I'm looking for a decent website to research vacation ideas. All sites kind of seem the same to me and overwhelmingly full if junk. I guess I'm looking for actual reviews, trip ideas (not scam packages) , and it maybe if they offer legitimate last minute deals. My friends and I were planning on going on a vacation to South Korea next summer and I started researching just to get a price range. The hotel rates I got off travelocity weren't actually that bad, they ranged from $100 to $250 USD a night, but since we are planning on staying for at least 2 weeks, its going to start adding up. I plan on traveling with 3 other people but apparently their are extra person fees if there are more than 2 people in a room. So, I wanted to ask anybody who knows, is it possible to rent out a place for half a month instead? I figure since I am traveling with a number of people, rent split 4 ways would come out cheaper than booking a room for two weeks. Thanks for your help! more

Resolved Question: When is the "best" time to purchase airline tickets? Which sites do you use?

Our family is taking a vacation to San Diego, CA in March. I have been checking prices and they seem to go up and then down every other week. I read on some blog that 4 months prior to travel is a good time to book as the prices seem to be the lowest at this time. We've never flown, we usually drive everywhere but this trip is 3000+ miles, so I am not very familiar with purchasing tickets and could use some advice. I have been checking expedia and travelocity, also the direct websites of AA and Delta. We do not live near any major airports to fly JetBlue, unfortunately. We are going Saturday to Saturday due to vacation rentals only being rented Sat-Sat.dancing... Thanks for all that info, I appreciate your time and effort! We have found that Sat-Sat is going to be our best option because all the vacation rentals we looked at rent only 7 day periods from Sat-Sat and we are looking at renting a house that is oceanside instead of staying at a hotel. The nearest major airport is Minneapolis or Chicago which are both about 6 hours from where we live, so adding a 12 hour drive to our trip isn't really worth it to save $300, but I do wish a major airport was closer! Resolved Question: Questions about Los Cabos?

My family is trying to pick a spot to go for vacation this year are we were wondering about Los Cabos. What would the weather be in Late July/August? Is there good snorkeling? Where are the good beaches and which hotels are around them? We would want to either do a vacation package through Alaskan Air or Travelocity so which hotels of those would you recommend? We want the trip, for 2 adults and 1 13-year-old to be prefferably around $2,000 but up to $2,500 if it has to be. We like to snorkel and swim and go to local resteraunts, ect, so the hotel doesnt need to have resteraunts but it would be nice if there was a kitchenette in the room. If Los Cabos is not good this time of year, are there any other places in Mexico you recommend? We have already been to Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta and don't particularly want to go back. Okay, So I'm 18 and my Boyfriend is currently 17. We are both planning on going to the Us virgin Islands in the middle of august, right before college starts. I need to know a bunch of things. 1st. Is the middle of august an okay time to go? Or what would be a better time? 2nd. Has anyone been there? Is it as beautiful as pictures portray, or would I be wasting my money? 3rd. Hurricane season, I live in florida and I know islands can get hit pretty hard. Will this make an issue for my trip? 4th. If a hurricane does hit, can I reschedule my trip to a later date, or get any kind of refund? 5th.How much extra cash would be necessary? (I will only be there for 4 nights) I plan on getting a vacation package, air fare and hotel together. However I don't know what type of transportation would be best there? Is everything fairly close, that you could walk and enjoy it all. Or would I need a taxi most of the trip, and if so how much would I be paying for that? Basically, I need to know everything from anyone who has ever been there. :) Oh one more thing, there are alot of packages on Travelocity, that say you can get air fare for two and a 4 night stay for around 1000$, that sounds almost too good to be true.. I need to know the best place to go in Jamaica. I want to plan a vacation for my family for my mothers birthday. I want us all to go to Jamaica for a few days at an all inclusive resort. The rates are $310 a night, it seems like with economy alot of hotels would have empty rooms and therefore have better discounted rates. I am planning a trip to Disney World in Florida for my family - me, wife & 2 kids, ages 4 & 5. We are pretty flexible with the days we would take, but hopefully some time before summer. We would like to get a flight + hotel + park(s) in the $2000-$2500 range, for a time range of 3-4 days up to a week. Should we book with the Disney site, Priceline, Hotwire, Travelocity, etc. - which one? Should we plan on getting a rental car, or are most things within walking distance or shuttled? I have made 2 reservations for an upcoming vacation at 2 different Hilton locations through Travelocity. There was no where to enter my HHonors # when making these reservations. So my question is...Will the hotels credit my points to my account at check in even though I paid for these stays online? I don't want to miss out on over 5,000 HHonors points. Anyone know?I booked through Travelocity rather than through Hilton because I received some credits through Travelocity for another booking that was incorrect, a mistake on their part. Resolved Question: When is the best time to buy Air Fare tickets for March?

