm a strong person, mentally and physically but some days you're just not mentally prepared to be stared down by everyone you encounter. I've done some traveling and the only countries I wasn't really payed any attention to were Belgium and Germany which I think might have to do with BE's EU capital status and DE's large US presence. Every elsee else I felt myself coming close to shouting to everyone to stop f*****g staring at me! The only thing that keeps me sane is knowing that I'm somewhat of a diplomat for other Black Americans and that my actions will be what these people base their thoughs around concering all of us. I can't let them down. At the end of the day, this is all lightweight racism compared to what Black Americans experience back home. I guess I just had higher hopes for Europe. With all their history and with such a young and fresh Union, I thought trivial things such as race would be a thing of the past or an American thing. My question, why are so many Europeans still so fixated on skin color? I've always dreamed of one day retiring in some far away country and living out my last days in peace, speaking one of the romance languages and just living life. My time here is showing me that my dream is probably going to only remain a dream. Lastly, the most heartbreaking thing for me is when I go somewhere and I'm ignored or I'm stared at strangely until I say something in English or broken Italian and they realize I'm American. Their response is always "Oh, I thought you were an African". What if I was from Africa? I wouldn't be able to eat here? I understand the immigration woes but this is despicable behavior in my opinion. We're all human, we have to get over this racial divide. Sincerely, YNS moreResolved Question: Witch kind of transportation in better to use in Paris ?

My daughter is only 14 years old, And a freshman in highschool. She wants to go to paris, by herself, with other teenagers and some counselers. I think she is way to young, she should be doing that stuff when shes in college. She only has 3 years left with her family she should be spending every moment with them. I'm offering to take my husband, my other daughter, and the one daughter who wants to go to paris, all on vacation to europe. My daughter is upset that i wont just let her go on the program and is complaining that she wont see half the things she would see if our family went. she says she's going to get a job and make as much as she can, to go on this trip and put the money for it. But either way shes wasting her time im not letting her go. She wouldn't appreciate it the way she would in college. When i told her this, she said this to me "Mom, I'm not just another teenager, i dont spend my days asking for new computers, or new phone services, and i dnt just spend every day at the mall, texting my friends. No, I love my polaroid camera, and writting letters, and i love days at the park. You cant tell me i wouldnt appreciate this, because i've spent months trying to find a program like this, and most teenagers would just give up after the first page of google, also if i were too young, the program would be for ages 15-18, and i'm turning 15 this year, 4 months after the program. I wont be any different 4 months from now." Do you think shes too young or not? This isn't with her school, it's just a program for teenagers to travel. it's legit i've checked it out, but still. It's not that she isnt mature, because none of her friends are going, and it's more about seeing museums, and gallerys and foods and what not. But she is 14. i dont care how mature she is. shes 14. moreResolved Question: HOW DO I OPEN A SWISS BANK ACCOUNT?

To Paris travel, weather is relatively unimportant factor. Paris Four Seasons mild climate, the summer maximum temperature rarely exceeds 25 ℃, the lowest winter temperatures are usually above 0 ℃. Comparing the distribution of precipitation a year on average, every month there are at least 1 / 3 or more days will be rain, carry an umbrella is necessary. For shopaholics alike, in January and June is the season of Paris's most charming, apparel retail seasonal uniform changes at this time going on sale, discounts as low as unthinkable. Beginning of the year on sale date is in January, and Wednesday the second week in June in the third week of Wednesday, we planned to visit, but also a quasi-time. July-August, the whole of Europe are in a leave status, Parisians are also busy vacation, the city give the influx of tourists. But by that time the summer music festival, the Seine beach, moonlight, the festival is also fully reflected in Paris, a romantic temperament. Each year in September next year's performances in Paris in April is the season, the Paris Opera House almost every night, high standards of concerts and theatrical performances; from October to November is the art of the season, large and small art gallery will launch exciting theme exhibitions. Art lovers If you happen to come to Paris at this time will definitely be a big headache for how the trade-offs. Such a calculation, almost no low season for tourism throughout the year in Paris at all. If you just want to quietly taste of Paris for a long time to linger in the museum, in May is probably the best choice. moreResolved Question: If Janet Napolitano says the system works in latest terrorists attacks of that plane is this the same system?
