Voting Question: Post Christmas Vacation/New Years! where to go!?

My family has been going thru so much for the past 5 months due to my fathers illness. I know that we really need a vacation and they left it up to me to plan. It has to be after christmas maybe during new years or after. So heres the dilemma...my father is not allowed to travel due to his low immune system. Hes in great shape to go on vacation but cannot travel. So we live in LOS ANGELES which is such a great city so I need someone to help me decide where we can have a local vacation. I know theres so many gorgeous resorts next to the beaches but I think it might be akward since it will be still so cold in early January. Any insight? suggestions? anything! more

Resolved Question: So is San Diego as hostile as Los Angeles when it comes to Indian people and interracial dating?

Well guys, this December my friend wants to take me out to San Diego and he wants me to bring my girlfriend with me. I am an Indian (India) guy and my girlfriend is Puerto Rican (looks sort of Italian, the pale skin can make her pass for White). In terms of skin tone, I have a lighter skin tone than most Indians and often get mistaken for Southern European and Middle Eastern a lot. Anyways, this summer vacation I went to Los Angeles with my girlfriend and in many instances people gave me a hard time for being an Indian guy (India) in an interracial relationship. Mainly it was a lot of the Hispanic guys staring at her and in one instance the guy said to her "oh you dating a Latino man eh?", she said "no he's Indian", the guy threw a fit and started calling me all sorts of racial slurs. Honestly, I noticed that people in LA were not too kind about the fact that I was an Indian guy dating a Latina. I was wishing they would have ignored it and let it be but that wasn't the case. Let's just say my first trip to Southern Cal was a rough one because of it. My friend says that people in San Diego are less racist towards Indian men (India) who date interracial or are with partners of another race. Is that true? Also is it common for INDIAN MEN in San Diego to date interracial or is it a rare scenario? (I only asked about Indian men, not Black, White, Asian or Hispanic men). I live in NYC and here it is common to see Indians in interracial relationships and no one cares. more

Resolved Question: My boss does not want me to take an already planned vacation?

I work part time hourly for a shoe store. I already planned a vacation to Los Angeles from August 25-31 and I let him know today, and he wants me to not go because it's going to get busy there at that time. I was already looking at another job in September so if i were to lose my job that would be okay, but I do like this place, and the boss likes me even though he doesn't exactly like THIS. Is there a way to keep a good note with my boss without having to cancel my vacation? Is it best to just leave? Or be an ass and just go on my vacation and not show up.as an added note, i havent bought tickets yet, so technically i HAVE given him a two week timeframe to find someone to cover for me by then, so i didnt do it ALL wrong more

Voting Question: why does my friend lies so much?

my friend and i are both 16 and my friend is a compulsive liar, he lies so much about things especially about money. Here's the thing i recently moved back from Alaska to my hometown Los Angeles, we were both best friends before i moved to AK and we kept in touch after i moved to AK then we started hanging out when i came back from AK (i think that make sense LoL). Anyways he is the only friend i have in California and i still haven't attended school in California so i havent made any new friends. The point is that he lies so much about money like one time i told him i was going to Seattle and San Fransisco for vacation then one month later when i return from vacation he told me he went to NYC while i was gone and that he was going to Mexico later this month. i knew he was lying but i didnt say anything i almost feel like he was trying to impress me or like he jealous of me. He also lies about whats he doing like when i bbm him he always says "text me later im shopping at bloomingdales" i know he lying because he cant afford anything there, last time we both went to bloomingdales he didnt buy anything because he says "he cant afford it" that doesnt make sense because he always says he buys all his clothes there. How do i confront him of his lying? should i even say anything? or just ignore him until i make new friends this coming school year? more

Resolved Question: How can I convince my mom to let me travel across the country?

I live in new york city. I'll be a college freshman in three weeks, and i was considering using my final week of vacation to take a trip somewhere with a friend. I hypothetically asked my parents and they both said to save my money and that I could. Idk if it was in all seriousness though. My birthday is coming up soon and i was considering sacrificing getting gifts for extra money (i'm paying half of the expenses with my job pay) and even christmas if i had to. They were planning on buying me a $2000 laptop but I'd rather do this to be honest, because in Los Angeles (where I'm headed) is my girlfriend who I'm desperate to see before I start school. I'm extremely street smart and I'm a human gps, or so I've been told, but my mom is still kind of a worrywart about me going places cause she can get overprotective. Bear in mind I'm turning 18 in a month and traveling with a 19 year old. How is the best way to ask my parents if I can do this? more

Resolved Question: Does anyone know where I can get a job? (For a teen)?

