Resolved Question: Private owned vacation rental VS resort?

I have a Sept Honeymoon coming up and have yet to decide on a location. I have began looking into doing a private rental from an independant owner rather than a resort, I'm looking on the Big Island in hawaii. Funds are tight for us so a resort with the higher ticket aren't really an option and I'd rather sacrafice luxur and go somewhere I really want to go. Has anyone ever done this, what were your experences?? more

We are rlooking at renting a house on the Big Island and wanted to know if anyone has stayed there. When you google Lako House it comes up many times "Large 4 bedroom vacation rental home; Pool/Jacuzzi, panoramic ocean views located in Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii; house sleeps up to 22 people." Resolved Question: What to see on the Big Island in Hawaii?

I'm going on vacation to Hawaii and staying in Kona. I'm planning to rent a car and see all the beautiful sights there, however I don't know what those sights are. Do you know what the 'must-see' sights on the big island are? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated as well.