If Janet Napolitano says the system works in latest terrorists attacks of that plane is this the same system Her and Obama have regarding the Mexico border the system works ? Even though Janet Napolitano claims of her assertion that crossing the border illegally “isn’t a crime per se”, to her boneheaded claim that 9/11 terrorists came in through the Canadian border. Obama off in his $ 4.000 a day vacation home he is unable to keep America safe and lacks the experience .We are suppose to believe these same two people know anything about the border, illegals, when they say the system worked....What we are focused on is making sure that the air environment remains safe, that people are confident when they travel. And one thing I’d like to point out is that the system worked. Everybody played an important role here. The passengers and crew of the flight took appropriate action. Within literally an hour to 90 minutes of the incident occurring, all 128 flights in the air had been notified to take some special measures in light of what had occurred on the Northwest Airlines flight. We instituted new measures on the ground and at screening areas, both here in the United States and in Europe, where this flight originated. So the whole process of making sure that we respond properly, correctly and effectively went very smoothly. The sad facts are; - 2 Muslims (not White vets in militia groups) have attempted terrorist atrocities upon Americans contrary to the cooked up story JaNo and the Obama regime foisted America with their original “returning vets joining militia” warnings. - 13 innocents died at Fort Hood because the system failed. - 277 innocents on a NWA jet over Detroit are alive only due to sheer luck and stand as evidence of yet another example of this Obama regime’s failures to protect Americans. Obama and JaNo have their eyes “focused like laser-beams” on the wrong targets…and we’ve 3 more years of risk under this incompetent Obama regime. moreResolved Question: The different ways of traveling after college?
I will be graduating from college in August of 2010 and I am looking into different travel ideas. Eventually I will be settling down into a career here in Canada, but before I do that, I want to travel a little bit. I am looking for any other options other than your typical vacation (ie. Plane trip, stay in a hotel, do the tourist attractions, go home). I am open to anywhere in the world; however, my interests lie with Europe, or third-world nations who need help. I've heard of many options such as backpacking, volunteering, etc. - so, please, just throw out your solid ideas, or own experiences - it would be great! Thanks so much! moreResolved Question: Scared to go on vacation?
I have been traveling my whole life, I've been to all 50 states and most of Europe. I am very scared and hate sleeping anywhere besides my own bed. I don't feel safe and I hate being without my boyfriend! I don't know what to do, I'm on vacation right now and I feel like I'm not going to be able to live through this. Going on vacation stresses me out and I really don't know what to do now. Any suggestions? Thanks moreResolved Question: Anyone have any travel ideas for August?
Ok, so I got suckered (kinda) into a timeshare with RCI. I can stay in Cancun, Cabo, or Domincan Republic for 3 weeks out of the year (for 26 years).... but I also get points with RCI for extra vacations. It's a pretty good deal, but I am having trouble on deciding where to go. My girlfriend and some other friends are in college, so they can only go on vacation around mid December/ January. Or in July and August. I want a place to go with my friends. None of us have very much money, but essentially the hotel would be paid for by me, so the only thing we have to worry about is airfare... Europe is probably out of the question for now... although I would like to go back some day. We are from the San Francisco area if that helps anyone. I'm tired of San Francisco, L.A. and Las Vegas. Personally, I like relaxing vacations, like staying at a resort.... When I type in Hawaii, I can only find places to stay at Kapaa, Kailua-Kona, Koloa, Lihue, and Princeville. I've never been to Hawaii, so I don't know if any of these places are worth going to.... or where the better areas are. moreResolved Question: Where should I go for vacation?
I'm graduating from university in May and after having worked my ass off for four years, I think I've earned a vacation. I've saved up enough money for the flight and about two weeks of travel and plan to go in July or August of 2010. Now I just need someone to help me decide where! I lived/studied abroad in France, Germany and Slovenia, and have had the pleasure of visiting Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Monaco (I'd gladly visit any of these again!). I love Europe, but I'll definitely entertain other continents. Thanks for helping me out!NB: I was born and raised in Minnesota. I don't wanna vacation in the Midwest, or really in the US. Or am I selfish to want to move her away from grandparents, father and everyone else? I am planning to take a vacation to Amsterdam. I know that Amsterdam is in europe but I am not sure what country. I am planning to stay there for a few months. I heard that is isn't possible for Americans to work there but my source was not very reliable. I will need to have a job that pays decently. I will be going with at least 1 other person to split the rent and can have more come if necessary. When is the cheapest time to travel from New York state in the United States to Amsterdam? What do I have to do before I can travel to Amsterdam? How much would a flight to amsterdam cost? Is Amsterdam a safe city? What forms of income can an american get while living in Amsterdam? Where should I stay that is cheap, safe, private, and clean for a few months? What is the cheapest way to eat in Amsterdam. Are there any food to avoid in Amsterdam like how people say to avoid beef in parts of europe? What are some important laws to remember in Amsterdam? How much does a flight from amsterdam to new york state cost? What transportation is cheap and effictive incase I am a long distance from hash bars and employment? What drugs are legal in Amsterdam? Can things like glass pipes or bongs be brought back to the united states? Any other help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you. moreVoting Question: NEED HELP choosing career path!?