I am a 15 year old looking for a job I need so I can stop asking my parents or money. I am willing to work anywhere at any times. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I am now on summer vacation also. more

Voting Question: Things to do in Los Angeles.?

I'm thinking about going there on vacation one summer and I was wondering what all is there to do there? And I was also wondering are the people there mean or snobby or what?Oh and I forgot to add where are some good places to stay? When I go places my family usually stays in condos so what are some nice condos. more

Resolved Question: Suddenly NO appetite and I get full very easily?

Hey everyone, I believe I have some stomach problems. I am 17 years old, female. I am currently on vacation in Los Angeles, and it's not my first time on vacation. Lately I've been having VERY little appetite, and I start to eat less and less. I feel so full after eating 2 sushi pieces! Usually I can eat up to 16. I don't know what's going on. Also I exercise for 3 hours everyday so it can't be that. I feel bloated all the time and sometimes nauseous at night. What's going on? Help! more

Resolved Question: How many average American taxpayers take as many vacations in a year as Marie Antoinette Obama - that being 8?

According to the Chicago Sun-Times , by the end of the summer that will total eight this year. That has included New York in March, Chicago, their hometown, over Memorial Day, Los Angeles in June, Camp David in July, Maine in July where they visited Acadia National Park, and now Spain. Coming up is a trip to the Florida Gulf Coast on Aug. 14, said to be meant to encourage tourists who may be hesitant to travel to the coast because of the BP oil spill, and 10 days in Martha's Vineyard starting Aug. 19.We usually take 3 and people think we're living large. **note to liberals...I pay for my own trips more

Resolved Question: Why did the mexicans stare at me?

I went to Los Angeles CA last week for a vacation and me and my family went on a bus (since we didn't bring our car) The bus was filled with Mexicans, literally only Mexicans. (We're white) Me, my teen, and my fiance sat down together and during the bus ride every single of those mexicans were just staring at us. why were they doing that? it kind of freaked me out. And no, there was no booger or anything like that. They just stared at me like the last steak more

Resolved Question: Michelle Obama has 26 assistants, and takes a massive # of vacations at OUR expense. Is she "Marie Antoinette"?

Since becoming First Lady nineteen months ago, Michelle Obama has vacationed overseas in Paris, London, Copenhagen and Marbella. She still has a family vacation booked to Indonesia and Australia that has been twice postponed this year because of her husband's incompetence and rudeness. She also vacationed in Los Angeles this year, sans her husband, sitting in a luxury box for an NBA championship game and visiting a private beach owned by a billionaire. Barack and Michelle Obama have also vacationed across America from Hawaii to Maine, with stays at a $4,000 rental home in Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard (with a second trip there later this month) taken over 300 rooms at a Montana resort, traveled through Western National Parks, two Chicago vacation weekends, one weekend vacation each in North Carolina and Maine (with a Florida weekend planned next week) and the infamous date night in New York City. When the Obamas don't feel like traveling the world, they bring the world to them at taxpayer expense, including a pizza chef from St. Louis and all kinds of performers for their White House parties. more

Resolved Question: November Vacation in Costa Rica?

My wife and I are planning a vacation in early-to-mid-November. We're very interested in visiting Costa Rica, but we're concerned about rain. We had a bad experience previously getting 'rained out' during a visit in Dominican Republic. Does anyone have thoughts on rain in Costa Rica in November? We're open to alternative suggestions at this time -- we're looking for a destination that is fairly easy from Los Angeles -- we've considered the Mayan Riviera (Tulum, Playa del Carmen), but I think that Costa Rica is a bit more exotic and has more to do. Open to suggestions on other destinations - we're looking for tropical, exotic, equal parts eco-adventure and relaxation. Trip length will be 1-2 weeks. We were considering Vietnam, but we're tentatively planning an Asian vacation next Summer so we think we'd prefer to go somewhere else this time around. Thanks! more

Voting Question: Do they feel your pain?

