Florida Beach Vacation Questions asked
Resolved Question: Cheap Puerto Rico Vacations?
I have a family of 6, and we normally pull a cheap vacation to Florida every year. This year is my daughter's senior year & this will be one of our last vacations together for a long time. I heard a co-worker talking about how her and her husband went to Puerto Rico and went to one of the top 10 beaches in the world. I was wondering if anyone knew about vacation trips to Puerto Rico, good houses to rent while there, costs of the trip, and places to go. Thanks! moreOpen Question: best florida spring break spot?

I'm going on vacation in Florida and would like to visit some gay hot-spots in the Orlando area. Especially gay beaches. Does anyone know of places they can recommend? Thanks. moreResolved Question: have liberals finally stopped preaching the lie that the bush family took more vacations than the obama family?
FYI- the obama 10 day martha vineyard vacation starts today, after the florida beach vacation last week and the michelle first class spain vacation with her daughter while borack was in chicago partying up with his boys. moreVoting Question: Where should I buy a vacation condo in FL (what city do you like the most and why)?
I'm thinking of buying a condo in Florida, but I'm still deciding where to buy it. I want to buy it in a family friendly town with low crime rates (we have two small kids). Any suggestions from locals living in Florida? P.S. The town doesn't have to be on a beach, but I want to commute no more than 20 minutes in order to get to a beach. moreResolved Question: Is it normal for me to feel depressed after a vacation?
I haven't been on a vacation since 2006. Living in Miami, I decided to spend two days at the Florida Keys (about 125 miles south). The first day was getting used to the place we stayed (Marathon) at which I had mixed feelings... However, the night sky was just beyond words.... And the second day was just awesome because I actually visited Key West... The checkout day (this morning 8/17) is when I started feeling depressed. I guess I loved it even though I had mixed feelings about the place I stayed... Now back in Miami, I feel depressed especially looking at the night sky... I wish I would be able to walk on the beach again... Is depression after a trip normal? Any way(s) to get rid of it? moreResolved Question: What fun family activities are the Obamas going to do in their 27 hours in Florida on the Gulf?
Are they going to close a beach and take the girls swimming? Is Michelle Antoinette going to have any of her 40 close friends meet her there? http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2010/08/obamas_27hour_gulf_vacation.html From scheduled arrival of Air Force One Saturday to the time it departs on Sunday, the Obamas will have spent 26 hours and 50 minutes on the ground in the Panama City area. moreResolved Question: What is your opinion about the Obamas going to the Gulf for a "vacation"?
Do you think this trip to the Gulf is an attempt to do damage control over the highly criticized trip to Spain and is just a PR stunt? Some people are going to answer that she's a private citizen and can travel wherever she wants to. However, she's not a private citizen. She's the First Lady of the United States. What are your opinions on the Obamas and the decisions they're making during a Recession that many of us are still struggling through. Thanks. President Obama is taking his family to Florida's Gulf Coast this weekend in what the White House is billing as a show of support for the region's struggling businesses after the BP oil spill. The president, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia are scheduled to travel Saturday to Panama City, a popular tourist spot that has seen a huge drop in visitors this summer after tar balls from the oil spill washed ashore. Last month, the first lady traveled to the city in a bid to boost visitor traffic, calling the beaches there "pristine." "Everybody should come!" she urged. But the First Family won't actually spend much time in the region. According to the White House, the Obamas will spend roughly 27 hours on the ground in Panama City -- far less than they have on other vacation jaunts this summer. All told, this will be the seventh vacation that the first lady has taken this summer. Last week, Michelle Obama came under fire for a four-day trip she took to Spain with Sasha and several friends. The White House has said she took the trip to comfort a grieving friend. moreResolved Question: suggestions for Florida's east coast beaches - family vacation?
We're planning our family vacation for March 2011, and want to go to an east coast Florida beach. What are the nicest, most relaxing ones? We're a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, and are looking for a relaxing, easy-going vacation along the Florida coast with beautiful, blue water and beaches with medium crowds. Did Disney last year, had a blast, but just want to relax this year and enjoy the cool ocean breezes. Prefer to do a beach on the Gulf coast part of the state, but it seems like the oil spill may have reached there already. Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Do you hope Obama and family enjoy their vacation, again?