My mind is always changing! I really want to go into film. Im saving up for a really good camera right now. I think its kinda pointless to go to film school. Both my friends went to 2 different film schools and apart from a little extra knowledge we are basically still at the same level. I actually seem more motivated to get into film than one of my friends who just graduated The other option is to get my science courses finished on time and apply for paramedics course in college, 2 year course. I have developed in interest in Paramedics ever since I started CPR and first Aid lessons. And im used to working grave yard shifts. I hear good things about working in Paramedics in Toronto, like the starting pay is close to $30/hr and you work 4 days get 3 days off or work 5 days and get 4 days off. But also I like travelling and I hate Canada winters, so if I always wanna take like 1-2 months travelling like every year, I cant do that with a stable job like paramedic right, will they let me take long non-paid vacations, then come back to work ? I'd like to stay in Tuscany but make 2 day trip to Rome. I'm from the U.S.?
I am thinking of taking a vacation mid June. The vacation will be 8 days long with travel to and from the US. so basically 6 days in Italy. I'd really like to just enjoy the area rather than site see. We are more concerned with wine and food tasting and relaxing. I don't want to be in the city, I want to be surrounded by nature if at all possible. My husband is actually in Iraq currently and when he returns this is a short romantic trip that we want to take together to sort of reconnect. So relaxing and romance is key. But we'd like to take 1 day to see Rome. There's just so much there that seams so beautiful and interesting that we can't miss it if we go all the way to Italy. So can you rent cars or would a bus be our only option? Are there any secluded lush vinyard like areas with hotels any closer to Rome then Tuscany? Thanks for your advice! Thanks so much for that info! We'll need an automatic, I sure hope it doesn't limit us but due to being unable to bend my left knee (disability) I can't drive a stick shift... Of course my husband could drive but I'd love for him to be able to see the sites sometimes too. - As for the drinking, no worries we won't be drinking and then driving. We are going to see about staying at a B&B located at a winery so that if we do get a little toasted we can just walk to our room and sleep it off. Thanks for the advice though! The AAA advice is awesome. We would have never thought of that! moreResolved Question: VERY DISTRAUGHT! Is there anything I can do to keep her?
Me and this girl are in love with each other. Let me clarify firstly that it is a LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP. Shes 22, I am 20. We've been dating 4 years, we live overseas apart from each other (She's in Ireland, I'm from the U.S) but have seen each other a few times for long 1-3 month visits. I proposed to her the first year in our relationship, we planned to have kids and start a life together. I've put college on hold since I've pursued business on the internet, but also so I could be around her. I tried offering me putting up money to travel and use couchsurfing.org to go on a vacation together backpacking through Europe yet she insists she wants a "normal relationship". She wants to have a child early, she wants to move in with a guy because all her friends are. She feels lonely and told me she wants "Physical contact". I love this girl and if I had the money I'd make a habit of flying over and seeing her more often. I do want to marry her and want all these things with her but insists she can't wait and wants to "move on." We made so many plans and care about each other so much. Is there anything to salvage this? moreResolved Question: I don't think my daughter should be allowed to travel abroad to stay with a boyfriend?
hi...thank you in advance for your replies....I have a 20 year old daughter that met a boy 3 years ago while on a summer vacation on an island close to home (we live in the states). He was here working for the summer only, and was to return to Europe when the summer ended, which he did. Anyway, fast forward 3 years, they are still "in a relationship" long distance, via web cam, and telephone. Personally, I think it is a silly situation, as he is unable to move here, and she is unable to move there. She did go visit him last Christmas against my wishes, but I trust her, and she really made me feel secure that she would be ok..after all, she was over 18....I know now that it was a mistake to let her go. I have nothing against her boyfriend...he is a very nice guy, it's just that he's too far away for anything to develop, and she cannot expect to travel overseas every christmas. I should not have let her go in the first place, as I have set a very bad precedent. Now I don't want her to go this second time. She is still living at home, is a student, and works part time....she doesn't spend any of her money to help with her expenses, such as her car payment, insurance, health insurance, or living expenses....she saves every penny for her yearly trip to europe. I think she should be saving for school and her future....what do you all think? I know I am going to get a lot of slack from posters regarding her trip last year, but we have a very understanding and close relationship..I do trust her completely, it's just the rest of the world that I don't trust. I want her to expand her options, and try to date someone who lives locally, so that she can enjoy her youth, and share experiences with someone all the time, not just 2 weeks a year. She stays home when she's not at school or work, and has no social life....she's a smart, funny, and beautiful young woman, and I feel as though she is selling herself short.....would you all let your 20 year old travel to Europe alone to stay with a boy? moreResolved Question: How do I find and pick a travel agent?
