My mom and I are going on a vacation this summer and we are not sure where to go. It has to be in the United States and have a nice resort hotel. Thanx for the help(: moreOpen Question: Need 50th birthday vacation ideas for female-Home is Ohio, not more than $1500-$2000?
We are planning a 50th birthday vacation for a female. She is metaphysical/spiritual in nature. She does not drink, smoke nor gamble. She loves Art, Bluegrass Music, 70's music, Willie Nelson, and Traveling by Train. She has been to "major" vacation spots and we would like this to be something of remembrance, not your typical vacation. We are limited in cost and would like to keep it around $1500-$2000, the cost must take into account that her husband will be traveling with her. She is a "Bucket List" person and has already completed many on her list. (Key West, D.C., New Orleans, Dallas, etc. )They do not hike, run, jump nor do they do amusement parks, bungee, sky diving type of events. Must be in contiguous United States. She feels that there is no need to travel out of the US until she has seen everything it has to offer. She gets her excitement from learning, watching, growing and experiencing. It can be traveling or watching the sunset. So, where should she go and what should they do? Thanks in advance..... moreResolved Question: Residence in United Kingdom?
How do they do that in the United Kingdom? To be specific, the city of Bath. I will be an "immigrant" because I'm from the United States. I've tried looking up apartments, but hotels came up. Are apartments like hotels to them? Well anyway, when I do move to Bath, I'm going to need a place to stay. Lol. I'm really not sure what to look up. This is a pretty long term plan, I'm not moving soon. In about two years I am though, but I still need to have some plan in order and in time it will be more precise. So whats the equivalent of renting an apartment in the US? Links would be soooooo appreciated on so many levels. [: But just one more time before anyone gives me a hotel, I need a place to LIVE, not vacation. Okay thank you. I've never left the United States, but then again, I'm very frugal and thrifty anyway :D moreOpen Question: Horse vacations, anyone?
I'm graduating from high school this June and my mom brought this up. She thought it'd be nice to go away for graduation, since I've only been on vacation once in my life.. ten years ago. She suggested a little cruise out of NYC but I'm not really into cruises, so she asked me to find something I liked. I have a pretty good idea what I want. I'm a horse nut.. completely and totally obsessed. They're kind of my weakness, even though I haven't been near one in over a year. If I'm going to get away from home for a few days to enjoy myself, it makes total sense that there would be horses involved. So I need help.. suggestions, especially from people who've done this sort of thing before. Personal experience is ALWAYS helpful! I just want to get away for a few days - not a week, maybe just three or four days. Longer could be possible if it's part of a very well-priced package. I'm not really picky about what the place has to offer, as long as the horses are a huge and central part of it. It doesn't have to be ALL about scheduled ride time - I love horses just as much from the ground as I do from the saddle. The place must be in the northeastern United States or on the Canadian border near there - I will drive, I will take a train, but I will absolutely not fly. I live on the Jersey Shore ( funny story about that.. ) so the closer, the better. I don't think it's in my power to say no to a nice place like Vermont or New Hampshire, though. I'm not picky about what kind of place it is. Could be a hardcore working ranch - as weird as that would be in this region - or some fancy English place, I really don't care. As long as it's a well-maintained and run facility with well cared-for animals and includes horses, food, and a bed, it is worth consideration. That's basically it. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. I've looked at plenty of websites but want an outside opinion or two, possibly from someone who's been to a guest ranch. :) Thanks in advance! moreOpen Question: Hi is it possible for me to go to Korea and come back to United States without any problem?

Its about the person who has impacted you the most.?