I'm planning a trip out to Austin, TX for a Music Conference that goes from March 15th to March 21st. I'm planning to arrive there on March 14th & plan to leave (or get back here to NYC) on March 21st (I'm not planning to go to the last event of the conference.). I've checked Priceline, Travelocity, etc. Most of them have expensive prices like $689 round trip on either Priceline or Travelocity (I don't remember which one.). Although, when I went to Kayak.com I saw $220 Airfare & couldn't believe what I was seeing (I chose Hotwire & some other Low Fare engine to compare each other to that Kayak.com has you do.). Now, I'm assuming the Air Fare is Actually $440 WITHOUT the Hotel?? Right? I mean, last yr. I went to Nashville (late July) & I paid $467 from Orbitz.com, but wasn't aware that even though I was checking under the Lowest Fares under the "Flight & Hotel" Category I thought $467 INCLUDED the Hotel Stay (Duhhh...etc.). Only to learn that when I got to Nashville I found out that the Hotel was SEPARATE from the Air Fare. SO...etc.: 1) When is the Best time to purchase these Air Fare (& Hotel) Tickets for my March trip (now, Jan., Feb. or 1st week of March) for a LOW - CHEAP PRICE (Under $500)? 2) What IS a Travel Package - How does this work? OR 3) What does a "Flight & Hotel" Category do for you when it seems like I was paying SEPARATELY (Hotel & Air Fare)? *****I'm not looking to Sight See. I am looking to fly from Kansas City (MCI) to Austin, TX (AUS) on July 10 and then Austin to KC on July 20. I am going with a friend, but we are booking our tickets separately. The cheapest I have found is $300/person. I have tried Expedia, Travelocity, CheapFlights, Southwest, Delta, Frontier, etc. I just want to know if there is anything cheaper out there. We want our flight to leave Friday July 10 between 7:30am - 9am and we want our flight to have landed in KC between 8pm and 10pm on Monday July 20. The times are pretty set. I keep hearing now is a great time to travel, vacations are so inexpensive, ect........I haven't noticed much of a difference compared to previous years. I do travel for pleasure 2-3 times a year, both domestically in the U.S. and internationally, and am always one to look for good deals to make traveling possible for me. I frequent travel sites such as Expedia and Travelocity as well as use flexible date searches on several airlines to find the best deals. Am I missing something? I'm not sure what travel company this commercial is for (maybe Travelocity), but it starts by stating in text "Vacation to ... Cape Cod" and the destination changes a few times until "Vacation to Jamaica" and then a catchy island-sounding tune plays. I was wondering if anyone could 1) tell me, specifically, what kind of music that is and/or 2) more specifically, what the song/artist is... Resolved Question: Is my spouse covered when renting a car?

When I went on vacation last year to Hawaii, I used two different rental car companies. One of them told me that my spouse was already covered and I did not need to pay for an extra driver since we were married. Another rental car company said that I would have to pay for her as another driver, married or not. Are spouses covered as an extra driver or is this dependent on the particular car rental company. If so, it would be great if there was a site that lists which do and which don't. Since sites like Travelocity list by individual price, the cheapest may not necessarily be the best deal if there are 2 drivers. more

Resolved Question: LaGuardia to JFK in 2 hours - possible?

My boyfriend booked a vacation for us as a graduation present to Orlando. We have a connecting flight in NYC, but he didn't realize that we land at LaGuardia and board next at JFK. There's only a 2 hour layover. To me, that's not nearly enough time. Do you think it's at all possible to get our baggage, take a taxi to JFK, go through security and make the flight on time?