I'm looking to take a vacation in June, I live in Central Texas. I'm looking to either go to St. Lucia or possibly tour Europe though I'm also open to suggestions. I want to go somewhere lush but not 100% beachy, we don't enjoy water sports of any kind. I've never gone on an international vacation before. My husband is in Iraq and coming home either at the end of May or beginning of June. We're looking to spend around $7500 total on a 1-2 week vacation. I don't know how to arrange it all. I know we'll need passports which I'm going to get for myself next month. I don't really know what else is needed and fear if I set everything up on my own I'll run into problems. Thanks for your advice!Thank you but my husband is a contractor and works with the military but doesn't really associate much with the soldiers. Besides, all of the soldiers he works with are in their very early 20's.. Most soldiers that young can't afford to travel anywhere the army doesn't send them. We don't know anyone who's traveled internationally to anywhere their job hasn't sent them except for Mexico and we've been there, we'd like to go somewhere more exotic. Good Ideas though, keep'em coming! Thanks! moreResolved Question: I'm travelling overseas and am concerned about my daily birth control?
i take the pill at 9pm every night. I will be vacationing for 2 weeks in Europe (England and France which has a 6 hour and a 7 hour difference, which will make it for 4am/5am everyday) Do I take the pill at my original US time, or should I try to change my time now that I've just started a new pack? (I'm taking the 3rd pill tonight) moreResolved Question: What are the cheapest European destinations?
I'm looking forward to having a great vacation. Never been to Europe, but I think its really great. I want to spend my vacation there but heard its really expensive specially in Madrid. Any suggestions? I will be travelling with my girlfriend so we prefer quiet and serene places. moreResolved Question: Is somebody willing to buy me an airplane ticket and pay for the expenses of that trip?
I really need some vacations, I work my ass off and still have nothing to travel. So just letting fly this question in case some bored millionaire takes pity on me and admires my boldness. The trip would be to Europe and I won't spend that much since it would be a backpacking trip and stay in hostels. moreResolved Question: I would like to plan a vacation to Europe/Africa/Dubai with a group?

saving up money to do a european vacation culminating in enjoying mediterainian beaches in italy. So, what I was going to do was take a direct flight across the pond to london and then take the eurostar to Zurich staying overnight then taking the highspeed through the alps down into Milan connecting to a train heading towards Rome and Naples and then thinking of Ischia and Sardinia. The train would be amazing as I've never been to europe and the countryside and mountains would be amazing. The only thing is that you can fly with Ryan air so cheaply that it is tempting to just fly. Anybody ever do both and have an opinion either way? moreResolved Question: Traveling to Bulgaria and Romania?
Okay, so me and my fiance decided to go to a vacation in Europe. We already visited Greece and Turkey, next on our list are Bulgaria and Romania. What are your opinions on these countries and what cities should we visit. If you are local-even better. moreResolved Question: Want to take a vacation with boyfriend. I feel like he isn't trying to consider me. Frustrated?