This is for a college entrance prompt from texas tech. My life has been a life full of ordinary circumstances and ordinary people and as well as the usual challenges life throws at us. However, there is one person who has always stayed by my side and assisted me throughout these challenges. This person is Graciela Garcia-Ramirez, my grandmother. I was her first grandchild and naturally she has grown very fond of me as well as I and not to mention, she has become like another mother to me and a great friend. She has taught me everything there is about life and she has helped me transform and evolve into the man I am today. There is one very important challenge that my grandmother impacted me the most. This was when my parents left me behind to give me the life they never had. In 1994 I was left behind in the state of Coahuila, Mexico with my grandmother. Although I do not remember much I do remember my grandmother taking care of me, since I was only three. My parents had immigrated to the United States to start a new life for their family. They did this with great regret, but in the end everything worked out. They settled in the small town of Kaufman, Texas with my fathers sister. For over two years, my mother and father worked sweat, blood and tears to raise enough money to bring me to the land of opportunities. For over two years I grew up without a father and a mother, and I all I had was my grandmother. For over two years my parents did not raise their child, instead they raised money. Mama Chela, as we all call her, tells me stories of how every night I cried for my mom to come pick me up. I was an innocent child and I did not know what good my parents were doing. My grandmother put me to sleep each night and I remember her crying with me. She was crying for the pain that I was going through and I cried for my parents. Each and every single day my grandmother bathed me. Each and every single day my grandmother fed me. Each and every single day she changed my diapers. Each and every day she walked me to school. Each and every day she gave me the love my mom couldn’t give me. Each and every day she gave me those hugs and kisses my parents couldn’t give me. My grandmother repeated these and many other things for over two years. When the time finally came for me to go with my parents, my life was destroyed. The pattern my grandmother and I followed for over two years was distorted . My parents were two strangers that I had not seen in two years. As we all ate in my grandmothers kitchen, my mother and father were telling their experiences to my grandmother and grandfather. I remember that all I was thinking about was how these two people could suddenly waltz back into my life. As I reflect back on that incident, I realize that my parents sacrifice was one they could not forget and neither could I . My parents stayed in Mexico for a little over a week. This week was all that I needed to realize that my parents were not those strangers that I seen walk through the door. My grandmother explained to me that there are times when parents do things ,that at the time aren’t good, but in the end they do it for protection. She explained to me that parents went to the United States to give me a life they never experienced. At the end of their vacation in Mexico, my parents gave me the most grandiose surprise I could ever get. It made up for the two years of their absence. They explained to me that I would be going with them to Texas. My mother told me that I would have my very own room, and all the toys I wanted. However, this isn’t the surprise. The surprise came four later. It all happened so suddenly. I was in my room playing with my red Power Rangers toy when a knock scared me. I opened the door and no one was there. I went back to play with my toys when my door suddenly open. I didn’t bother to turn around since I figured it was my mother. I hear “Pepito” a nickname for Jose. The only person who ever called my that was my grandmother. I turned around and there she was It was my Mama Chela with my grandpa. They embraced me and so did I. I cried but not in sadness, they were tears of joy. This was the surprise my parents gave me. They managed to raise enough money to bring my grandfather and grandmother legally to the United States. Since 1996 my grandmother has been here with me along with my mom, dad and grandpa. Since 1996 my grandmother has been by my side to help me with the everyday challenges of life. Since 1996 my life has become easier thanks to the love and support from my family, but most importantly my Mama Chela. moreVoting Question: Will a debit card or credit card work in another country?

My mother wants to learn to be a pet groomer to have a hobby when she is ready to retire, but I can’t find a program that will work for her. She is still working full time, so a 10 week coarse isn’t possible and the closest Saturday only course lasts 40 Saturdays and is over an hour away. I’ve looked into online courses but they don’t offer any practical experience. I am really looking for a week(ish) long course that she can take vacation to attend or an online course that meets at least once during the course for practical instruction. Any information or additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated!I would like to clarify that she does not want to be a professional groomer - As I stated before, she is looking for a hobby after she retires. Like grooming the pets of family and friends, but she has no idea where to start and online courses offer no practical experience, which is really what she needs. Also it is not going to be practical for her to quit her job to learn a hobby for when she retires. Now I mean no disrespect to professional pet groomers, I am sure that learning to groom professionally is difficult and takes a lot of time, but I’m sure somewhere there must exist a class for want-to-be novice groomers… moreResolved Question: what can you bring from the philippines to the united states?

Hi there, I’m an 18 year old Canadian who frequently travels to the United States to visit my aunt and uncle who live there. Through high school, I would only visit for a week or two at a time every few months. After High school I planned on taking a year off to travel, so, after graduating, I received the graduation present to go to the States to visit with my family, and do some traveling while I was there (Florida, Grand Canyon, etc.) I ended up staying 5 months in the US. After coming back home to Canada, about a week later my Uncle called me up to explain that he was going to California and asked if I wanted to go. Of course I said yes. We booked the tickets for the following weekend, and I packed. When I got to the airport, everything seemed fine until I got to Customs. Usually they would just ask me who I’m staying with, and let me through. This time, they pulled me aside into an interrogation room! Needless to say I was terrified and confused as to why the sudden change, but they explained to me that I had just gone to the states for 5 months, came back for two weeks, and then was planning another month long trip there. The officer asked if I had a job, bills, etc. under my name in Canada, and I had been gone for 5 months so I hadn’t had any recent documents. I was told by others that he was trying to make sure I wasn’t a 'Defacto US Citizen'. They asked many questions, including what my aunt and uncle did as a profession, how much money I had on me, and they even said to me 'what is your boyfriends name down there?' ... When I don’t even have a boyfriend down there? The man had asked for my Itinerary, but I told him I hadn’t printed it out, because with all my trips down there I never printed it out, and it hadn’t been a problem. He then assumed that I only had a 1-WAY Ticket to the US, and he assumed I didn’t plan on coming back. I don't see why he couldn’t have just went on his computer and checked if I had one or not (don’t they have access to this information?) After waiting another 30 minutes while he got someone to check for him, he let me through, but he stapled this small white paper to one of my Passport pages that said I had to be back in Canada by the specified date (which was the date that was on my Itinerary), or else there would be a warrant for my arrest! I realize he was only taking precautions, and doing his job. So finally, my question is, when can I return to the USA to see my family again? I do have a job now, and I have bills under my name. I returned home at the beginning of February, and I wanted to go down in June and spend the summer there (until mid August), so I can have a small vacation before I start College in September. I will have been home for 3 months, working full-time. Will they let me back in? Should I bring evidence that I plan to return home, just incase? (Such as my College acceptance letter, to prove ill be home by September? My Bills, paystubs, etc?) I'll be sure to bring my itinerary. Any help or personal experiences will be helpful. The last thing I want to be is banned from the US and not be able to see my family at all! moreResolved Question: traveling to costa rica, cell phone usage?? please help this is very important.?