Just wondering how how your families vacations are going? "The Obamas’ pre-party vacation involved a weekend in Bar Harbor, Maine, on Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. The trip marks the president’s third weekend vacation since the oil disaster began in April, and his seventh vacation during his 18 month presidency." "You wouldn’t take a vacation during the busiest time at your job, and the same should apply to the president." "Taxpayers will foot the bill to Spain for the army of Secret Service agents ( 70 ) and the estimated $148,000 tab for the First Lady's round-trip flight aboard Air Force Two". " In June 2009, Mrs. Obama's office declined to disclose in advance Mrs. Obama's travel to London and Paris". "Between Aug. 19 and 29, the first family will vacation on Martha's Vineyard, where they spent part of last summer." "By the end of the summer, Mrs. Obama will have taken eight vacation trips -- including her visit to Marbella, staying at the five-star Hotel Villa Padierna with daughter Sasha and some pals." "Mrs. Obama's U.S. Air Force jet landed at Malaga on Wednesday; she skipped celebrating her husband's 49th birthday with him." "Taxpayers pick up the tab for staff and 70 secret service for security at the exclusive hotel and most of the expenses for the plane." "First ladies often go on vacations, with and without the president. An issue for Mrs. Obama may be how many: New York in March; Chicago, over Memorial Day; Los Angeles in June; Camp David -- sort of an extension of the White House -- in July; Maine in July, to highlight Acadia National Park, and now Spain. Mrs. Obama is glamorizing Spain's coastal resorts before her Aug. 14 first family weekend visit to Florida's Gulf Coast." "Starting Aug. 19, the Obamas will spend 10 days in Martha's Vineyard." "Mrs. Obama's Spain vacation is one of eight she is taking this year." "The Obama delegation - many of them staffers and agents - booked half of the five-star Hotel Villa Padierna, a luxury hotel on the outskirts of the swanky resort city of Marbella, where rooms go for anywhere from $341 to $6,500-a-night." "The Obama’s take their 8th Vacation" http://www.centralfloridafuture.com/mobile/obama-travels-at-wrong-time-1.2280542 http://www.examiner.com/x-56418-LA-Conservative-Examiner~y2010m7d22-BP?cid=channel-rss-Politics http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/08/04/michelle-obama-sasha-on-lavish-vacation-while-president-turns-4/ http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2010/08/06/2010-08-06_first_lady_of_spain_michelles_a_hit_with_locals_on_vacation.html http://www.suntimes.com/news/sweet/2568760,CST-NWS-michelle05.article http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2010/07/michelle_obama_adds_spain_trip.html more

Resolved Question: a few questions about Little Tokyo LA?

Resolved Question: So the internet and media say that California is the most friendly states towards interracial couples, really?

I recently came back from a week long vacation to Southern California, we were in a really rich area of Los Angeles. Now my wife and I were on vacation (both are same race couples, she is a blonde White woman and I am a Blonde White man haha) but two other families came with me. One was my friend Pak's family, he is a Vietnamese guy married to a Black woman and another was my friend Abishek's family, he is an Indian (like from India) guy married to a Hispanic woman (Puerto Rican). Call it an isolated incidence if you like but in most areas of Los Angeles we went to, people were looking a lot at my friend Pak and his wife, most were shocked. One Black guy even looked at my friend's wife while she was holding hands with him and said "man she lost her mind!". I notice that most interracial couples there were Black guy - White girl, White guy - Asian girl and Black or White guy - Latina. Well we noticed that there were no Asian guy - Black girl or Indian guy - Latina couples, even in a place as "progressive" as LA. Here on the east coast people don't care and you see every single type of couple under the sun, even seen Black guy - Middle Eastern girl. I am wondering, is California really that friendly overall as a state towards interracial couples or does it only accept a select few? more

Resolved Question: My parents have treated me horribly :-( PLEASE READ AND HELP!?