There they go again. For the fifth time since July, the first family has set plans to board Air Force One for a frilly vacation, a 10-day return trip to exclusive Martha's Vineyard where they are expected to stay at the 28-acre oceanfront Blue Heron Farm that rents for up to $50,000 a week. But first the Obamas will be traveling to the Gulf Coast of Florida for a mini-vacation as a way to encourage other vacationing Americans to head to the beaches that have been shunned by tourists worried about oil-slicked sands due to the Gulf oil spill. moreResolved Question: Are requests for donations starting to seem selfish to anyone else?
I don't know about you, but it seems that every day I get email requests for money. More often than not, they seem like worthy causes, or at least legitimate requests, but I don't have enough disposable income to shell out hundreds of dollars per year. Often, it's inanimate organizations (my college, a nonprofit or political party) that I support when I can. But recently, I've actually gotten requests from friends (example below). It's this last one, friends, that troubles me. I have no problem ignoring some of the inanimate organizations that send requests if I don't have the money. But it's hard to say no to a friend who's asking because her children are taking part in fundraising drives. This last friend described how one son is doing some sort of "ride for cancer," and the other is fundraising for a sports team he's on, and donations help offset their costs as parents. I think both causes are laudable, but I also know their family has a two incomes, nice cars, a lovely primary residence and a second home in a pricey Colorado ski town. They also take regular vacations to expensive Florida islands, often enjoying some boat that someone's parents either own or rent. I, on the other hand, own a car, and that's about it. I simply don't make as much money as either parent. My profession just doesn't pay as well. I feel like this last request (and others from people asking for money to support soccer-mom lifestyles, ostensibly "for the kids") is self-centered. I'm happy to support the cause of finding a cancer cure, and I've already given to organizations helping with that and other medical research this year. It feels awkward saying no (or not answering the email) to a friend, when I'm sure that to them it seems like $20-$25 (per kid) would be negligible. But that's already $50, and it seems there's always a friend in "need." It's a short leap to a couple hundred dollars, which seems lopsided when I don't even own one home, much less two, like these people. Furthermore, it feels like the "for the kids" bit is starting to become a ploy for shirking some of the financial responsibilities of parenthood. (We didn't have soccer moms when I was a kid. We just played kickball in the street. Good times.) If they think the sports teams and what have you are so important, should they perhaps be making them a financial priority over second homes and beach vacations? Don't we all have to make decisions like this based on our incomes? If I can't afford a pair of skis, I go without—I don't ask others to pay for them. I know the requests seem innocuous, but it starting to seem demanding and, frankly, self-centered to me. Has anyone had similar experiences? I'm not worried about responding politely. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed a similar trend.(((Ceiling Cat))) I've thought about it, but I've decided I'd rather preserve the friendship. Despite my frustration, I really don't think they're aware of it. (They're not the only friends, by the way.) moreResolved Question: My family is serious about moving to florida.....?
Ok...so my family and i just went on vacation to madeira beach, florida. And i loved it! and said i would love to move here, and i was serious about it. My parents are all ready looking at condos down there! and saving money and my parents have always wanted to move there. Ohh and btw im 13 and live in Illinois, so it would be a huge change. Planning a late September vacation for the family. With all the hoopla over the oil spill, we're thinking about a Gulf Coast vacation - to help support the economy down there. But - we also would like to be able to spend time enjoying the beach, etc. Can anyone living along the gulf coast of Texas, Florida, etc. let me know how the conditions are now? Seems like all the news footage is old. moreResolved Question: Michelle Obama has 26 assistants, and takes a massive # of vacations at OUR expense. Is she "Marie Antoinette"?
Since becoming First Lady nineteen months ago, Michelle Obama has vacationed overseas in Paris, London, Copenhagen and Marbella. She still has a family vacation booked to Indonesia and Australia that has been twice postponed this year because of her husband's incompetence and rudeness. She also vacationed in Los Angeles this year, sans her husband, sitting in a luxury box for an NBA championship game and visiting a private beach owned by a billionaire. Barack and Michelle Obama have also vacationed across America from Hawaii to Maine, with stays at a $4,000 rental home in Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard (with a second trip there later this month) taken over 300 rooms at a Montana resort, traveled through Western National Parks, two Chicago vacation weekends, one weekend vacation each in North Carolina and Maine (with a Florida weekend planned next week) and the infamous date night in New York City. When the Obamas don't feel like traveling the world, they bring the world to them at taxpayer expense, including a pizza chef from St. Louis and all kinds of performers for their White House parties. moreResolved Question: Underwater Camera Housing Rental?