PRISON INMATES HELP IN WAR EFFORT The United States House of Representative Mar 14, 2007 Section 54 http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=110-h20070314-54 Human rights organizations, as well as political and social ones, are condemning what they are calling a new form of inhumane exploitation in the United States, where they say a prison population of up to 2 million - mostly Black and Hispanic - are working for various industries for a pittance. For the tycoons who have invested in the prison industry, it has been like finding a pot of gold. They don't have to worry about strikes or paying unemployment insurance, vacations or comp time. All of their workers are full-time, and never arrive late or are absent because of family problems; moreover, if they don't like the pay of 25 cents an hour and refuse to work, they are locked up in isolation cells. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=8289 There are presently 80,000 inmates in the US employed in commercial activity, some earning as little as 21 cents an hour. The US government program Federal Prison Industries (FPI) currently employs 21,000 inmates, an increase of 14 percent in the last two years alone. FPI inmates make a wide variety of products—such as clothing, file cabinets, electronic equipment and military helmets—which are sold to federal agencies and private companies. FPI sales are $600 million annually and rising, with over $37 million in profits. In addition, during the last 20 years more than 30 states have passed laws permitting the use of convict labor by commercial enterprises. These programs now exist in 36 states. http://www.wsws.org/articles/2000/may2000/pris-m08.shtmlWho has the largest prison population on the globe? While I am all for equal rights for women, including for my mother who was a caring single working mom raising me, I take issue with a few points made by the user ‘Indigo’ in an earlier topic about feminism; her points are: (1) “The United States has the lowest amount of parental leave in all of north america and south America. “ (2) “The highest group of people living in poverty in the United States is single mothers.” (3) “40% of companies in the United States have 100% men in management and 0% women.”” WHY ARE THESE POSITIONS IRRELEVANT? (A) Parental leave is a luxury, not an entitlement. Paid sick days and paid vacation are also a luxury. Employer subsidized healthcare is a luxury. It is misplaced that people feel that luxuries should be entitlements. (B) If single mothers live in poverty, just as my mother and I did when I was a kid, then it is that single mother’s fault. To raise a complaint that she is somehow being treated unfairly is a position without basis. No unfairness of the governmental system or of commerce has caused the woman to be a single poor mother. A bad father may have abandoned her – but you can’t support the argument that such private collapse between couples should become a burden for government. Once again, that would be a misplaced sense of entitlement. (C) Companies promote to management whomever they believe shall best serve the company’s managerial need. If I owned a company I would agree with quotas for diversity hiring but I would be seriously opposed to the government telling me whom I should promote to important positions within my firm. ---------- (If governmental subsidies were not available to people who become parents without first being adequately prepared with emergency plans and funding then, people would not produce so many babies for which they need subsidies or parental leave, etc. In the absence of such subsidies I may not have been born but guess what – it wouldn’t have bothered me because I would have never known about it!) moreResolved Question: DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THIS COUNTRY THE UNITED STATES PROFITS?