So my parents planned a trip from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. I am 22 and work a full time in order to save money so I can move out, and I am one semester away from school, so it’s been hard for me to move out JUST NOW. I told them nicely that I didn’t want to go on the trip (mostly because I hate travelling, I hate new places) and also because I have to miss two important internship interviews this week. The interviews have been postponed, but when I strictly told my dad I wasn’t going, he said, “If you don’t go, you can consider me dead for you. I am disowning you.” He added that I shattered his heart for wanting to spend time with my family, so that just hurt me a lot, and I’ve ended up going. Now, it’s all just chaotic, I have to wait another two weeks to interview, which means another two weeks to see if I get any internship, which means I have to wait more time to make my schedule for the fall, which means I may not be able to get into the classes I need. Also, my parents wake up at 8am every morning and talk and talk, and go to bed really late as well. They are not letting me get a separate room because I need to “spend time with them. Because of their schedule, I am not getting any sleep at all. I feel sick and exhausted, I just don’t want to be on this vacation, and I want to go home. Now they are saying that I am the most horrible daughter anyone could have, and that after we go back to PA, I need to find an apartment as soon as possible, and never show them my face again. Are my parents being fair? I don’t want to lose my family, but I don’t understand why I am being treated like this. Yes, I could take out some loans and move out sooner than I had planned, but I don’t want to leave like this. I did what they asked me to, but I don’t know how to get through this trip. :-( I still have another week left. Please help me! more

Resolved Question: Magic Mountain or Knott's Berry Farm?

We are going to Los Angeles for vacation and we have scheduled two days for theme parks. On Thursday the 19th and Friday the 20th (August). On one of the days we r going to plan on visiting one of the Disney theme parks and on the other we haven't decided on either Magic Mountain or Knott's. We have 3 kids: 14 boy, 14 girl, and 11 boy and they all love roller coasters. And also do you think it will be crowded around that time of the year? P.S. Which of the two Disney theme parks do you recommend we go to? more

Voting Question: What is the best thing to do now? Should I just move on? (super long, sorry)?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 5 years. We've always had a great, healthy relationship and don't even fight. A month ago I decided to go all out for our anniversary (also his b-day) and bought round trip plane tickets to Los Angeles, CA along with 2 tickets for a 3 day music festival we both have wanted to go to for a long time plus a hotel stay for a week at a nice hotel. Regardless, I spent over $2500 on this trip. When him and I returned home (to Michigan), he decided to move his stuff into my house. We lived together in the past for a year and it worked out but since we live in Michigan and he got laid off work (yes, the lovely economy) he had to move out and find something cheaper. I was screwed for a bit myself, but finally got a 1 bedroom place that I love. He has his own place now but decided when we came back that he wanted to stay with me. But for some reason he refuses to sleep with me. He won't sleep in the same bed with me, hasn't wanted to really cuddle and we only had sex twice in the past month. But he doesn't leave my house and just sleeps on my couch. He took a vacation from work (he works again, btw) and did nothing but slept. He also disconnected his cell phone for some reason and hasn't left my house. It hasn't really bothered me because I enjoy him at my house even though he doesn't clean and has trashed my house. I ask him to just help out a little and he has but not much. But I never got mad about it. I don't mind a little mess occasionally. I've been noticing that he's been acting severely depressed since we came back. I ask him if anything is wrong but if I say something he gets defensive. He doesn't wanna talk to me and seems to only get off the couch if he has to. If I ask him to hang out with me and go somewhere he chooses not to. But a bunch of his friends have been calling my phone (he gave people my number) and he seems happy to talk to everyone but me. Today he flipped out on me. I don't know what the hell happened. It started when he said he was going for a walk. I usually let him use my brand new studio headphone to mix music that cost me $300. I use them all the time and he can also use them but I don't even take em out of the house when I walk our dog. Which is what he wanted to do. I usually use cheap headphones for my ipod and I notice he was crushing my good headphones into a backpack that he wanted to take with him for his walk. I asked him if he was taking my headphones with him and he said yes. I just asked him if he could leave em at the house cause I don't want anything to happen to them, only because I saw them getting crushed in his backpack. He seemed upset that I wouldn't let him use the headphones. He was giving me some attitude but just grabbed his own headphones and walked out of the house. I locked the door behind him because it tends to open on it's own (from the wind) unless it's locked. So I locked the door and went to my room and listened to music. I wasn't upset and I didn't know he was upset. Usually when he goes off for a walk he is gone for a half hour but this time he was knocking on my door a minute later. I did not hear the door because I can't hear it in my room and usually the dog barks. This time the dog didn't bark at all. Then finally I heard something after a few minutes even though the dog just wasn't barking. So I answered the door and he was so angry at me that he started packing his stuff and said he was leaving. He says it was because I locked him out. I tried to get him to calm down and all he could do was talk negative toward me and acted like a total a**hole. We started yelling at each other and he was just saying he needed to move out of my house and wouldn't calm down. I was upset too and since he doesn't have a car he was planning to take 6 bags full of clothes plus blankets, pillows and way too much to carry with him and walk home without a phone to call for a ride. He lives 6 miles away and wanted to leave in that condition. He told me he'd rather sleep on the streets then come back to my house. It hurt me when he said that. It's not like him to say anything like that at all. He's usually very gentle and never angry. I went to my room and noticed his sister called my phone. Out of anger I threw the phone in his direction from across the room. Meaning to land on the couch next to him. Instead, the phone hit his head. That was the end of it. He thought I hit him in the head on purpose and he acted like I was going to abuse him. I apologized and told him to calm down. I said I didn't mean to aim for him but I was angry and I did throw the phone a lot harder than I intentional wanted to. He got up and pushed my lightly. He was freaking out and told me not to touch him. He said I am just like his dad and that his dad would always beat him which he never told me that before. He says that he Oh and we're not that young for this immature behavior. Both of us are turning 26 in the fall. more