I'm going on vacation with my family to Panama City Beach, Florida in two weeks! My sister and I thought it would be awesome to rent an underwater housing unit for our Nikon d90 and take family pictures underwater! The only thing is I'm not sure if I'd be able to rent one of these housing units for the day? I tried searching camera equipment rentals in Panama City on the internet, but it never produced anything useful. I'd be willing to call around to different stores and ask them but I can't even find a list of stores that might rent stuff like that out! HELP! moreResolved Question: Help with Orlando Hotel for me and 5 year old son?
I need a little help with planning a trip to orlando with my 5 year old son. Its our 1st time going to Orlando, Florida :) I have only booked my flights so far, could anyone recommend a good hotel for the 1st two weeks of march 2011? I was about to book Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orlando - Orange Lake Resort, which looks like a great resort, our own kitchen (to save a bit of money) and the pools and everything looks amazing..however after reading reviews on trip advisor there seems to be a LOT of extra costs, like $9 a day for tubes for the lazy river and $15 each for a shuttle bus to the disney parks etc. :/ and i plan to go to the disney parks almost everyday for the 2 weeks! My friend told me some hotels offer free shuttle buses to the parks and i came across Gaylord Palms, another gorgeous hotel but they only have small rooms with no kitchen so we'll have to eat out everynight. I've searched the internet and the two best hotels i could find (in my price range was these 2 hotels). Would it be too much hassle maybe booking 1 week in the Holiday Inn, Orange Lake and 1 week in Gaylord Palms? As we'd get free shuttles in one hotel and great pools in the other! Or should i book into the same hotel for the 2 weeks? I'm so confused! Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? Could anybody recommend any other good hotels around the disney area, preferably with free shuttles to the parks, and good pools, and lots of things to do at the hotel, as i plan to spent the rest of the holiday relaxing at the hotel. Also Im not goin to rent a car as its only me and my son and with the cost of parking at disney, fuel and the Daily Surcharge for drivers under 25, it wouldnt be worth it. Whats the weather like the 1st two weeks of March? Also which parks would you recommend for a 5 year old? The Walt Disney Resort or to get the Orlando FlexTicket, or the Orlando Freedom Ticket which lets you visit: * Magic Kingdom Park * Epcot * Disney's Hollywood Studios * Disney's Animal Kingdom * Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park* * Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park* * Universal Studios Florida * Universal's Islands of Adventure * SeaWorld Orlando * Aquatica * Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Which would be the best for a 5 year old? If we got the Orlando Freedom Ticket, would we have enough time to visit much diffrent parks, or would it be a waste of money? After looking both of them up, I thought the Orlando Flexiticket looked best, but would my 5 year old enjoy it? Sorry for all the question :) hope someone will be able to help, Thanks. moreResolved Question: Is cocoa beach or daytona beach in Florida better to visit?