I have been with my boyfriend for almost a year & a half. I'm 30 and he is in his mid 40s. He has 3 teenaged kids from a previous marriage that he has every other weekend. He has a good job where he makes a good living. He travels internationally with his job and is usually gone on about one trip a month (sometimes more) where he is gone for abt a week. Sometimes I don't see him for a week or two because of his job and family obligations. I don't mind because I like having time to spend with my friends and I'm also in grad school so I am pretty busy with that. Since we've been together we have gone on a couple weekend trips. Once I met him at a location in the US when he was there for business. Another time we took a long weekend to Florida (drove there). Neither trip I was especially excited about going on. The weekend trip that I met him on his business trip we only really got to spend Saturday together as he was busy with work Friday and Sunday we had to travel home. The Florida trip he loved but I didn't love so much. I prefer to go on vacation and do something other then lay on the beach. His kids also just happened to be in town with his ex that weekend so he had them for one of the days we were there. Before we decided to go on that trip we had been talking about going to the Carribean or a cruise instead which I really wanted to do but that somehow got pushed aside for the Florida trip instead. He gets 2 weeks vacation with work and he takes one in the summer to take his kids somewhere and one at Christmastime. I can understand him wanting to do this but I'm really starting to get frusterated because I really want to travel and I want to share this with someone. I work hard at my job and my school and want to travel a bit. I have friends that take vacation to places like Mexico or Europe with their boyfriends. I want that too. I've discussed this with him before. Now he has planned a vacation to go skiing over the holidays with his son. My boyfriends friend and his girlfriend are also planning to go. He wants me to come with him to be with him on this trip. I don't ski and the ski hill that they are going doesn't have anything outside of skiing. No shops no nightlife ... nothing. It would be incredibly boring for me. I'm getting pretty frusterated and resentful with this. I know he has family obligations that I don't have and I can understand that. But I feel like he needs to consider my needs and feelings to and if he wants to be with me he may have to work harder to make me part of his plans and life. AND be part of my life. Not just have me fit in there where it suits him. I want to talk to him about this. Any advice???? moreResolved Question: Want to take a vacation with boyfriend. I travel quite often, always have. My family has always taken me to the Caribbeans, europe, the states. Never an issue. I go more so now that I am in my early 20's with my friends, boyfriends (whom ever i am seeing at the time) and still with family. As a career, Im not fully established but ive gone to school for hair, makeup and as of right now I do acting and modelling here and there (off and on). My first time being pulled aside for interrogation was the beginning of 2009. I was flying to Las vegas with a girlfriend, who is also a part time model, to meet up with our boyfriends for a few days (they live in Canada also but were vacationing there and missed us,so flew us in last minute) u.s customs asked us a bunch of questions. At the time I was doing bottle service at a club, she had some club gig too and neither of us were modelling. I had my extensions out and was a bit heavier at the time. We stated our club jobs and went on our way, while leaving they stopped sarah and asked if she was a model, and I dunno what she said but they pulled her and I back in for more questioning. They found information that proved we had done a few magazines and I, a few movies (but all work in canada). Basically they called her a liar and myself too because we didn't state that we had modelled in the past. I did not know you had to inform them of every job you have had.I informed them I am not modelling at the moment, hence my my extensions are out etc and I just finished makeup school and am just figuring things out. After more questions they finally let us go but informed us that they didn't have to. Now I model and act off and on still, but do not have an agent. Since the last time I have been stopped every time I go to the states.I went to vegas right after to meet a friend there then flew from vegas to LA to visit friends there and came home. Then I went to philly to watch the ufc fights. Now Im back with my ex bf who plays baseball professionally and he is an american citizen and I went to see him on the road, while he was playing in the states and before i flew out the officer interrogated me for hours. Each time i travel its been the same song and dance. Finger prints, questions, searching my bags and asking if I am going to work in the states. The baseball player (my bf's name shows up as who paid for my ticket, its obvious im not lying cuz his team is playing whereever im travelling but this specific time the officer gave me a ten day limit in the states and told me if im not back before then, im in very big trouble. When I ask why this happens, they dont tell me and when I asked about my ten day limit they did not give reason. Now you have to understand before i tell you the next part, I am a nervous nelly and all the questions and hours of bullying (they're not very nice), and threats that they have the power to not allowing me to go makes me upset/stressed that by the time im done, i end up chocked up and cry. The last time, once i passed the gates my cell phone rang, it was a hang up call for us customs, my heart raced and i got upset like they changed their minds their not going to let me go. Then they called back and the same officer who interrogated me started quizzing me again and wouldn't state his name but asked if i knew who it was and i said yes. He basically asked when Id be returning, then asked if he could call me when i returned, i tried to dodge it or ignore him cuz i didn't wanna say yes but he was persistent.I kept asking if it was even legal for him to ask me this and then stated i am going to see the guy im seeing in the states and he claimed he too was in a relationship and it would just be to talk or go for coffee, i finally said yes because i feared if i refused he would put something horrible in my file so i could never enter the states again or pull me back in for more questioning. I felt so bullied and harassed after that, I dread the idea of ever having to go through this again. I fly out again to see my boyfriend, he again paid for the ticket so his name will be on file, which is good for proof that im not going to work in the states but I know at the drop of a dime if an officer feels like it he can just "decide" not to let me go just like the last officer "decided" to give me a 10 day limit. I need to know what i can do to put a stop to this. I feel I am being bullied, discriminated against for being a model, and now having my rights, as a canadian citizen, stripped away, as well as being harassed sexually and feeling bullied into saying yes. This has become a huge issue, especially seeing that I have never done anything wrong, hidden or lied about a thing and my boyfriend, who i love very much, is an american citizen so my travels there will be much more frequent. Please someone advise me on what to do. I am so sorry for the huge "detail" section but did not wanna leave anything out. Thank you so much for your time.but david, as a side bar.. they did give me a ten day limit last time, so im not huffing and puffing over nothing, im just upset that it could effect my time with the one i lovehaha thanks.. as i stated in there, im a nervous nelly.. so i guess you could say im a "drama queen' i get upset easily. Im sensitive moreVoting Question: What do you think of this FIT admissions essay?