Mexican national receives one-year prison term for health care fraud Comments 9 | Recommend 0 Middleman in Medicare, Medicaid fraud scheme came from humble roots January 26, 2010 7:26 PM Jeremy Roebuck The Monitor McALLEN — Raul Torres earned his living selling trinkets to elderly patients at adult day care centers across the Rio Grande Valley three years ago. By late 2007, the 60-year-old Mexican national was involved in one of the largest health care fraud schemes the region has ever seen, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He was sentenced Tuesday to one year and one day in federal prison for helping McAllen cardiologist Dr. Fabian Aurignac bilk Medicare and Medicaid out of more than $1 million. “I didn’t know what the doctor was going,” Torres said in Spanish, dressed in a faded work shirt and slacks while pleading with the judge for leniency. “I sincerely did not know what he was up to.” But prosecutors disagreed. In several recorded conversations, Torres acknowledged his role in rounding up patients for the doctor and paying bribes to day care center staff for access to their clients, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn Ferko. Torres met Aurignac — who ran McAllen’s Cardiology Care Center on the 700 block of North Ware Road — while peddling his wares at the Valley’s adult day care centers. Since at least 2003, the doctor had been bilking the federally funded health care programs by hiring South American doctors who were not authorized to practice in the United States, giving them pre-signed prescription forms to hand out while he vacationed in Italy and Argentina, and later billing Medicare and Medicaid claiming he had overseen all of the patient visits, according to court documents. Torres’ contacts in the elderly care industry provided just the conduit the doctor needed to expand his fraud scheme, according to a 19-count indictment filed in their case. Aurignac paid Torres to win over management at these businesses and round up patents for treatments that were either unnecessary or never took place. Working as the physician’s middleman, Torres delivered bribes of $150 to $300 to day care managers and gave patients Walmart gift cards to submit to free health screenings. At one such business — La Familia Adult Day Care Center in Harlingen — Aurignac’s employees set up a camper in the parking lot to see patients, another violation of Medicare and Medicaid rules requiring all procedures be conducted in sanctioned medical facilities. The center’s manager — Martha Garcia Alaniz — pleaded guilty in July to one count of receiving kickbacks and was sentenced to one year of probation. For his part, Torres was paid $100 for each session set up with a day care center. In the year that investigators were tracking his activity, he received more than $40,000 from Aurignac. In May, Aurignac agreed to pay back $1.1 million to the federal government for his fraud. He is currently serving a prison term of four-years and nine months. The Texas Medical Board suspended his license to practice in 2008. Torres’ defense attorney maintained Tuesday that his client never really understood that what he was doing was illegal, but U.S. District Judge Randy Crane disagreed. “He was doing Dr. Aurignac’s dirty work to some extent,” the judge said. “But without this recruiter, Dr. Aurignac would not have had this business moreResolved Question: Hi can somone please review my english paper and help me beef it up? this is just a rough draft.?
WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES To understand me, you must know a little about me. I was born in Karachi, Pakistan January 20th 1985. My parents moved to the United States of America when I was a year old and I been in here ever since. I come from a small family a family of four. You would also need to know that my father and I had a very close relationship we were more like best friends then father and son. My father would tell me that the only reason why I came to the United States is because I want you and your brother to have a good education. I’ve been to Pakistan since then many times, but this time around it was different. The feeling of coming home was not as welcoming as the other times. October 11th, 2003 the worst moment in my life was about to occur and I had absolutely no idea that it was going to happen as I was coming back from my 4 month vacation trip from Pakistan, and China. My mother stayed back in Pakistan due to one of my cousins marriage. My brother arrived at the airport to pick me up after we greeted each other I asked where is dad and why didn’t he come with you to pick me up? And there was a pause my brother didn’t reply I asked again is he at the business? And my brother replied sit in the car and I’ll tell you. As we drive off my brother says dad is in the hospital I took him there last night and the doctors told me that they need to keep him there overnight to do more test, as I stared at my brother’s face with a shocked look on my face. I asked why not knowing what to make out of this situation. I thought my dad would be home and he would have cooked a huge meal as he always did when my mom would come back from her visit to Pakistan. I was expecting the same. I ask my brother to drive to the hospital, as we get to the room I see my dad as he is laying there half the size he was when I left on my long vacation. He looked at me and smiled and I leaned over to hug him and I asked what happen and he said I really don’t know I just got sick. I sat besides is bed and just looked at my father and all my emotions kicked in and I started to cry I just had a sense that something was very very wrong because if it wasn’t serious my father would have not lost so much weight . October 12th, 2003. The next morning at 7am my brother gets a call from the hospital it was the doctor and he asked us to come and see him. We get to the hospital and the doctors says we have the results from your fathers tests and we see a tumor next to is pancreases and we think it might be cancer and the only way we can find out if its 100 percent accurate is to do surgery. Right then and there tears started to come down my eyes like rain drops. My knees collapsed it was like something had kicked me so hard that I had the wind knocked out of me and my mind was puzzled not know what to do, for a while I felt no emotions at all. They only question that came to mind was why? Why did this happen to my father? To my family? What did we do to ever deserve this? My brother just look down on the floor trying to make sense of the situation as I sat next to my fathers bed and every few minutes he would walk away and go into the bath room and would come back, he kept doing this repeatedly because he wanted to hide is emotions. The only option we had as a family was to pray and hope for the best. My brother and I decided not to tell our mother what was going on until we found out what it was completely as she was in Pakistan we didn’t want her to panic and become distressed.