Voting Question: Any open casting calls coming up in Los Angeles?

My daughter is a professional actress (equity but she doesn't have an agent/manager) from New England, and we're taking a 2 week vacation to LA in early August. While we're there I'd like for her to go on a few auditions (I'm open to relocating for a job). I want to avoid scams but does anybody know any legit websites to help me find casting calls (TV pilots, TV, movies, or theatre) or of any upcoming auditions? She's 14 years old. Thank you! more

Voting Question: Is my family being normal at all? Do other parents do this too?

So my family has planned a six day trip to Los Angeles, in which both of my parents, my 16 year old brother, and I will be staying in the same room. My mom is highly critical of me and my dad snores throughout the night; that’s also the same week I get my period. I’ve tried respectfully telling them I really don't want to go, but my parents are saying I have no choice but to “mingle with the family,” especially since I “live under their roof.” The fact that I am 22 years old and working full time to accumulate the money to move out means nothing to them, I basically have no choice but to go. Two questions—Is it normal for a 22 year old to be expected to go on a weeklong vacation with, and live in the same room as their parents, or are my parents just a little weird? Also, how can I make it though this trip? After years of sincerely trying, I am honestly just not close to them, nor do I enjoy their company. Thanks in advance for your answers. My parents basically say it's NOT my decision--if they decide we are all going on a trip, we're all going. Until I live under their roof, I have to go, no questions asked. They both raised hell last night when I said I didn't want to go, so not going is not an option for me anymore. more

Resolved Question: What should be done about this problem?

So my girlfriend is visiting los angeles and she met this guy and now since her vacation is done, she told him and now he wants to come with her and get an apartment and let her move in and date her. Now he's 21 and she's 16, i know what he is doing is illegal and morally wrong but he won't listen. He is packing his bags but he isn't listening to me or my girlfriend. His parents aren't even home and he says she is worth leaving behind all of his friends. family behind to be with her. His family is rich so money won't be a issue for him, but he's only known her for a week and a half. Also, her parents don't give a **** about her and won't talk to her. What should we do? more

Resolved Question: Experience with flying a dog?