honest opinions would be appreciated! do i make it way too personal with my eating struggles, should i take that part out?? thanks! Ever since I was a little girl I have been very determined person. I have always been sure of what I want, refusing to listen to anyone telling me that my dreams were unattainable. From the age of three telling my mother I “wouldn’t be caught dead in that outfit,” to wearing princess dresses to daycare because I wanted to stand out, fashion has always been my form of expression. I am positive that a career in fashion is what I want, and what I am destined to pursue. I find fashion so interesting and exciting, but it is also so much more than that. I once heard someone say “clothes are only clothes? clothes are what separate humans from animals,” and it stuck with me. In a way, its true. The clothes we wear allow us express ourselves and make an impression on the rest of the world. I grew up in St. John‘s, Newfoundland. Although a popular impression of Newfoundlanders, along with doing nothing but drink all day and night, is that our wardrobe consists of Eskimo furs and rubber boots. I can assure you that this is not the case. While we don’t have four story malls or shopping centers, I enjoy having to look a little harder to find pieces to mix and match to create my own style. As much as I love Newfoundland, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move to Europe for several years as a child. It was such an amazing experience to grow up learning about so many different cultures and to grow accustomed to thousands of varying styles and fashions. Although I didn’t know it at the time, all of the trips and vacations crammed into our three years overseas are what ignited my passion for fashion and my eye for style. Visiting fashion capitals such as paris, rome and london, and even small villages and towns along the way made for incredible inspiration. I began drawing sketches of my own clothing, and became interested in how all the stores pick the perfect clothes for customers with so many varying styles and tastes. Fashion is what I remember the most vividly in Europe. I remember walking along the distinctive red brick streets of the town centers, gazing in the windows of shops so different from here in Canada. They had what to me looked like these beautiful and original creations, but were the norm for the country. Everyone sees fashion in their own way. What’s so amazing about travelling and experiencing different cultures, is how you can gather ideas and inspirations from everything you see. From there, creating something completely innovative and original. That is what I adore about fashion, no two people wear a piece of clothing the same way. You take fashion, and make it your own. Moving back home from Europe was a difficult adjustment. I began second guessing my newfound style and expressive attitude. My self esteem plummeted, resulting in an eating disorder as a way to manage the stress. So throughout junior and senior high school I used clothing as more of a way to hide my body than as a way to project my personality. I hate to admit it now, but my eating disorder took over most parts of my life. It came before school, work, fun, friends, and fashion. This was all I could concentrate on and I allowed my dreams to fade away. In my senior year of high school, I decided to look up design schools, and came across the fashion institute of technology website. Pursuing my dream of a career in fashion and marketing was something I had long ago convinced myself was unattainable. I scanned through every single page on your site, and I knew it was a perfect fit. I decided it was time to take my life back and go after something for myself. So after spending time in and out of hospital, and countless doctors appointments, I am finally managing to get my life back on track. School was never something I had much trouble with, but my grades have suffered for the amount of school I missed. That being said, I never give up, and I feel closer each and every day to bringing my grades up again. It’s been difficult, but I stop and imagine myself as a FIT student next fall and I keep going. I haven’t always been a perfect student, but I am willing to try harder than I ever have before to make my dream come true. I used to see clothes as a way to make all people beautiful. I used to see clothes as a way people told the story of who they are. Now, I am able to see that again, and I wont let that vision disappear for a second. Fashion is a tool, a technology that enables people to be their best. Clothes, shoes and accessories are to me as Monet or Van Gogh may be to an artist. fashion is my inspiration. Attending FIT and pursuing a career in fashion is my dream. If given the opportunity, I will stop at nothing to excel in the Fashion Merchandising Management program, and be a great contribution to the Fashion Institute of Technology. moreTop Europe Travel Vacation Links