We're leaving in ten days to go to Myrtle Beach and I'm worried about my hair. It frizzes really easily and on our trip to Florida last year, it look a mess. I tried to give an earnest shot....but my god, is this place hell on earth or what? I'm from NJ, and I was getting sick of it....so I figured, lets try the warm weather all year round.....then I realized what makes the warm weather and beach so pleasant is the fact that you know the cold is around the corner....with no season change, the beach just loses its appeal, and thats all florida has to offer....its just hot, flat, boring, sorry but people tend to be really dumb....just uncultured and moronic in general.....how often can you sit around by the pool and the beach anyway....seriously....this place has nothing else to offer....the laws are retarded too...as far as car insurance.....people cant drive, the road systems are so poorly thought out...you kind of wonder what the people down here were thinking....I dont think they are thinking.....I guess its the relentless heat and humidity that makes people stupid....you figure electricity is most conductive in the winter...and your brain runs on electrical impulses...so the heat makes people sluggish...mentally and physically....its like a place you come when you give up or have no where else to go....thats why everyone retires here....most people aren't from here and they always have a specific reason for being here...its not like well because its a cool place to live....its a good place to vacation.....but honestly, its kind of embarassing to live here. I'm one to give people the benefit of the doubt....an I'm not hard to get along with....and by no means some kind of intellectual elitist.....but seriously, anyone I have a conversation with seems to be clueless.....never before have I been surrounded by such dumb, uninteresting, uninspired people.....obvious you will be offended to a certain degree if you are from Florida an you are reading this.....but most people will admit the education system is a joke and for the most part the population is at the fuctionally retarded intelligence level.....I guess you cant blame them....there is nothing stimulating down here at all. Heading back to NJ first chance I get....the south in general is dumb and an embarassment to America....I can see why we are hated around the world now. NJ NYC Philly.....infinitly better than Florida, there is no comparison...its like living in a completely different planet. I almost feel sorry for the people here....but I'm too busy hating them....once I leave I'm sure I will pity them once again. I've also noticed that Floridians and other southerners refer to people from up north as city slickers and yankees.....so culturally devoid that they dont realize people in other parts of the world refer to all americans as yankees.......its obviously jealously on the southerners parts....there is just so much they are unaware of....like they are missing the big picture.....you cant even take them seriously for the most part. Someone who would be considered mediocre up north thinks they are the shit down here....its just sad.....I'm hoping and praying like never before that I can get back to civiliation before this place leaves an influence on me and stains my soul. moreResolved Question: which state is the best to take a vacation in for fun in the sun and shopping wise: florida or nyc?

I am leaving for vacation on August 3rd for Ft.Lauderdale, Florida. What are the chances that the beach will be safe to swim and not closed?to el diablo.. uhhh yeah.. and it could spread. don't you see the news? moreVoting Question: Advice on what to do with my sister....?
We're four years apart, I'm 16 and she's 20. We usually get around really well and everything, but lately she's been SUCH a b*tch to me. She constantly calls me disgusting for whatever I eat and when I ask our mother to get a certain snack for me, and I eat all of it she flips out and says that's "gross" and that it wasn't "my food" but if I EVER ate someone our mom got for her it'd be a HUGE problem. That's how it is for a LOT of things lately. I don't wear her clothes EVER, but she ALWAYS goes in my room and steals my shirts and stuff, and then I'll finally find them weeks later with holes in them and she'll be like "they were there already" when they weren't. She also comes in my room and steals my movies and books (which I buy ALL of them with my OWN money) And won't put them back in my room, or won't put the disk back in the case, or won't put them back how she found them or if the movie has that extra cardboard sleeve on it the sleeve will go missing or get ripped or bent. With my books, they'll come back with pages bent, ripped, stained and the cover will be all bent and ruined. I try to keep my stuff in a nice condition because I worked hard for the money that I bought them with. My bestfriend invited my sister to her sweet 16, but how we've been fighting so much lately I DON'T want her to come, and my friend is just like "No I want her to come, just don't talk to her." But I KNOW she'll go even if we're fighting to spite me. Also, the last time she was at one of my friend's sweet sixteens, she was on my a*s the whole time and wouldn't leave me alone. I know this all sounds really immature but I don't know what to do about her. We're going on vacation in two days to visit my aunt in Florida, and I know if I go I won't have fun while we're fighting, and if she doesn't go (because of work) then I don't want to, cause as much fun as hanging out with my mom and my aunt is...there's not much I can do alone, going to the beach or the pool without someone to hang out with you isn't very fun. I'm sorry it's so long!I do try to talk to her about it but she just says I'm immature and it isn't a big deal when she does this sh*t. moreResolved Question: does any one have tips on do's and don'ts at the beach for pregnancy?
i will be in the fourth week of my pregnancy when i go for vacation to florida. i will be in the sun and on a boat from time to time. does any one have suggestions on what i should and shouldn't do while im there? also, what sunscreen should i use? i saw the commercial for the 100 proof from neutragina but my step mom says it take 3 days to get completely off of your skin. any advice would help! thank you! moreResolved Question: Where to go for short vacation?!?