I am flying out july 27th from los angeles to new orleans with my 6 yr old dachshund. he is recently paralyzed in his back legs so i only want to fly him in cabin. My concern is that i have heard the airlines can be very hit or miss when it comes to checking closely for requirements for pets to fly and his carrier is maybe 1 inch too long and 1 inch to tall but is soft sided and i know will bend to fit, second is that my dog is not shy, and wants to keep his head out. He can lie down voluntarily in his carrier, but him being the very long dog he is cant turn around in it ( cant on his own anyway bc is paralyzed). from what i have read on united airlines website, all parts of the animal must be in carrier, and i think it might be a cargo rule but there is also something about the dog being able to stand, lie and turn around comfortably. My brother has recently flown with a puppy and said the process was very easy, no one asked for a health certificate or checked the dimensions of the kennel. I am just very worried that i will be denied at the last minute and this is a move not a vacation so i need him to be able to fly bc after researching ground travel found out it will range from $425 to $550 and just cant afford it. If anyone has an experience flying a dog in cabin please share it with me! thanks in advance. (by the way my dog is about 15lbs if that helps) more

Resolved Question: Where should I stay? Please Help!?

For Summer vacation, my parents want me to come with them to Los Angeles but my cousins are coming from far away to see our family (not JUST us, but my grandma, grandpa, ect.). I haven't seen them for at least a year. They are like my siblings, but we get along better. I REALLY want to stay, but my parents don't care. Do you think I should stay here or go to L.A? more

Resolved Question: Why do conservatives want to punish Polanski even more than he's already been tortured?

The man has not been allowed to return to Los Angeles to make movies, he has to limit himself to making movies in France instead. He cannot come to America and visit his friends, they have to fly thousands of miles to visit him. He can only own property in France, not England (because of extradition) or America. His right of travel has been effectively taken from him. If he were to go on vacation in say Thailand or the Philippines he would face extradition to America. The man has suffered enough already ---he is forced to live in Paris and not Los Angeles which is the film-making capital of the world; his friends are thousands of miles away and have to undergo costly and lengthy flights just to see him; if his children decide to study film at USC, UCLA or NYU, he can't visit them there; he will never see Hollywood or Venice Beach or give a lecture at UCLA ever again in his lifetime. He can only own property in Europe. The man has had his right to Los Angeles taken away from him by a mob of philistines, the same hypocrites who wouldn't dare arrest Mel Gibson despite the hateful things he has said against Jews, Blacks and women. The life that Roman Polanski has had to lead for the past 33 years is a tragedy, it has been a life of deprivation and persecution, the man could not come to Los Angeles to get his oscar, he can't use LA or New York as a locale for his films, he can't live next door to friends like Jack Nicholson or Harrison Ford, so why do you narrow minded people want to torture him even more? more

Voting Question: I am in love with my girlfriend. We used to talk all day. Yesterday her phone broke. Read the more detail plz.?

I am 13. Two months ago we started talking to each other and we both liked each other so we had a thing. I would talk to her all day via text, we'd talk in school, we'd hang out outside of school, we'd sometimes talk until 5 AM on the phone, we even kissed. Then just a few days ago I asked her out and she said yes. It seems like she only wants to go out for the rest of the Summer. I just realized the other day that I am absolutely in love with this girl. The only problem is three days into our brand new relationship.. Her phone broke. We live in Atlanta but for the weekend I'm at my beach house in Myrtle Beach. I miss her a ton and we can't even communicate. The problem is that I am scared that she doesn't like me as much as I like her. I have been thinking about her non stop. Also she is a great singer and actor so she is in a play back in Atlanta so when I get back we still cant hang out for another week. I am going to watch her play in about a week however. That will be good to at least see her. But then once again at the end of the month I am going on a two week vacation to Los Angeles so I am just scared that I will miss her like crazy while not knowing if she misses me as much. Remember, shes an actor. Can someone please give me some good advice or tell me what the heck is going on with me?? Thank you. more

Voting Question: Opinions needed for a story PLEASE!?

Hey I'm thinking about writing a story about a rich girl from Los Angeles who moves to her country house for the summer. She really dreads moving there, and would rather stay in LA with their maid who is like a second mother to her, since her parents are always at work or off on vacations to various places. So she moves to the country house with her parents and meets her neighbor who is a 13 year old boy (same age as her, who she eventually falls in love with) and his older brother who is 21. Does this sound too same old same old? Can anyone give me ideas for a twist? Thanks so much :)I do like the idea of the girl being raped by the boy's older brother, but its still too same old same old. I was thinking something to with a lake, like someone drowned in the lake or something. more