My parents said that they have like miles or whatever and that we(my siblings) need to chose somewhere to go for a small vacation. no more then a week, and it can be really anywhere if they approve. We love theme parks so I offered Cedar Point in Ohio, but I also want to like go out of the country. I am in Florida right now, so we don't really need like an Island since I live 10 minutes from the prettiest beaches. We never get to do this so we need to take advantage of this opportunity! So from experience, what are some vacation spots anywhere in the world that you enjoyed visiting? moreResolved Question: Hurt by friend going on vacation!?
At the risk of sounding like a disgruntled, grumpy friend, I'm here to ask if others would feel as I do regarding my friends actions. In the beginning of the year, my husband and I helped a friend out (he's my husband's best friend) financially and it continues to put a strain on our finances. He was fired from his job and I will say that he did not deserve to lose his job and had problems finding another since then due to the economy, his age, and our location. He did take a job at a convenience store two months ago and we are now only making his house payment. We were paying all of his bills. He is currently in Florida, paid for by his father. We had to cancel our vacation that was planed for the first week of June because we couldn't afford to go because of his bills! We hope to be able to go home/vacation to see my family in December but it's not looking too good; again because we are having a hard time staying afloat ourselves and currently live paycheck to paycheck. We depleted our savings...there's nothing left. I'm so angry that he's off on a vacation, even though he isn't paying for it. My husband is so stressed out over our finances that he had to start on some nerve medication several weeks ago and his best friend is laying on the beach in Florida?! To me, there's something wrong with that picture. I did say something to my husband about it and he only and he only said, "Well..." in response. Am I just being too spiteful about this? He's an ok friend of mine also, but I don't see him too often. He's a really nice guy and I think I'm more angry about not being able to see my family in December than anything else. I think I need an outsider's opinion on this because I'm too involved. I feel bad that I feel so angry with him. moreVoting Question: Im so lonley and depressed?
I am in florida right now on vacation. A few nights ago i met this really cool girl who i played pool with, did karoke, and hung out with a bit. When i had to leave i told her goodnight and she just took off giving me a small quick wave not looking at me. Now after that my confidence went down the drain, i felt like i might of bored her to death but i couldn't of because i made her laugh a bit. Now because i am on vacation i can never see her again when i left. A few hours ago i seen some stunning girls at the side of the beach and i introduced myself to them, then we talked for about a minute and they took off without saying anything. This stuff has been happening quite often in my life. Every since this vacation i get this feeling of a kind of warm-lonleyness in my heart and it drives me insane. I am so depressed right now i feel like ending my life. I feel so worthless like a waste of space. I think i look like a decent guy but i don't understand why women always never give me a chance. If anyones ever felt this way please help me out by getting out of this feeling. It makes me wanna go listen to some love song and cry all day. moreVoting Question: What is the most depressed area of Florida for real estate?
We're looking to buy vacation property in Florida and I would like to know what areas of Florida have been hit hardest for real estate. We will be looking in beach communities I believe but want to know where the weakest areas are for real estate before we start looking. We're from the North and don't have a clue. moreResolved Question: If you were my guardian, would you allow me to do this?
So, I am heading to Florida with my grandmother for vacation (we own a house there), and it's only going to be her and I, since I'm her little traveling companion haha. We are isolated because our neighbors are middle aged, and they have jobs to tend to. There are no young people my age around us, and we live right across from the beach. Would you let me go to the beach myself? it's a very safe area, the only real problem is the drunk partiers. I am 16 and carry a can of pepper spray. Would you feel comfortable letting me walk the beach and surrounding swamps by myself if you were my guardian?Yeah i leave the pepper spray at home most of the time, and good point, i didn't think about it being illegal. And i wish i could bring a friend, but most of my friends can't commit to a two-week vacation in Florida, even if we do pay for them. And don't worry, i stay as far away as possible from the drunk guys. moreResolved Question: Will an iPod touch come in handy on vacation?
I'm leaving for Disney/Florida on the 14th and I'm debating whether or not to get an iPod before my vacation. I figure I can listen to it on the 2 1/2 hour flight, before I sleep (I usually have music playing), apps for Disney World, to listen to on the beach, etc. My Dad just bought me a $300 camera so I'm obviously buying this myself but he asked me what I want one for because he doesn't think I listen to music at all (I do just when he's not home because I hate being obnoxious about it). SO will it come in handy or will it be pointless? I want one but my Dad thinks otherwise even though he's not buying it haha. moreTop Florida Beach Vacation Links
